Katy Perry is planning to get back at Taylor Swift during her Super Bowl halftime performance

Sure, it’s one of the most ridiculous feuds in Hollywood, but Taylor Swift and Katy Perry – who used to be quite good friends, it should be noted – really can’t stand each other now. Katy apparently tried to ‘sabotage’ Taylor’s last stadium tour, leading Taylor to write ‘Bad Blood’ about backstabbing Katy, which led to Katy calling Taylor a “Regina George in sheep’s clothing” on Twitter, yada yada. But enough of the small potatoes. It’s time to bring out the big guns. Specifically, Katy apparently plans to “get back” at Taylor during her performance on the Super Bowl halftime show. Never mind that Taylor already (allegedly) planned to ruin the performance – Katy will get the last laugh! “Katy is in complete rehearsal mode for her Super Bowl performance, she wants to make it feel like a complete party and something that will be remembered forever,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “She wants to make a statement with her performance and show that she is the biggest female act in the world and she wants to show that to everyone including Taylor, who she has a feud with. In Katy’s eyes, no one can compete on her level,” our source continues. “Katy will be doing something on stage during her performance that will be directed towards Taylor. She is working on it to be a visual or a lyric related jab,” our insider says. Wow… please, calm down, Katy. I don’t know how Taylor will survive a “visual or lyric related jab”! Also, look – I love KP, and y’all know that. I also love Taylor Swift equally. But if I had to choose who was the “biggest female act in the world” out of the two of them, I don’t think Katy would win the title, to be honest. Also, neither of them would win if you brought someone like Beyonce into the picture, so everyone needs to calm down. Follow us on Twitter | Facebook

Taylor Swift is single so that no one gets hurt

Hot on the heels of new rumours about her alleged dalliances with man and woman alike, Taylor Swift‘s cover story for Billboard has been released, in which she insists she’s staying single because that way, no one’s getting hurt. Of course, this is a pretty callous way to live and also a pretty lonely one, and no doubt she’ll change her tune when she next falls in love, but for now, this is how she feels: Billy Joel recently said that one reason he stopped writing songs was because people started reading too much of his personal life into his lyrics. Has the way everyone plays connect the dots with your songs become a hindrance to your writing? I’ve been dealing with it for so many years now that I expect the media to do it, I expect fans to do it. Human curiosity is never to be underestimated. But I don’t have anyone whose feelings are on the line except for me. If I was in love with someone right now, I don’t know how I would handle everyone else weighing in on our stories, because when you’re in a relationship there are a lot of secrets and a lot of sacred moments that you don’t want to divulge. I, however, am 24, perfectly happy being alone, and one of the reasons I’m perfectly happy being alone is that no one gets hurt this way. Huh. Well, if that’s what you want, Taylor. But at least you’ve got lots of famous friends around you. How did you get to know all of these women, if you don’t mind sharing? You have assembled this salon of really famous women around you — Lorde and Lena and Karlie. How did you build this posse? Every one of my friendships has a unique and odd beginning. I was watching Girls and I thought, “How mind-blowing is it that this girl is writing, directing and acting in this incredibly profound, raw, authentic view of being a woman in your mid-20s?” So I went to Lena’s Twitter and she was following me. I saw her quoting my lyrics. At first I was afraid, because I thought she was being ironic or making fun of me. Then I looked down further and she’s talking about my music all the time. So I followed her, and immediately got a direct message back saying, “When can we hang out? We need to be best friends.” With Ella — Lorde — her album came out and I thought it was amazing, so I sent her flowers and congratulated her on a great first week. And I get this text message from one of our mutual friends, [Rookie editor/actress] Tavi Gevinson, and she says, “Lorde is freaking out because she said some stuff about you in an interview and she feels so terrible.” She essentially had said that I’m too perfect or something like that — something that did not even mildly offend me, that I thought was cute. She felt so bad about it, so I said, “It’s no big deal. We should hang out sometime.” We met up in New York and walked to a park near my hotel, and we ate Shake Shack burgers and got attacked by monster squirrels who wanted our food. I could keep going — Karlie and I met at the Victoria’s Secret show … Did you set out to gather these strong females around you? How much is accidental and how much is it because it was the right moment for that? I never thought too hard about it, but you’ll notice a lot of celebrity-type people tend to surround themselves with people whose lives revolve around them. You’ll have a posse of these exciting and fashionable cling-ons, and it’s because those celebrities need to be fawned over. I feel uncomfortable being the No. 1 priority in my friends’ lives — I want to be there to make their lives more fun, if they need to talk, to be there for spontaneous and exciting adventures, but I don’t want friends who don’t have a life outside of me. So whether it’s Karlie, who loves what she does in fashion, or Lily Aldridge or Lena or my [childhood] friend Abigail, whose job is making sure that veterans get their compensation checks, the one thing they all have in common is that they love what they do. They have me in their life because they want me in their life, not because they gain from it. I love this last part in particular – she’s so spot on. You really DO see celebrities with “friends” that will kiss their asses 24/7 (because literally they have nothing else to offer – and I know a few people who are in that very position) so it’s really good to hear that acknowledged by someone with the awareness to recognize it despite the fact that she could be in that position herself. The whole interview is worth reading, particularly if you’re a Tay Swift fan (and even if you’re not) – click over to the source to check it out, if that’s your thing. Taylor Swift dresses for girls, not boys

I don’t know that anyone would, by any stretch of the imagination, refer to Taylor Swift as a fashion plate or anything of the sort. She’s incredibly tall and thin, making her a great vessel for great clothes, and she always looks nice in what she wears, but she’s not presenting us with groundbreaking fashion or anything. Still, ASOS magazine, put out by the fashion retailer of the same name, seems to think she’s a worthy candidate for their cover and they’ve brought us one of the tackiest photoshoots I’ve seen in ages. Seriously – what in 1970s discotheque hell? Photos aside, the feature also has an interview in which Taylor insists that she’s never dressing up for boys with what she wears and in fact she’s more concerned with what her girlfriends think: “When I’m getting dressed, it’s always based on what my friends will think. They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life.” Well, it’s good that she’s not dressing for boys, but how about only dressing for YOURSELF? Girls can be judgmental as shit, as well, even your “friends”, so the best way to ensure that you’re looking and feeling your best is to wear what YOU feel most comfortable and confident in. Then again, I get that this quote is just furtherance of her “Girls rule, boys drool” message she seems to be pushing in the past couple of years, so I guess I’ll give her a pass for now. Taylor Swift goes psycho in ‘Blank Space’ video

Taylor Swift‘s 1989 is probably the best pop album of the year, maybe the past two years (at least). Seriously, it’s that good. I pretty much love every song on the album, save for Welcome to New York, but that’s just because I’ve lived there for 13 years and that doe-eyed naivité thing about it hasn’t been my bag for over a decade. But that’s neither here nor there! What’s important is that this album is FULL of hits, so she can ride on this one for a long while. Her new single, ‘Blank Space’, is supposed to be an homage to the psycho alter-ego the press seems to report of her when she’s in a relationship/just ending a relationship. TayTay likes to have fun, so she played on that for the music video, which leaked a day early (oopsies!) and had been watched by a zillion people before anyone realised they weren’t supposed to have seen it yet. Ah, well. I’m not a fan of music videos in general – I prefer to just listen to the damn song and I don’t need a visual to go along with it – but as these things go, this is a lot of fun and I ain’t mad at it, as they say. I mean, if brought us faces like these: That can’t be a bad thing. What do you think of ‘Blank Space’ and the video? Follow us on Twitter | Facebook

Taylor Swift talks feminism and Emma Watson haters

Taylor Swift is feeling feminism lately and is being vocal about her support of her fellow ladies. In fact, while being interviewed on France’s Tout Le Monde En Parle, Taylor discussed Emma Watson‘s recent UN speech and the hate (and threats) she received as a result: In case you can’t watch the video (or just don’t have the patience to do so), here’s a bit of what Taylor had to say: “I wish when I was 12 years old, I had been able to watch a video of my favorite actress explaining in such an intellectual, beautiful poignant way the definition of feminism,” Swift said. “Because I would have understood it and then earlier on in my life I would have proudly claimed that I was a feminist.” The singer explained that “so many girls out there say ‘I’m not a feminist’ cause they think it means something angry or disgruntled or complaining. They picture like rioting and picketing, it is not that at all, it just simply means that you believe that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities and to say that you’re not a feminist means that you think men should have more rights and opportunities than women.” “I just think that a lot of girls don’t know the definition and the fact that Emma got up and explained it, I think it’s an incredible thing and I am happy to live in a world where that happened,” Swift noted of the HeforShe campaign. I mean, that’s all a bit simplified, but I get what she’s going for and I think her young fans will, as well. The whole video is worth watching, since she talks a bit about Miley Cyrus, as well. Taylor Swift doesn’t have the energy to be in love

Taylor Swift‘s love life (or lack thereof) has been the focus of much of the attention paid to her over the past few years, but it seems all has been quiet on the dating front as of late. Why is that? Well, she doesn’t have “the energy” to be in love. From Rolling Stone: “I feel like watching my dating life has become a bit of a national pastime,” Swift says. “And I’m just not comfortable providing that kind of entertainment anymore. I don’t like seeing slide shows of guys I’ve apparently dated. I don’t like giving comedians the opportunity to make jokes about me at awards shows. I don’t like it when headlines read ‘Careful, Bro, She’ll Write a Song About You,’ because it trivializes my work. And most of all, I don’t like how all these factors add up to build the pressure so high in a new relationship that it gets snuffed out before it even has a chance to start. And so,” she says, “I just don’t date.” (That goes for hooking up as well. “I just think it’s pointless if you’re not in love,” Swift says. “And I don’t have the energy to be in love right now. So, no.”) Truth be told, Swift sounds a tiny bit jaded – which, for a “self-professed hopeless romantic,” maybe isn’t the worst thing to be. “It’s not like I’ve sworn off love,” she says. “My life is just not conducive to bringing other people into it right now. I’m very childlike and romantic about lots of things, but I’m realistic about this.” But hey, don’t go thinking TSwift is all sad and lonely, because that’s definitely not the case. “Have you heard of the Loneliest Whale? There’s this whale – I think Adrian Grenier is making a documentary about it. It swims through the ocean, and it has a call unlike any other whale’s. So it doesn’t have anyone to swim with. And everybody feels so sorry for this whale – but what if this whale is having a great time? Because it’s not bad that I’m not hopelessly in love with someone. It’s not a tragedy, and it’s not me giving up and being a spinster. Although I did get another cat.” She laughs. “I asked around: I was like, ‘Does two cats count as cats?’ But then I thought, what imaginary guy’s perspective am I thinking about this from? Someone is going to think I’m undateable for a lot of reasons before they think I’m undateable because I have two cats.” Oh, Taylor – that’s deep. I really like Taylor and think she’s adorable and seems really likeable. It’s really a shame so much attention has been paid to who she’s dating and who she’s writing songs about, because I think it’s made her a little manic about the whole subject, leading to rants like this. Can’t say I blame her, but it does come off as a bit cuckoo. Follow us on Twitter | Facebook

Taylor Swift gives love advice to heartbroken fan

If there’s one thing Taylor Swift knows all about, it’s love. She might not be very good at it, but she’s had her share of relationships, some more successful than others, and she wants to share the wisdom she’s gained with her adoring fans. That’s why when one girl took to Instagram to express her longing for the boy across the street, TaySwift dropped some serious knowledge on her ass and told her just what to do. Here’s what Instagram user sherbetswift wrote: There’s a guy Taylor, a guy who’s sweet and charming and makes me laugh. A guy who said sorry for eating in front of me after finding out I had to skip breakfast. A guy who grew up across the street from me. A guy who plays guitar like me. A guy who was my first best friend. A guy who I met when I was seven and he was nine. A guy who this one time, when we were younger, said that I was ‘like’ his girlfriend because I was a girl and his friend. I wish. A guy who I have the biggest crush in the whole wide world on, and he’ll never like me back. (And he has a girlfriend who he adores and she’s pretty and has an amazing figure and is actually nice to me). A guy who will never like me back. @taylorswift can you give me some advice maybe. I love you. Hannah ?? And here’s our girl Taylor’s response: Hannah. Eyes, eyes, eyes. Woah. You have the prettiest, widest, most child like eyes. (Composes herself) Okay. About this guy. I think we grow up thinking the only love that counts as true love is the kind that lasts forever or is fully realized. When you have a broken heart, the first thing a stranger will ask is ‘how long were you two together?’ As if your pain can be determined by how long you were with someone. Or if you were with them at all. I don’t think that’s how it works. I think unrequited love is just as valid as any other kind. It’s just as crushing and just as thrilling. No matter what happens in this situation, I want you to remember that what you are doing is selfless and beautiful and kind. You are loving someone purely because you love them, not because you think you’ll ever have your affections reciprocated. You are admiring something for its beauty, without needing to own it. Feel good about being the kind of person who loves selflessly. I think someday you’ll find someone who loves you in that exact same way. I mean, it’s all very cheesy, but you know how everything seemed like the end of the world when you were a teenager, and when you had a crush on someone who didn’t like you back, it was pretty much the worst thing ever, so I feel bad for the kid. Also, it was really, really nice for TSwift to step up and actually respond to this girl. As a celebrity who probably gets a million questions/tags a day, it’s probably not easy to get to everyone, and I think it’s really sweet that she took the time out. Follow us on Twitter | Facebook
