Here’s what Caitlyn said in a statement about the announcement:
“Things have been moving so quickly that it will be nice to slow things down a bit and take the proper time to reflect on this journey. I couldn’t pick a better team, in Grand Central and Buzz, to make sure this story is told with a lot of honesty and care.”
The book hasn’t been written yet, obviously, but it’s due to come out sometime in 2017. Frankly, I suppose I should say “good for her” for sharing her journey, but like… really? Do we need to know any more? Don’t get me wrong – I think it’s fantastic that Caitlyn was able to make such a brave decision to be herself, especially at her age… but like, she’s been a less than stellar example for the trans community, is super conservative, anti gay marriage (which is rich, considering…).
I guess I just don’t think she’s that great of a person, and I don’t really get the fascination. I’d much rather read, say Candis Cayne’s biography. She’s infinitely more fascinating, kinder, and altogether more likable (so why she likes Caitlyn so much is beyond me). Or what about Laverne Cox? Those are literally just two wonderful trans entertainers and activists far more deserving of our attention… but you know, the Kardashian/Jenner clan rules everything, so this is what we’re left with.
