Emma Stone wore Louis Vuitton to the ‘Kinds of Kindness’ Cannes premiere

It’s hard to believe that Emma Stone is now a two-time Best Actress Oscar winner. And yet, it’s not that hard to believe. Emma is widely considered to be one of the best actresses of her generation, and the fact that she’s leaned into making (and producing) weird, arty, offbeat films adds to her allure. Speaking of, Emma was in Cannes to promote Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness. She’ll probably get another Oscar nom out of it, all things considered. Emma delivered at the Cannes premiere, wearing a rich-looking Louis Vuitton (she’s a brand ambassador). I honestly love the dress, which surprises me. I think this is a very good look overall for Emma, but I wish she would have “dressed it up” a little bit more. Bigger earrings or half an arm full of bracelets.

Emma’s costars were there as well – Hunter Schafer wore Armani Privé and Margaret Qualley wore Chanel. I love Hunter’s dress, it’s structural in a cool way.

Lily Gladstone sort of needed some structure – this Balenciaga was too much of a sack dress! She looks amazing in that saffron color though.

Look at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wearing yet another completely bonkers Falguni Shane Peacock gown. I love this absolutely silly energy.

Demi Moore wore Armani Privé – really blah, right?

Eva Green – who is on the Cannes jury this year – wore Iris van Herpen. No, this is too much??

Uma Thurman wore Burberry to a different Cannes premiere (Oh, Canada). Satin is so difficult and the sheath dress could have fit a bit better.

Anya Taylor Joy wore Dior to the Cannes ‘Furiosa’ premiere: incredible?

On Wednesday, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. It got a standing ovation and George Miller and Anya Taylor Joy were both in tears by the looks of things. Anya has been doing the most to promote this film for weeks already, but Cannes was by far the biggest red carpet for the film. Anya delivered – a pale Dior gown, alabaster skin, white-blonde hair and blood red lips. She looked otherworldly. She looked like she was created by AI. She looked like an old Hollywood movie star. What a moment. (That being said, I’m not crazy about this Dior, but the actual dress was beside the point.)

Chris Hemsworth & Elsa Pataky were also on the carpet. I bet you anything Elsa was mad as hell that Anya got so much attention.

Naomi Campbell attended the premiere in a vintage Chanel look. Just one of thousands of priceless vintage pieces in her personal archives. Naomi looked amazing.

Eva Green wore Balmain – she’s forever a goth girl, but it’s fun seeing her interact with the other women on her Cannes jury. She seems to get along well with Greta Gerwig.

Greta Gerwig wore Armani Privé – a classic dress, done well.

Here’s the kicker: this person is Iris Mittenaere and she basically wore Game of Thrones/Mother of Dragons cosplay in Cannes.

Cannes: Greta Gerwig stuns in Saint Laurent, Meryl classes it up in Dior

The Cannes Film Festival kicked off on Tuesday with its first premiere, an opening ceremony, a press conference for the Cannes jury and more. Last year’s Cannes was a snooze, almost like they were trying to be controversial in the wrong direction (a Johnny Depp premiere) and trying to mute the one thing which people enjoy about Cannes: the glamour and fashion. This year, the festival put three very fashionable women on the jury: Greta Gerwig (she’s the jury president), Lily Gladstone and Eva Green. On the first night, Meryl Streep was honored and several amazing French actresses came out (Lea Seydoux, Juliette Binoche). The festival is really trying to bring eyes back to the south of France.

So, let’s get to the fashion. On opening night, Greta wore Saint Laurent – a very smart gown in a great color. Hours beforehand, Greta’s photocall look became THE topic of conversation on Fashion Twitter – she wore a Maison Margiela dress with a corset bodice and overdrawn hips. I kind of hate that dress, but I love the Saint Laurent.

Lily Gladstone wore Gucci and Eva Green wore Armani to the opening night. I imagine both women have their pick of designer frocks for the festival, and I’m excited to see what Lily brings out. This Armani on Eva is a bit different – usually she goes for goth-glam, this seems more goth-princess.

Meryl Streep looked amazing in Dior. Seriously, what a fantastic dress for her.

Juliette Binoche also wore Dior Haute Couture – I like the dress a lot and her face card is eternal. But the wet-look hair is killing me.

My least favorite look of Day 1 was Léa Seydoux in Louis Vuitton. Blah.
