In this rare audio of The Doors’ frontman Jim Morrison, the rocker says he thinks “fat is beautiful,” and he loved it when he piled on a few extra pounds.
The audio recording, a 1969 interview with director/journalist Howard Smith, has been turned into an animation video for your enjoyment. Jim talks about the joys of being fat, like getting up early to make a huge breakfast, eating mashed potatoes for lunch AND dinner, and the feeling of being indestructible.
“What’s wrong with being fat? That’s what I want to know. Why is it so onerous to be fat? I don’t see anything wrong with fat.”
Jim recalls his college years when he was 35 lbs. heavier:
“I felt so great. I felt like a tank. You know? I felt like a large mammal. A big beast. When I’d move through the corridors or across the lawn, I just felt like I could knock anybody out of my way, you know. I was solid, man. It’s terrible to be thin and wispy because, you know, you could get knocked over by a strong wind or something. Fat is beautiful.”
In other Jim Morrison news, Before the End: Jim Morrison Comes of Age, an independent documentary is currently in production. Unseen video clips from Morrison’s life as well as interviews with his family and friends are to be included.
