The British media was on the outside looking in as the Montecito royals pulled off a flawless royal tour of New York. Prince Harry and Madame Duchess Meghan organized their own schedule and highlighted the issues they wanted. They paid respect at the 9/11 Memorial and boosted tourism. They appeared at the Global Citizen festival and got a huge ovation. They had meetings with public health officials and United Nations officials, and continued to promote vaccine equity. And all the Daily Mail could do was have a series of meltdowns about Meghan’s coats, jewelry and fashion. The British media is now digging in with an argument that “virtue signaling” Meghan and Harry were terrible because they flew back to California on a private plane.
Harry and Meghan have touched down in Santa Barbara, California to be reunited with their children Archie and Lilibet after their whirlwind tour of New York – after a wire poking out of Harry’s pocket suggests the trip will be part of their multi-million dollar Netflix deal.
Exclusive pictures obtained by DailyMail.com show the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returning home Saturday night. Touching down in their private jet, the virtue signaling couple and fossil fueled ‘eco-warriors’ embraced members of staff who had accompanied them on the pseudo royal tour before heading back to their Montecito mansion.
Meghan look-a-like, and CEO of the couple’s Archewell organization Mandana Dayani was among the staff whom the Sussex fondly hugged goodbye at Santa Barbara’s private airport Saturday.
Much like the word “woke,” I do not believe these salty British people understand what “virtue signaling” actually means. These pieces are just being written by a bunch of 50-something white men who half-remembered some terminology on The Root. Anyway, yes, Harry and Meghan took a private plane, which is very, very bad except when William, Kate, Charles or Camilla do it, and then it’s terribly necessary because they’re so important. Let’s see how Penny Junor spins it!
Their actions have come under scrutiny from royal author Penny Junor, who questioned why Harry and his wife did not take scheduled flights like his father Prince Charles, or his brother Prince William. She told The Sun: “I’m sure there were plenty of scheduled flights. I do not understand why they are behaving as if they are superstars. His father has been known to take scheduled flights. His brother takes scheduled flights. This totally muddies the waters of their climate message. They are shooting themselves in the foot by taking private flights.”
The message of their trip was actually vaccine equality…? I also think taking a private plane probably made a lot of sense for H&M because they were clearly not alone on the trip. They had their Archewell team and likely a film crew with them too. They weren’t taking up a private plane for just two people – they were probably rolling around with about fifteen-to-twenty people total by my estimation. And if they had the film crew with them, that means sensitive camera equipment, and insurance and all of that. A private plane was probably just easier at every level. But truly, I love this: “I do not understand why they are behaving as if they are superstars.” Because they are? Get your nose out of their business, Penny Junor. They don’t “belong” to Salt Island anymore.
