Trump asks the Guggenheim for Van Gogh, but gets a toilet

If you weren’t familiar, Trump, the president, has set out to defund the arts program around the US.  But that doesn’t stop the jackass from assuming the art world would provide him with one of its most priceless pieces, right? Ass. The First Couple had asked the Guggenheim to borrow Van Gogh’s 1888 “Landscape with Snow” painting for their private White House quarters, but a curator responded that the museum no longer had the work. However, the Upper East Side museum could offer the presidential couple another piece: a fully functional toilet made out of solid 18-karat gold entitled “America.” The shimmering art piece, created by Italian-born artist Maurizio Cattelan, is estimated to have cost more than $1 million to make. Curator Nancy Spector wrote back that the Van Gogh was a no-go, but pointed out that Cattelan’s interactive “America” was available after concluding a year-long exhibit in a public bathroom on the museum’s fifth floor. The toilet had been used by visitors but was available “should the President and First Lady have any interest,” Spector wrote. Side note: Have you ever seen Trumps NYC penthouse? It’s quite possible he’s shit in a gold toilet already. The post Trump asks the Guggenheim for Van Gogh, but gets a toilet appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

50 Cent says Trump offered him 500K to support election bid

Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has claimed that Donald Trump’s presidential campaign offered him half a million dollars to support him during the election. In an interview with New York radio station Hot 97, Jackson said that during Trump’s campaign, he was offered $500,000 in what the rapper claimed was an effort to reach out to black voters. “I was like, nah, that’s not good money,” the rapper said on the program. “Yeah I’m not gonna do that … that’s not worth it.” The rapper, who was promoting “Power,” his television show on Starz, also called Trump’s election an “accident.” “If you were president by accident, you might do some of the things Donald Trump is doing,” 50 Cent said. “I think he was [campaigning] to build his profile for a bigger deal on television, and everything else.” The rapper continued: “I don’t think anything has divided people as fast” as Trump has. The White House redirected a request for comment about the allegation to the Trump campaign, which didn’t immediately respond. Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper are through as friends!

Kathy Griffin, the comedian that made headlines in June after she was featured in a photo holding a bloodied mask that resembled President Trump, said in an interview that she is no longer friends with her former New Year’s Eve co-host, Anderson Cooper. Griffin told The Cut that when Cooper eventually reached out to her, she informed him that their friendship was over. Griffin was apparently upset about Cooper’s initial response to the photo controversy. The CNN anchor said, “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.” Griffin told the magazine that she was upset that Cooper did not reach out to her before commenting publically. Griffin, meanwhile, is attempting to relaunch her career after being marred by the photo controversy. She came out hours later acknowledging she “went too far” and apologizing for the disturbing image, but the damage was done. Several theaters canceled performances with Griffin citing the controversy. CNN announced it would be ending its relationship with the star, who hosts its New Year’s Eve program. Her co-host, Anderson Cooper, also said he was “appalled” by the photoshoot. Trump and first lady Melania Trump also released statements condemning the attack on their family. Trump added the picture took a toll on his 11-year-old son Barron as the first lady questioned Griffin’s mental health. Griffin later accused the Trump family of systematically “mobilizing their armies” against her. “I don’t think I’ll have a career after this. I’m going to be honest, he broke me,” Griffin said in a news conference. The post Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper are through as friends! appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

Kennedy Center Honorees are Boycotting Gala

The 2017 Kennedy Center honorees: Actress, dancer and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade, singer-songwriter and actress Gloria Estefan, hip-hop artist LL COOL J, musician and record producer Lionel Richie, and television writer and producer Norman Lear. The Kennedy Center Honors will be a remarkably low-key affair this year it seems with dancer Carmen de Lavallade announcing she will not attend in a statement released on Thursday. ‘In light of the socially divisive and morally caustic narrative that our current leadership is choosing to engage in, and in keeping with the principles that I and so many others have fought for, I will be declining the invitation to attend the reception at the White House,’ state de Lavallade. That follows similar statements from honorees Lionel Richie, Norman Lear and Gloria Estefan, meaning that only LL Cool J is still confirmed to attend the event. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the ceremony, with Mel Brooks previously refusing the honor while George W Bush was in office and Paul McCartney claiming to have a cousin’s wedding when he was selected as part of the 2004 class of inductees. Both of those men were later honored after Barack Obama took office. Richie was asked if he would attend the event in the wake of Lear’s flat-out refusal to appear at the ceremony and Estefan’s caveat that she would consider going if President Trump agreed to sit down with her and discuss immigration. ‘I have to play it by ear. I’m not really happy as to what’s going on right now, with the – the controversies. And the weekly, daily, hourly. I think I’m going to wait it out and see where it’s going to be, by that time,’ explained Richie on Tuesday during an appearance on Today. ‘I’m going to wait it out. I understand Norman’s point of view. And I understand where we are as a country right now is going backwards.’ He then added: ‘All we can do is sit here and hold our breaths.’ The post Kennedy Center Honorees are Boycotting Gala appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

Stephen Colbert brings animated Trump to Netflix

Comedy Central already has a decent Trump parody show already, so this isn’t as groundbreaking as the headlines make it seem.  Anywho… Stephen Colbert, a fierce critic of Donald Trump, has sold a new animated series to Showtime that will feature the cartoon commander-in-chief who frequently appeared on his show during last year’s election campaign. Colbert has teamed up with The Late Show show-runner, Chris Licht, on the project, which is currently slated for one 10-episode season set to air in the fall. “I know a lot of people wanted to do this, and I’m honored that the Cartoon President invited our documentary crew into his private world,” Colbert said in a statement about the pick-up. “I’ve seen some of the footage, and I look forward to sharing the man behind the MAGA.” The show will also feature animated versions of the president’s family members, featuring “truish adventures of Trump’s confidants and bon vivants – family, top associates, heads of government, golf pros and anyone else straying into his orbit”, while “intrepidly exploring their histories and their psyches, revealing insights into what makes them so definitively Trumpian”. Sweden’s Museum of Failure adds Trump!

Samuel West’s “Museum of Failure” is an act of celebration. On June 7, West, a collector and self-described innovation researcher, debuted 51 failed products in a museum exhibition in the Swedish city of Helsingborg, all in the name of honoring the creative process. Visitors will get reacquainted with familiar names like Betamax and Blockbuster, and perhaps meet lesser-known flops — Twitter Peek, anyone? — all of which West has been collecting for the past year.   Including what looks like Trump’s Apprentice the home game. “You’re Fired, Mommy!” “Even the biggest baddest most competent companies fail,” West tells Business Insider. “The trick is to create an organizational culture that accepts failure so that you can fail small … rather than failing big.” Here’s a taste of the products that are getting a second life on display. Seriously, I love it.  Although I call BS on the Palm Pilot. That thing brought me a solid year of good times and you can’t ask much more of modern tech. Snoop Dogg Mock Trump Assassination Getting blowback

If you saw the video Snoop put out for his song “BADBADNOTGOOD” you’ll understand why some folks are a little hot under the collar.  I mean I loathe the current president, but anything that glorifies murdering a US president is bad.   I mean Snoop knows that killing Trump wont bring Obama back, right? Anyway, up till that point the video is great b/c it’s an orange Trump look-a-like (redundant, I know) putting on clown make up. I audibly laughed at the sight of it. But the moment the gun points at him it goes from fun to stressful fast. And I’m not alone. Although I’m not exactly in the company I’d like to be keeping. Florida Senator Marco Rubio said the rap star was unwise to pretend to shoot a clown dressed as the US president in the video. Mr Rubio told TMZ: “If the wrong person sees that and gets the wrong idea, you could have a real problem.” The video, featuring Snoop Dogg and Kaytranada, is a remix of Lavender by Canadian group BadBadNotGood.
