Lauren Sanchez wore Roberto Cavalli to the Cannes amfAR gala: yikes or fine?

The Cannes Film Festival is winding down, and the Closing Ceremony will be held this weekend. Thursday night was one of the final nights for big premieres, and you could tell that people are running low on energy across the board for these red carpets. Also happening last night: the annual amfAR gala adjacent to the festival. The gala was really a who’s who of “no thanks.” Kevin Spacey has been stalking around the festival this week, and he turned up at the amfAR gala for some reason. Disgusting. But on-brand for Cannes – they love Hollywood predators and abusers. One of the other big-name guests at the gala? Lauren Sanchez! She’s been around the festival all week, not attending any of the premieres or screenings, but attending some of the charity events. She walked the amfAR carpet solo, but Jeff Bezos was there, inside the event. Sanchez wore a Cavalli gown.

Paris Jackson wore a wacky dress to the amfAR gala, but overall, she looks pretty good.

Speaking of cleaning up nice, Cara Delevingne wore Ashi Studio. I find this rather boring fashion-wise, but I’m happy to see Cara looking so healthy and pulled-together.

Prince Harry’s cousins Lady Eliza Spencer and Lady Amelia Spencer were on the Cannes red carpet:

Aishwarya Rai wore Gaurav Gupta last night – she’s so beautiful!

Helen Mirren wore Badgley Mischka – I feel like this is very British (derogatory).

Emma Stone wore Louis Vuitton to the ‘Kinds of Kindness’ Cannes premiere

It’s hard to believe that Emma Stone is now a two-time Best Actress Oscar winner. And yet, it’s not that hard to believe. Emma is widely considered to be one of the best actresses of her generation, and the fact that she’s leaned into making (and producing) weird, arty, offbeat films adds to her allure. Speaking of, Emma was in Cannes to promote Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness. She’ll probably get another Oscar nom out of it, all things considered. Emma delivered at the Cannes premiere, wearing a rich-looking Louis Vuitton (she’s a brand ambassador). I honestly love the dress, which surprises me. I think this is a very good look overall for Emma, but I wish she would have “dressed it up” a little bit more. Bigger earrings or half an arm full of bracelets.

Emma’s costars were there as well – Hunter Schafer wore Armani Privé and Margaret Qualley wore Chanel. I love Hunter’s dress, it’s structural in a cool way.

Lily Gladstone sort of needed some structure – this Balenciaga was too much of a sack dress! She looks amazing in that saffron color though.

Look at Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wearing yet another completely bonkers Falguni Shane Peacock gown. I love this absolutely silly energy.

Demi Moore wore Armani Privé – really blah, right?

Eva Green – who is on the Cannes jury this year – wore Iris van Herpen. No, this is too much??

Uma Thurman wore Burberry to a different Cannes premiere (Oh, Canada). Satin is so difficult and the sheath dress could have fit a bit better.

Julia Roberts wore a Louis Vuitton tuxedo-jumpsuit in Cannes: cute or ugh?

Here are more photos from the Cannes Film Festival, from Thursday’s red carpets. At first, I only saw Julia Roberts from the waist up, and I thought it was cool that she wore a suit. But then I saw the whole look… my God. This is Louis Vuitton and it’s my sad duty to inform everyone that LV is back to f–king up everything. This isn’t even a suit, it’s a jumpsuit!!! It’s all one piece, with built-in “tails.” It’s so unflattering. Julia has a nice figure too – it’s not difficult to find flattering clothes for a tall, lanky woman. You have to TRY to f–k it up. That being said, I have felt that Julia’s current stylist (whoever she’s been using in the past five years or so) kind of hates her.

Deepika Padukone in Louis Vuitton. The color is gorgeous on her. The dress is pretty, but it would have been so much more sophisticated without the peplum.

Rebecca Hall in Gucci. Hall is there as a member of the Cannes jury, btw. That’s why we’re getting so many photos of her. This was a good look, honestly. I don’t hate it. Julia should borrow Rebecca’s stylist.

Alessandra Ambrosio in Stephane Rolland. Hilariously bad, offensively cheap-looking.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in a custom Gaurav Gupta. I mean… the idea of it is fine. Big, sculptural couture on a beautiful woman. The execution though… yikes. The wave/pattern of the fabric is kind of unflattering and I’m not sure pale pink/lilac is Aishwarya’s best color. Still, it was a moment.

Jennifer Connelly looked severe in Louis Vuitton at the Cannes ‘Top Gun’ premiere

In the South of France on Wednesday, the stars of Top Gun: Maverick descended upon the Croisette for a big, splashy, not-in-competition premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. The premiere got an excellent turnout – so many of the biggest names come out for the first four or five days of Cannes, then the red carpets get a bit weaker. Tom Cruise was clearly in his element. He’s promoted films at Cannes before, but it’s been years (decades, really) since he’s done this kind of big Cannes premiere. The festival was super-happy to have him there too – the festival gave him a special surprise: an honorary Palme d’Or, their top prize. The audience gave him a five-minute standing ovation. I know, I know, but I believe it was probably all about his career, not his cult.

Jennifer Connelly and the rest of the Top Gun cast was there, and they walked the carpet en masse. It was kind of cool. Connelly wore Louis Vuitton. I honestly don’t hate the dress, but I don’t care for her styling. She and Rooney Mara are both obsessed with that severe, scraped-back hairstyle and minimal makeup with ghostly pale skin. What I wouldn’t give to see Rooney or J-Con do bouncy, fluffy hair on a carpet.

Some other notable ladies at the Top Gun premiere – here’s Elle Fanning in a pale, bespoke Armani. This is stunning on her, and I’m usually not a fan of this kind of thing. She’s so beautiful and such a fashion girl.

Adriana Lima is pregnant (which I forgot) and she wants us to see her bump. That’s why she wore this Balmain. It’s fine, good for her.

Eva Longoria wore Cristina Ottaviano. Did she get a new stylist or something? She’s looked a lot sleeker so far. It really works!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda. A mess, Aishwarya!!! I love this lady but this is a whole g–damn mess. She looks like she’s smuggling a flower shop into the premiere.
