Look, I have to come clean. I wasn’t even aware Morgan Wallen was a person. But that’s the way it is with me and Country Music. So this guy, he’s 27 and he’s famous (below the mason dixon line) and youth + fame often equals an unwarranted sense of immortality and worse, a lack of personal responsibility. Bosses at SNL were made aware this week of videos of Wallen out partying up the night and kisses girls by the handful. All without the necessary masking. Well they can’t risk the likes of Jim Carey or Mia Rudolf by having someone on set who may be covered in covid. So they pulled the plug on him. To his credit, he responded correctly. With an apology and a promise to do better. “I was getting ready for ‘SNL’ this Saturday, and I got a call from the show that I will no longer be able to play, and that’s because of COVID protocols, which I understand,” Wallen said on his Instagram. ‘I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this. I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down… I think have growing up to do.’ Well good on you. I respect that. America’s favorite Live show on Saturday night, SNL will be back live this weekend! How? The same shitty way other shows are back. It’s excruciating to watch, really. People talking over one another because the technology isn’t quite up to a national telecast from your den. SNL will air remotely produced content at its usual Saturday time slot on the broadcast network, a surprise return from its coronavirus-induced hiatus, according to a spokesperson for NBC. NBC is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News. The show will include a version of “Weekend Update” and other skits from cast members, though it was not immediately clear if the performances would be live. It will air at 11:30 p.m. ET. SNL, like most major broadcast shows that features guests and audiences, has been on hiatus since mid-March. I’m only peripherally even aware of who’s on Saturday Night Live anymore, let alone catch an episode. But when I saw they hit out on the Jussie Smollett case I just had to indulge. Worth it. Playing off the ridiculousness of the stories claims, the skit opens on producers of Empire arguing with Jussie’s agent (played by host, Sandra Oh) about whether he can return, meanwhile Smollett himself seems to be late. When he arrives …. (The video is below, if you just want to know what happened, read on) When suddenly Jussie, played by Chris Redd, busts through the door wearing a MAGA hat, a black eye and a plastic bag in his hands. He claims he’s been assaulted. A claim quickly dismissed by the others in the room. Smollett then brings attention to the bag in his hand saying “what the?” “What is that?” Oh asks. “I don’t know, I think it’s a bag of clues?” The others in the roam moan with disbelief. Jussie sorts through the bag pulling out some Colgate White Stripes “You think that’s racial?” Three letter K’s and the purple teletubby, to which he notes “that’s the gay one”. It’s then he’s told he can’t return to the show and his agent is dropping him as well. So well done, SNL. You took some chances with this one and while your show is still shitty overall, I enjoyed it. The post SNL Drags Jussie Smollett in pretty awesome skit appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
