Kristen Johnston Almost Paralyzed From Lupus
Kristen Johnston (probably best known for her role in 30 Rock and falling out of a window on Sex and the City), has lupus — did you know that? I didn’t. Apparently, it almost left her paralyzed. She told her whole story to People. First, it started when she couldn’t climb a flight of stairs and doctors couldn’t figure out why: “I went to 17 doctors, and nobody could figure out what was going on. I didn’t know what was going to happen to me.” After months of painful tests, endless doctor visits and taking leave from work, Johnston, 46, finally visited rheumatologist Dr. Daniel J. Wallace, who diagnosed her with lupus myelitis, a rare form of lupus that affects the spinal cord. By then, the autoimmune disease had left her so weak and exhausted she couldn’t lift her neck without a brace. “If I had to live like that forever, I would have killed myself,” she says. Upon her diagnosis, the actress checked into the hospital for treatment, including chemotherapy and steroids. Six months later, “she’s in remission,” Wallace tells PEOPLE. “But if she’d waited a few weeks longer, she could have ended up quadriplegic.” I had no freakin’ idea any of this was happening to her, though I wondered why we hadn’t seen much of her lately. The whole thing sounds terrifying. She says that now, “Every single day is a gift, and I don’t take one second of it for granted.” People joke a lot about lupus thanks to House, but I gotta say, it sounds very scary and I’m glad she’s okay. Zooey Deschanel Is A “Fiery Feminist”
Zooey Deschanel made some comments recently for InStyle magazine that made me applaud. Well, I didn’t literally applaud my computer screen, but I sort of nodded and agreed internally. Like you do. She says that not every woman is “dying” to give birth and it brings out the “fiery feminist” in her. I say, you go Zooey. You go. Via Huffington Post: Like every woman is dying to give birth! I don’t think so. Nobody asks guys that. And you go into a supermarket and every tabloid is like, ‘Pregnant and Alone!’ Stuck in the 1950s ideal of how a woman should live her life. This brings out the fiery feminist in me. She’s right — NOT every woman is “dying to give birth” — I’m one of them, and I’m glad someone is voicing this. I just wish InStyle didn’t photoshop the everloving Zooey out of her. This is what she looks like. I don’t know who is supposed to be on that cover (below). Christopher Walken To Play A Singing And Dancing Captain Hook
Christopher Walken loves to dance (remember his Fatboy Slim “Weapon of Choice” music video?) and now he’s gonna do it live, on TV, as Captain Hook. If I had cable, I’d be excited. From PEOPLE: The Oscar-winning actor has been cast as Captain Hook in NBC’s upcoming telecast of Peter Pan Live!, the network announced Sunday. “I started my career in musicals and it’s wonderful after all this time, at this point in my career, to be in this classic musical I watched as a child,” Walken, whose dance moves can be seen on screen now in the movie adaptation of Jersey Boys, said in a statement. “It’s a chance to put on my tap shoes again.” The production will air Dec. 4 The Sound of Music Live! with Carrie Underwood didn’t go over very well, so I hope this one does better. Which Actress Is Ruining A Sequel With Her Drinking?
Blind item time! This one comes from Crazy Days and Nights. It’s about a B-list actress who is currently ruining a movie sequel with her excessive drinking. Here’s the item: This B list mostly movie actress is filming a sequel to a hit movie and is back drinking and drugging all the time which is making her performance look awful and putting the production over budget dealing with her issues. I have no idea who it could be but people over there are guessing Carrie Fisher, Brittany Snow, Anna Kendrick, and Michelle Rodriguez. Remember, here are the hints: B-list actress, mostly movies. Working on a sequel to “a hit movie.” Is “back” drinking and drugging. Guess away! I don’t think it’s Michelle Rodriguez because 1. she just wrapped filming and 2. the director posted a shot of him smiling with his arm around her on his Instagram a few days ago. Tracy Morgan Suing Walmart; Blames Company For Car Crash
Tracy Morgan is recovering from his car accident — in fact, he just left rehab, according to TMZ, which is great news — and now he’s suing Walmart, blaming the company for the crash. The man who hit the limo Mr. Morgan was riding in was impossibly tired, and Morgan blames the company for overworking him. From TMZ: Morgan filed suit in New Jersey alleging the company should never have allowed truck driver Kevin Roper to drive for nearly 10 hours straight after being awake for more than 24 hours. The suit — reported in the NY Post — claims Tracy sustained, “severe painful bodily injuries, including but not limited to multiple fractures which required multiple surgeries, extensive medical treatment and will require significant physical rehabilitation.” According to the lawsuit … Roper had driven 700 miles from his home to the Walmart distribution center before beginning his fatal drive. One person died when Roper was tooling along in his tractor-trailer at 65 in a 45 MPH zone and slammed into the SUV. Lindsay Lohan Says She’s “Willing To Work”
Lindsay Lohan was rumored to be missing rehearsals and/or showing up late to the London production of Speed-the-Plow. But she swears that’s not true and what’s more, she’s not going to miss any performances, because she’s “willing to work.” From Broadway World: When asked if she would be missing shows or rehearsals, Lohan stated, “That’s not going to happen. That’s not on the cards. It’s not. I’m at a place in my life where I like the commitment. I’m looking forward to that part of it.” She hopes her West End appearance will rehabilitate her public image. She stated, “I want to be known for my talents and my work that I create, rather than a tabloid sensation. However long it does take, I’m willing to do it. I’m willing to work for it.” In any other profession if you told someone you’re “willing to work” they would say, “Well, yeah, duh.” But because she’s Lindsay Lohan and she’s a troubled actress, her being “willing to work” is news. Cracks me up. Way to go, Lohan. Hope this is what you dreamed of. Kim Kardashian Thinks Pregnant Women Shouldn’t Leave The House
Kim Kardashian is offering her sage advice on pregnancy, and it may offend some pregnant ladies. Her advice is that pregnant women never leave the house. That’s what she told Elle magazine when asked for “pregnancy style tips.” Via Huffington Post: I recommend hiding for a good year and having no pregnancy style. That’s what I recommend. If you can do it, hide. Never leave the house. That’s really my recommendation. Wear a huge blanket. Okay, okay, I can’t hate on Kim too much for this one. Chrissy Teigen Hates Forever 21 Because They Called Her Fat
Chrissy Teigen, model and wife of John Legend, is getting real honest about clothing company Forever 21, and she’s mad as hell. I don’t blame her. Apparently, in her early modeling days, the company didn’t want to have anything to do with her, calling her “fat”. Here’s what she has to say about the whole thing, via Daily Mail: I showed up on set and they asked me if they could take a photo. And they shoot that photo off to my agency, who then calls me as I’m sitting in the make-up chair, and they say, “You need to leave right now. They just said that you are fat and you need to get your measurements taken.” And I hate you, Forever 21. I hate you so much. Honestly, you’re the worst. I wouldn’t call her waif-like or anything, but no way is she even remotely close to being what anyone would consider “fat”. What an incredibly f-cked up industry fashion is.
