On Tuesday, Prince Archie of Sussex turned six years old. He was born in England six years ago in the middle of one of the worst hate campaigns I’ve ever seen. Before his first birthday, Archie was already living in California with his mom and dad. By his second birthday, he was living in a big mansion in Montecito with his very own chicken coop and a baby sister on the way. How time flies. Meghan posted this photo of Archie (above) on her Instagram, with this message:

Our son. Our sun.

Happy 6th birthday to Archie!

Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?

(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special ❤️)

I love that Meghan casually mentions that they had a party for the birthday boy last weekend. The same weekend Archie’s grandfather was throwing a huge tantrum in the British press. King Charles would walk ten miles to lie about Prince Harry, but Charles wouldn’t walk two feet to pick up the phone and call his grandson on his birthday. That was one of the larger points of Prince Harry’s BBC interview – that Charles is not only a dogshit father, he’s also a dogshit grandfather who wants nothing to do with his Sussex grandchildren (and probably his Wales grandkids, if we’re being honest). Someone sent royalist Jennie Bond out to speak about Charles’s “great sadness.”

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has said that Meghan and Harry will give Archie a ‘magical’ birthday – but any contact with his British grandfather appears unlikely. She said that this situation will cause ‘great sadness’ for the King.

‘He always loved Harry – he called him “darling boy”. And I’m sure he still loves Harry and would love even more to be able to spend time with Archie and Lilibet’, Bond said. ‘Charles is a sentimental man and a doting grandfather to George, Charlotte and Louis. And I’m sure as his struggle with cancer continues, he thinks more about the great loss of not being able to spend time with Harry’s children’.

Ms Bond added that she would hope that the royals will reach out to Archie, even though there is a rift with his parents.

‘It would be very nice if the King, and William and Catherine, marked young Archie’s sixth birthday in some way. After all, it’s not the poor little lad’s fault that all this has happened. So I hope that, either publicly or privately, they do at least send the little boy their good wishes’, she said.

Don’t hold your breath, Jennie Bond. Charles has made it abundantly clear for years that he wants nothing to do with Archie or Lili. He evicted those kids from their British home, he has refused all invitations to California (even to Lili’s christening), he has refused to extend invitations to those kids and he will not guarantee their safety if they ever step foot on British soil. Sucks to be a terrible old man. Long live Prince Archie!
