Will a Friends reunion EVER happen? Many Gen-Xers have long hoped for the popular 90s sitcom to return in some fashion, whether it be a new season, a reunion episode, or even a movie. Since the show ended back in 2004 there have been constant rumors about it’s return, and Friends fans have held on to hope that it would happen.
But it’s not going to, so stop crossing your fingers.
The show’s co-creator Marta Kauffman has assured us all that Friends is never, ever coming back.
Marta tells E! she was recently in a bar enjoying Happy Hour with a friend when she overheard a group of people talking about a Friends reunion. She said they were giddy when they spoke about the show and all she could do was toss back her cocktail in amusement, because she knows IT’S NOT COMING BACK.
When Marta is done telling her story, she turns to the camera to talk directly to fans. She assures them no Friends reunion is happening, or will ever happen.
“I’m going to clear this up right now, no! Not happening.”
But does she see a Friends movie happening?
“No. Look, Friends is about that time in your life when your friends are your family. Once you have a family there’s no need anymore. I’d rather have people go, ‘Oh,please! Please!’ than ‘I can’t believe you did that, it was horrible.’”
Sorry to burst your bubble, kiddos, but like she said, it’s better to not mess with perfection.
