Gloria Vanderbilt, fashion icon, dead at 95

I want to say my Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were literally my very first foray into fashion.  The first “label” I had to have. I was like 10.  This news is devastating, although she had a long long life. The American artist, author, actress, fashion designer, heiress and socialite was born in 1924. Vanderbilt was the daughter of Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt and Gloria Mercedes. The Gloria Vanderbilt collections have included clothing, jewelry, perfumes, shoes, leather goods, sheets, paper goods and home furnishings. The company trademark was taken from her first professional stage play, “The Swan.” She is the mother of CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper. Tim Conway, dead at 85

I don’t usually subscribe to the so called “rule of threes”.  That celebrities die in 3’s.  Its usually some nobody that rounds it out.  But this last week has really been hard on our old timey stars.  Peggy Lipton, Doris Day and now Tim Conway. Tim was a staple on The Carol Burnett Show and enjoyed constant fame even into his 70’s. He was even in episodes of the Simpsons, 30 Rock and Spongebob! Conway’s longtime colleague, Vicki Lawrence, also paid tribute. “Hysterical, crazy, bold, fearless, humble, kind, adorable… all synonyms for Tim Conway,” Lawrence said in a statement. “I am so lucky to ever have shared a stage with him. Harvey and Tim are together again…the angels are laughing out loud tonight.” He had been battling a longtime illness prior to his death, Howard Bragman, Conway’s representative, said. He was not suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, Bragman said. Conway was married twice, first to Mary Anne Dalton from 1961 to 1978 and together they had six children. He is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Charlene Fusco. The family has asked that instead of gifts, donations be made to The Lou Ruvo Brain Center at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada.
