Zach Galifianakis Rescued Woman From Homelessness, Is Her BFF

Zach Galifianakis Homeless Woman BFF

Zach Galifianakis took an 87-year-old woman to the premiere of The Hangover III.

Elizabeth “Mimi” Haist is not Zach’s mother, nor is she his aunt, but he has known for her more than 20-years.  He even rescued her from homelessness.

20-years ago, when no one knew who Zach Galifianakis was, he befriended a woman who volunteered at a local Hollywood laundromat. “Mimi” and Zach hit it off and the two became good friends. But after Zach became famous he stopped going to the laundromat where Mimi volunteered and the two lost touch. However, two years ago Zach found out that Mimi was homeless and living on a different person’s couch every night. He sprung into action, buying her a one bedroom apartment to live in. Zach and Mimi have kept in touch ever since.

Zach has even taken Mimi to red carpet events, movie premieres, and he even introduced her to actress Renee Zellweger. Never mind Mimi had no idea who Renee was. Renee didn’t seem to mind, and she’s since furnished Mimi’s home, and pays for all of her groceries.

Even though you don’t see Mimi in this red carpet clip from Monday night’s The Hangover III premiere, she was there.

Just another reason to love Zach. He hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from, and he hasn’t morphed into the typical narcissistic Hollywood asshole actor. At least not yet.
