Amanda Bynes has been keeping it pretty low key lately (or at least the past few weeks), it seems – at least as far as the media attention goes – and hopefully that’s a sign that she’s doing better. Unfortunately, with mental illness, it’s a life-long struggle that you don’t just wake up one day completely recovered from – it doesn’t work like that. However, now she’s posted a new selfie in which she is looking lucid (and fashionable?) and hopefully it’s a sign that she’s on her meds and doing well. Here’s the big part of this story, though, for me. US Weekly posted this photo with the caption, “Get it, girl! Amanda Bynes appears healthy, slim in new photo!” Uh… yes, she does appear slim, as she has battled with a severe eating disorder for many years. Who in the hell thinks that’s in good taste? This kind of publicity is exactly what reenforces this disordered behaviour. Like, what? Anyway, I hope Amanda IS feeling healthier and on the path to a bit more normalcy, to say the least. Amanda Bynes is sorry you found out about her wanting to murder her dad

Look, I know Amanda Bynes is seriously mentally ill and in need of real, sustained help, but this is a celebrity gossip site and she is a celebrity. We’re reporting on it, okay? Okay. Last weekend her roommates released some audio recording of Amanda fantasizing about how she wants to kill her dad, and that made it clearer than ever that the girl is not only a danger to others, but to herself, as well. Things have finally gone too far for Amanda, and she’s decided to release a statement (to Access Hollywood, of all places) on the recordings. “I’m sorry I trusted people who clearly were not my friends and capitalized on my illness. I am doing my best to get better. I am truly sorry for the statements I made. I am sorry for any pain I caused my family and others,” Amanda said in a statement released to Access by her attorney, David Esquibias. “I am thankful for everyone’s patience and understanding. I never expected others to take advantage and profit from my condition. I’m disappointed with those who lulled me into a false sense of security only to find out they really are only interested in selling my privacy to the media.” I mean, obviously these “friends” she was staying with are scumbags and she should get away from them (and into a mental health facility, but that’s neither here nor there), but also… she clearly was talking about hurting her family. While she later tweeted that she was “joking” (no doubt on the advice of her attorney), sorry… no one jokes about that. Amanda Bynes has a secret crazy Twitter account

Amanda Bynes used to run wild on Twitter, but that got shut down when she was put on her 5150 hold. While she has come back to the @amandabynes handle once or twice, it turns out that’s her team/parents running that account, presumably to make Amanda seem far more lucid than she is in reality. So what did Amanda do? She got a “secret” Twitter account using the handle @PersianLA27… and guys, it’s nuts. The account only has about 7,900 followers but Perez Hilton converses with her all the time and it’s pretty widely known that this is Amanda. We even had a tipster send in the suggestion to follow the account yesterday (so thanks @MoaningMomma for the tip, and you’re welcome everyone else!). You can gleam a lot from reading down the timeline. Amanda claims she wasn’t kicked out of fashion school, that she was never arrested and it wasn’t her because she doesn’t do drugs (while tweeting about drugs in other posts), that she wants to be known by the name Ashley now instead of Amanda, yada yada. Is it a giant hoax? Who knows. Apparently Amanda’s hairdresser is sticking up for her, claiming that she ‘can’t trust anybody’ since her second DUI arrest and the media is basically being awful to her (via People): “She’s very well aware that everyone’s attacking her,” says Lindsey White, a hairstylist who’s worked on Bynes’s mane several times in the last month. “She can’t really trust anybody.” “She is such a sweet person,” White says. “It sucks that somebody doesn’t even want to go outside to a restaurant because they’re so paranoid about the way they look because they’ve been so trashed by the media.” Maybe Lindsey White needs to realize that she’s part of the problem since she’s TALKING TO A CELEBRITY GOSSIP MAGAZINE. Amanda Bynes Posts New Twitter Pics

Amanda Bynes is back on twitter, and she’s back to posting pics — but they’re totally normal. It looks like maybe she got the help she needed, because the girl seems well-adjusted and healthy, at least judging from the pics she posted. Though she’s had problems with her family in the past, these photos (above and below) show her smiling with her parents at an FIDM fashion show. I think she realizes that anything she posts on Twitter is going to be carefully scrutinized, and I think it’s great she’s showing this happy side. Hopefully she knows what she’s doing.
