This weekend, The Sun had an interesting and insider-y story on Taylor Swift, Tom Hiddleston and Calvin Harris. Think back for a moment to the glory days of early June. When Taylor and Calvin first split up, most of us gossip-watchers knew that there be would drama, because Tay and Calvin are equally petty and juvenile. But back then, did we know that it would get THIS bad? Did we know that Calvin and Taylor’s teams would be sniping back and forth at each other over whether Taylor cheated, etc? I don’t think anyone could have predicted this. The gist of this Sun piece is that Team Calvin says Taylor was likely screwing around with Tom for months before they went public. Team Taylor says Calvin was a sh—ty boyfriend anyway, so what does any of it matter? You can read the full piece here. Some highlights: Calvin is going for the jugular. Calvin’s history with Rita Ora is being used against him: Calvin did damage to Ora’s career after she cheated on him and they broke up, and now sources claim he’s doing the same thing with Swift. A source said Calvin felt “emasculated” and “It was a secret that she wrote the song. The secret came out and her rep confirmed it and that pissed him off. He went for the professional jugular with Rita Ora and it seems he’s doing the same again. The way he handled the split up with Rita and was angry about that was going for the professional jugular, and it seems he’s doing the same again. You don’t kill someone’s career. That’s one step too far. That killed her album, not letting her release any of the stuff they produced for it. It takes two years to put an album together, and then to be left with no tracks? Everyone’s saying, ‘Where’s the music from Rita?’ It’s not good.” Calvin wouldn’t attend the Grammys with Taylor. “There isn’t a better award you can get than a Grammy Album of the Year. It’s the ultimate accolade you can receive as a musician. If you’re the kind of guy who doesn’t want to stand by your woman on an important night like that then you’ll also be the kind of guy that gets a bit pissed off when your woman’s getting toasted for the biggest track of your career for the past five years. Taylor was furious and hated the way he never wanted to attend award shows and big music industry events with her. It was a Sunday night in LA and she felt he could have slipped away for a couple of hours to be with her.” Tiddles was happening in February? The Sun’s sources claim Calvin Harris believes that Taylor met Tom back in February and they were sort of carrying on for months behind Calvin’s back. Calvin is also pissed that Taylor only spent one day taking care of him in May following his car accident on May 20. A source says: “Taylor’s true colours are coming out. The truth is she met Tom in February and things are moving very quickly. She had vacated her relationship with Calvin way before she let on.” Calvin won’t be played by Swifty. “Calvin only tweeted to defend himself. He has been nothing but lovely to Taylor, even publicly wishing her well, despite her fast romance with Tom. He was angry because Taylor had made it sound like he had been trying to hide her input on the song — when it was her who insisted they kept her writing secret all along.”. [From The Sun] Before a flame war starts flaming, let me just say that I think both sides (Team Calvin and Team Swifty) were well-represented in this piece, meaning that both Calvin and Taylor’s PR people and friends are engaging a thorough tit-for-tat. It’s not a case of “poor Taylor, Calvin is being so mean!” Nor is it “poor Calvin, Taylor is so powerful!” They’re both fighting. They both care. They both have an axe to grind. I do think the fact that Calvin didn’t come to the Grammys with Taylor was the beginning of the end for their relationship. I also think that there was overlap between the “the end of Calvin and Taylor” and “the beginning of Tiddles.” And as I keep saying… Calvin and Taylor are so well-matched, it really is a shame they couldn’t make it work. Tom Hiddleston: Yup, My Relationship With Taylor Swift Is Real!
They caught him on a good day. Hours after it was announced that he was nominated for an Emmy, Tom Hiddleston hopped on the phone from Australia to do a bit of press. The Hollywood Reporter asked The Night Manager star a series of questions related to the Emmy Awards in September, all leading to the one thing everyone wants to know about: His relationship with Taylor Swift. It was early in Australian during the interview, where Hiddleston is currently filming Thor: Ragnarok. THR had a hard time believing that Hiddleston was going to celebrate his nomination by going to work, but the Brit suggested that he might toast his good news with co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. It’s not a publicity stunt.” This is the first time Hiddleston has directly addressed his burgeoning relationship with the 26-year-old singer. An Australian reporter attempted to do the same earlier this week, and came back with a polite “nope, not talking about that.” Tom Hiddleston Asked About Taylor Swift, Basically Hates His Life Maybe he felt bad for Swift, who is in the midst of an online beef with her ex and was publicly slammed by Calvin Harris on Twitter yesterday. All all he wanted to do was talk about how excited he was to see his British friends at the show. “I’m very much looking forward to seeing my friends who are nominated in the same category, Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba,” he said. “They’re both old friends of mine.” “I worked with Benedict a long time ago – six or seven years ago now, and he’s been a friend ever since. 2016 Emmy nominations: who got recognized & who got snubbed?
As previewed yesterday, the 2016 Emmy nominations were finally announced this morning in LA. It feels like people were especially excited about this year’s nominations, likely because there’s always the hope that the Emmy voters might begin to phase in some new shows and new people. And it seems like every year, we’re disappointed with the same old people and same old shows. Is it the same this year? I was really worried that Game of Thrones got snubbed in all of the acting categories, but NO! GoT actors flooded the supporting categories which… I agree with that. Dinklage didn’t need another nomination, but he is one of the best actors on the series, so be it. I LOVE that Kit Harington got nominated (SadFace might even win!), and I love that Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and yes, even Emilia Clarke got recognized. I know many of you will love that The Americans finally got some major love, as did Mr. Robot and Master of None. I’m not shocked that Downton Abbey got some noms (even though the last season was all over the place), and I’m not shocked that The Night Manager got some love too – it was a really well-done miniseries. Taylor Swift’s relationship with Tom Hiddleston is nothing more than a contrived publicity stunt, a source close to the British actor tells THG. Moreover, Hiddleston now regrets ever going along with it. We have omitted certain details such as the friend’s name, the London neighborhood in which he lives, and the pub in which he met Tom. While we believe the below account to be accurate, this is to protect our source’s identify for fear of retribution from Taylor Swift’s Squad. Kidding. Yet not really. Within the past seven days, this friend divulged to our source details surrounding the actor’s romance with a certain American pop star. Details suggesting, as we have theorized numerous times in the last few weeks, that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s romance is fake. Not just flaunting it a little extra for the paparazzi, either. We’re talking full on arranged by publicists, staged kissing photos levels of fake. How so? Let’s begin. This friend, who describes Tom as “a pleasant guy who is very talkative, charming, and humble,” passed this along within the last seven days: “Tom and Taylor’s relationship was initially set up by Taylor’s PR team after they bumped into each other at Anna Wintour’s house-party.” This was fueled in large part by “Taylor’s desire to stay relevant within the public eye until she decides to release her next album.” Given “Tom’s attempt to become James Bond,” and his involvement in Thor, Hiddleston was a prime target for Swift’s managers. Did Hiddleston balk at this? Of course, however, “she is a beautiful, successful, and a generally lovely girl,” so … he ran with it: “Tom was prepared to go along with it because he believed that he and Taylor would be able to find something in common with each other.” “At least have some fun together. It worked, and whilst he does care about Taylor, he is now beginning to realize that he may have made a mistake.” Most notably, our source hilariously adds, “after she insisted upon them meeting each other’s parents within the space of twenty four hours.” LOL. That would be a red flag for most guys, even those agreeing to a fake relationship. Talk about going from 0-100, REAL QUICK! “Taylor is practically glued to his side,” our insider adds. “After only one month of dating, she is talking about moving in with him, getting married, and having children with him.” “Tom has always had huge commitment issues, so Taylor talking to him about those things, and after such a short amount of time, is really beginning to freak him out.” “He thought that he could handle the paparazzi intrusion, but he’s becoming tired of Taylor’s insistence that their every move is photographed by somebody.” “He misses some of the anonymity that he had.” “Tom is well aware of what people, such as his fans, his friends, and even his own family, have been saying about him.” “But because he isn’t as used to the public scrutiny as Taylor is, he is finding it very difficult,” his friend laments. “He has always been passionate about his acting, and he wants that to be what he is known for, not ‘Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.'” “He feels like he has become a laughing stock, and it’s getting him down. Everything with Taylor is choreographed.” “He feels like he has no choice but to adhere to her demands because he knows how much influence she has (her break up albums and the such).” “He didn’t get with Taylor with the intention of having anything long term (the previous sources regarding him wanting to ‘have fun’ and ‘blow off some steam’ [are] correct).” “But being under the spotlight and knowing who Taylor is makes it difficult for him … he’s beginning to feel like he has no choice (such as her deciding to go to Australia with him).” How will this play out? It sounds like we know the answer, but it’s only a question of when, and how ugly the fallout will be: “He knows that, sooner or later, he is going to have to be honest with her so that they can finally go their separate ways,” the source adds. Tom Hiddleston & Taylor are already talking about Tiddlebabies, Tiddlematrimony
As I mentioned at the end of Sunday’s post, Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift had a “date night” in Australia this weekend. They went out to eat at Gemelli, an Italian restaurant in Broadbeach. While there are many details of the date night, unfortunately none of those details involve Tiddles feeding each other pasta and meatballs, Lady and the Tramp-style, nor do the details involve fudge and swan pastries. According to Us Weekly, “Tom looked smitten with her as they talked softly and she giggled a lot” and Taylor’s skin looked “a little more sun-kissed than usual.” Us Weekly’s eyewitness went on in barf-inducing detail: “They were beaming as they gave warm smiles to onlookers, like any new couple who just can’t hide their feelings for each other.” People Magazine’s eyewitnesses also noted that Taylor told restaurant staffers that Italian food is her favorite and she was super-excited to try Gemelli’s food. Tiddles spent “several hours at dinner before returning to their hotel in a chauffeured car.” People Mag also notes that Tom and Taylor have been exceedingly polite to their fans, many of whom have gathered outside the hotel. In fact, things are going so well in their nearly month-old relationship that Taylor is already thinking about Tiddlebabies and Tiddlematrimony. Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s relationship appears to be moving forward even faster than originally thought. Less than a month after they made their romance public, the 26-year-old pop star sees the 35-year-old Thor actor as husband material and the two have also talked about their desire to have kids one day, a source told E! News exclusively Sunday. “This is the kind of a man she would want to marry,” the source said. “She has said he would make a great dad. They have talked about what they want in the future and kids are something that they would both like down the line. They have very real and serious conversations about life.” Swift, the source added, likes Hiddleston’s “English ways…She has told me that she loves his accent and thinks he is so sexy. He acts very English. He is also a big tea drinker.” Another source told E! News Swift “loves traveling with Tom,” who “makes her feel so safe…They are the real deal. They laugh and travel well together. These past few weeks, they have learned many things about each other…she is getting very attached. Tom gives Tay more attention than any other man she has ever been with. She likes his maturity. He…is a very romantic and charming gentleman.” An insider had told E! News after Swift’s Fourth of July party the singer’s “squad” of female friends “all really like Tom and like how he treats Taylor” and that while “things are moving fast between them,” her friends are not worried “because they never have seen her this happy.” “Tay can’t stop talking about Tom,” the second source told E!
