Who doesn’t love Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails? One of my favorite band to come out of the late 80s/early 90s, Nine Inch Nails are still relevant and rocking like it’s 1990.
This past weekend Trent and the boys gave us another reason to love them.
During their show in Las Vegas on Saturday, Reznor pulled out his iPhone 5S and FaceTimed with a friend, photojournalist Andrew Youssef, who is dying of colon cancer.
From Apple Insider:
In covering NIN’s performance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival this summer, Youssef described his emotional connection with the band’s music and lyrics entwined in his own battle with cancer.
Reznor began following Youssef on Twitter shortly afterward, and then invited him to a performance at the more intimate Troubadour in West Hollywood, where the two became fast friends. As Youssef’s condition deteriorated, his doctor advised against also attending the November 16th show at the Hard Rock Hotel as he had planned.
Youssef was brought “onstage” via FaceTime by Reznor, who pointed his phone at the audience and said to his pal, “I’ve got some friends I want you to meet.”
The crowd chanted, “Andrew, Andrew, Andrew!”
Trent Reznor and NIN then dedicated ‘In This Twilight’ to Youssef.
