People Magazine keeps releasing parts of their Alamooney cover story this week in drips and drabs. Obviously, the big money release was the cover shot, then the information about Amal searching for “Mr. Perfect” and giving up cigarettes once she’d found him. The rest of the info is just… catch-up details about the wedding, basically. Still, it’s interesting if you’re a full-blown Alamooney Loonie. Some highlights:
*George chose Nora Sagal, “the teenage daughter of Warner Bros. executive David Sagal,” to sing at the wedding. Nora sang the Irving Berlin standard “Always” at the wedding ceremony, then she performed Cole Porter’s “Why Shouldn’t I?” for George and Amal’s first dance. George “discovered” Nora while he was filming The Monuments Men and he had her record a Christmas song for the soundtrack.
*There’s also more info about the cake: it was a “4-tiered, square-style cake sat perched on a round table surrounded by votive candles. Designed to coordinate with the wedding’s elegant surroundings, the chocolate cake was ‘gold art deco to match the dining room,’ Clooney says. But how did it taste?
*In case you wanted to know if Amal wore something special from her parents on her big day… yes, she did. Her parents gave her a pair of earrings which she wore on her wedding day. They were “natural pearl earrings with square-cut diamond accents…The pearls were harvested from the waters of Bahrain and made by a Lebanese jeweler, Chatila — all details that might hold special significance to the Beirut-born beauty.”
*Oh, and E! News says that the Alamooney wedding cost $4.6 million – go here to read the breakdown. The most amazing figure? They claim that Amal’s Alexander McQueen custom dress (the red & black one she wore the night before the wedding) cost $380,000. WTH?!!?
