That’s Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, aka 2023′s Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner, with mom Angelina Jolie, in the newest photo released from this summer’s Sleeping Beauty redo, Maleficent.
The young Jolie-Pitt plays the very young Princess Aurora, who will fall into a deep slumber when she grows up to be Elle Fanning, and I liked this anecdote Jolie gave to EW, along with the photo, about why her daughter was cast in the film. It’s not because she’s headed for Toddlers and Tiaras:
We think it’s fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors. That’s not our goal for Brad and I at all. But the other 3- and 4-year-old [performers] wouldn’t come near me. It had to be a child that liked me and wasn’t afraid of my horns and my eyes and my claws. So it had to be Viv.
Well, that’s just adorable. Maleficent comes out on May 30th.
