It’s truly fascinating to see how the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became the blueprint for the crusty Windsors. The Windsors used their power and their media to marginalize, abuse and harass Meghan and Harry out of the country, and now those abusers are copying every single thing the Sussexes do. I can just imagine the look of smug contempt when Prince William worked out *his* streaming deal! William has worked out a deal with Discover to stream a limited series on the Earthshot Prize Awards. But…I thought streaming deals were un-royal and gauche? I thought it was all too Hollywood and déclassé? Oh well.
The Duke of Cambridge, 39, is ramping up for his Earthshot Prize Awards on October 17, and PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that the ceremony at Alexandra Palace in London will be preceded by a five-part limited series on discovery .
“We can create a different future, a better future,” William says in the trailer for the series, “but only if we reach for it now.”
Led by William, the teaser features some of the prestigious voices from The Earthshot Prize Council as they describe this moment as “the decisive decade” for turning the tide on climate change’s negative impacts on the planet.
One sentiment from the trailer is especially close to William’s heart when it comes to his ambitious initiative: “I want to be able to look back and say humanity woke up. We have this incredible opportunity,” says one voice.
Well well. I’m genuinely assuming that the five-part series will be more about the nominees and their work, and it won’t just be five hours of Baldingham muttering “how will I look my children in the face if I don’t stand up and say I’m keen about the environment?!” Also: once I created the idea of a “Keenshot Prize,” I’m sort of mad that it’s not actually called that. I have to do a double-take every time now and remind myself that it’s not actually called Keenshot.
Surely you also heard that Prince Charles is getting into the streaming game too? Charles has teamed up with Amazon Prime to launch a “TV channel” called RE: TV. It’s all about sustainability, climate and environmental issues. I’m telling you… H&M were the blueprint. I seriously doubt there would be all of this movement towards streaming five-part limited series and creating Amazon Prime channels if Harry & Meghan had not gone there first.
This is the trailer for the “five part series,” which I guess will also air on the BBC. I guess Discovery is for the Americans who want to hear Baldemort talk about his keenness.
