Katy Perry’s Parents Want You to Pray for Their Daughter

Katy Perry is one of the most successful female artists on the planet.

She’s managed to stay relevant ever since the release of her hit single, “I Kissed A Girl” way back in 2008.

Her parents, Keith and Mary Hudson are deeply religious and recently lifted the lid on how they really felt about their daughter.

They revealed crazy information about the family across two packed services at the Church of Grace in Yorba Linda, California on July 17 and 18.

It isn’t news that the both Keith and Mary have been embarrassed by their daughter’s past. You only need to look at some of her music videos to find out why.

They even chimed in on her feud with Taylor Swift.

“Don’t judge her, pray for her,” they implored.

Okay then.

Her mother also addressed Perry’s new single, “Rise.”

“She [Katy] released a new song called ‘Rise.’ It says, ‘My feet have been put to the fire but I will rise.’ That’s what she’s about right now.”

Could this mean that the singer’s new material will be less racy than past efforts?

Keith noted that he recently spoke to Perry and even talked about the lyrics of the track.

“If you listen to this new song you know it ain’t over yet. She talks about some things. She’s good.”

“I want you to pray for my daughter,” he added. “Don’t judge her, pray for her. She’s going to be singing Rise for the Olympics this year. We’re very proud of it and her.”

It all sounds pretty bizarre.

At least we know that they like the new song more than her first big hit.

“We certainly like it more than ‘I Kissed A Girl,'” he said of her new music. “When ‘I Kissed A Girl’ came out we thought about moving to Venezuela because of the shame.”

Perry’s mom added: “We were going to save [former Venezuelan President who died in 2013] Hugo Chavez but it’s too late for that now.”

Keith took things one step further and commented on his days in the 1960s, taking drugs.

“I looked like John the Baptist coming out of the woods but I wasn’t eating locusts, baby. My candy was LSD! I was taking it like candy.”

Did anyone expect anything like this to come out? It came pretty much out of the left field.

Basically, they wanted to let us know that there was time they were ashamed of their daughter, but not now.

What do you think about it all?

Adele Releases “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” Video

adele send my love

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who doesn’t like Adele. Sure, some people think she’s overrated musically and that her songs are boring and a bit blah, but no one dislikes Adele as a human being, because she’s hilarious and incredibly down to earth despite the fact that she’s famous as fuck and she doesn’t really give a shit what anyone thinks. Plus, she’s absolutely stunning, as is more evident than ever in her new video for “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”, which, if I remember right, is a Max Martin jam that she wrote with him after being inspired by Taylor Swift, so there’s that.

Behold Adele in all her floor-length gown and way too long acrylic nail glory here:

I really love this track and think it’s super catchy and fun, and it also happens to be the most upbeat on the album. I love when Adele starts making me feel ready to jump out my window because she does pain and heartbreak like no other, but sometimes I just need her to turn on the sass, so obviously i’m here for this.

What do you think?

Zayn Malik Releases Debut Single “Pillowtalk” — VIDEO

I’m most certainly not a fan of Zayn Malik (nor am I of One Direction, but I like the group better than I like this dipshit’s solo efforts), but apparently he thinks he’s good enough to launch his own career outside of the band. This, despite the fact that he was put in One Direction by Simon Cowell because he wasn’t good enough to roll solo. My, how times have changed! Zayn’s here to regale us with “Pillowtalk”, a Justin Bieber/Chris Brown-inspired ditty covering topics of sex, fucking, and how much he loves fucking all night long. It’s truly… something else.

The video features him making out and getting sexy with Gigi Hadid, his rumoured girlfriend (which he denies, despite the fact that they’re attached at the genitals and have been for the past several months), and it’s all very… boring and terrible, not half because it’s by Zayn Malik of One Direction. Of all the boys to go solo, I always thought (and halfway hoped) it would have been Harry Styles first. Zayn leaving the band so he could “discover his voice” or whatever was fine, but I just hoped that we wouldn’t be subject to hearing that voice when he found it.

Well, that’s that. He’s got a full-length album coming out in March, which will probably sell like hotcakes to wistful 1D fans that are still devastated that he left the group and are desperate for any semblance of the band they once knew. I’m all for mindless pop music with a good beat, but I just think he’s an absolute tosser, as my English friends would say, and I can’t entertain a single second of him because of it. Sorry, Zayn!

Taylor Swift debuts ‘Out of the Woods’ music video on NYE: fun or silly?

Are we in the clear yet? #OOTWMusicVideo Premiering at approximately 10:51pm EST on ABC

A photo posted by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

As we all know, Taylor Swift’s 1989 has many thinly veiled blind-item songs about her months-long, on-and-off thing with Harry Styles. When the album first came out, I remember in-the-know Swiftloonies saying that “Out of the Woods” was one of the most obvious ones, with several lyrical callbacks to her relationship with Styles. So… even though Swifty is happy with Calvin Harris now (and stockpiling references about him which will go on her next album), she’s still dealing with Styles in various ways. So while One Direction performed on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Swifty made sure that the night was also about her. She debuted her new video for “Out of the Woods” on the show, without even having to show up in person.

“Out of the Woods” is the music video she filmed in New Zealand in November. There was a controversy because Taylor’s film crew was massive, and the beach they were using has strict limitations as to the allowed vehicles, which is why “Swifty hates endangered Dotterels” is a thing. Anyway, here’s the video (which probably killed some endangered Dotterels).

Adele Dethrones Taylor Swift As Queen Of YouTube

For a while now, Taylor Swift has comfortably been sat upon her Internet throne, knowing that she had won the 24-Hour Vevo award. In other words, her “Bad Blood” video had received 20 million views in 24 hour — and impressive feat, and better than any other artist, including the likes of One Direction and Miley Cyrus, had ever achieved. However, the fun’s all over for Swifty now, as Adele has easily outdone her with 23 million views in the 24 hours after “Hello” was released on Friday million. You go, Adele!

Now, less than five full days later, the video has just about 90 million views. No doubt this will be breaking some more records in the day to come, but I think it’s clear that Adele is back and ready to “snatch wigs” from all the other pop stars that have comfortably been resting at the top of the charts while she took time off.

Fifth Harmony cover ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’

fifth harmony

Maybe you’ve heard of Fifth Harmony, maybe you haven’t. They won the US version of The X Factor before it was canceled and released a single called ‘Boss’ earlier this year that was actually pretty good if you ignore the idiotic lyrics (“Boss/Michelle Obama/Purse so heavy/Gettin’ Oprah dollars”). Now they’re covering one of the most iconic Christmas songs of all time: Mariah Carey‘s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’:

I want to like this version, I really do. I want to not want to be constantly distracted by Camila’s awkwardness (the one that looks like a bird). I want these girls to do well because America is not into girl bands and I do think they’re talented… but yeah, I dunno. This one doesn’t work for me.

Though it is arguably better than what happened at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting this week…

Gwen Stefani releases ‘Spark the Fire’ video

gwen stefani

Gwen Stefani is getting back in the swing of things as far as her music career goes, and her first offering to the world in several years is this: ‘Spark the Fire‘, a semi-shitty rap/pop whatever-the-hell you’d call it that’s… not very good. I mean, even Fergie’s comeback single is better than this shit.

I love Gwen and think she’s absolutely divinely beautiful, but I feel like she probably needs to give the music a rest. Your mileage may vary, of course… I’ll let you decide for yourself:
