Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have amassed a truly impressive collection of homes. In many cases the wives buy a home, gut it to it’s studs, remodel it with meticulous perfection and the sell it for a handsome profit. Ellen says it’s not really flipping as much as just being ready to move as soon as the fun of remodeling is over.
This place was accumulated over several years. It’s actually three properties bought and merged into 16+ acres of property, complete with ocean view.
The main house on the estate was built in the 1930s by celebrated architect Wallace Frost. After living in Italy, Frost created the two-story, 10,500-square-foot residence for himself. Ellen and Portia turned this classic home into a work of art. Seriously. Inside and out, from architecture to art and furniture choices, it’s a masterpiece.
That and it’s location give it the madening $45,000,000 price tag.
