Diahann Carroll dies at age 84

I used to want to be Diahann Carroll.  She’s much older than me, but she was so dignified and refined. Not to mention beautiful.  I would have this recurring dream that she was my neighbor and on Sundays we’d get together and play Gin. Carroll’s daughter, Susan Kay, confirmed her mother died on Friday in Los Angeles of cancer. During her long career, Carroll earned a Tony Award for the musical ‘No Strings’ and an Academy Award nomination for ‘Claudine.’ But she was perhaps best known for her pioneering work on ‘Julia.’ Carroll played Julia Baker, a nurse whose husband had been killed in Vietnam, in the groundbreaking situation comedy that aired from 1968 to 1971. Although she was not the first black woman to star in her own TV show (Ethel Waters played a maid in the 1950s series ‘Beulah’), she was the first to star as someone other than a servant. In the 1980s, she appeared in the long-running prime-time soap opera ‘Dynasty’ for three years. More recently, she had a number of guest shots and small roles in TV series, including playing the mother of Isaiah Washington’s character, Dr. Preston Burke, on ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’ The post Diahann Carroll dies at age 84 appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

Chip and Joanna Gaines announce their newest project

Everyone’s favorite reno team is at it again. Chip and Joanna Gaines seem to take on bigger and bigger projects every time I turn around.  This time it’s a hotel! The made the announcement in a new video on their website today that they’ve partnered with AJ Capital on their first-ever hotel, which will be just a few blocks away from their Magnolia Market at the Silos. Chip, 44, and Joanna, 41, excited shared the news with fans, and offered a sneak peak at what the space will look like. “We are excited, we finally get to share some news with you,” Joanna says in the clip. ‘Y’all, we’re gonna have a hotel in downtown Waco, Texas,’ Chip says.  “We are ready to get started on this iconic building downtown a few blocks away from the Silos,” adds Joanna. The couple is making over the historic Grand Karem Shrine, a three-story, 53,000-square-foot space built in 1928.  According to Architectural Digest, much of the structure remains unchanged, and it still features decorative symbols of Freemasons and Shriners. You can see in the entryway that the Freemason mosaic is still intact. The post Chip and Joanna Gaines announce their newest project appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

It’s Mean Girls Day and Mean Meme’s Rock

October 3rd, Mean Girls day. The day Aaron Samuels asked Cady Heron what the date was.  It’s… kind of a big deal. So I love when two of my favorite things (Art and Mean Girls) collide to make a wonderful set of memes to celebrate this important day. Thank you to the Philadelphia Museum of Art for their fun work. Courtney Cox shares all her failed shot attempts

Last week Courtney Cox posted a great video of herself casually tossing a basketball blindly behind her head and sinking it. Nothing but net.  The ‘stunt’ was to show her appreciation to Nets player Kyrie Irving and his new Friends inspired Nikes. Cox joked that the Globetrotters called her after seeing the unbelievable shot so she wanted to come clean. Seems the shot took MANY attempts before draining happened. She’s so fun. If you can, play the audio. Her reactions are great. View this post on Instagram after my post the Globetrotters contacted me, but full disclosure… #onmygrind A post shared by Courteney Cox (@courteneycoxofficial) on Sep 30, 2019 at 4:00pm PDT The post Courtney Cox shares all her failed shot attempts appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
