Oh, how I love me some Jimmy Kimmel. The late night funny man recently pranked us all, and he did a damn good job of it too.
So….let’s go back to Miley Cyrus and that ridiculous “twerking” performance of hers at the VMAs. The word “twerking” became an overnight sensation, with news anchors everywhere saying it for the very first time.
Soon after Miley’s trainwreck, a “twerking gone wrong” video went viral. It showed a young woman making a sexy twerking video for her boyfriend. She twerks on the apartment door and lo and behold he roommate walks in, opening the front door and causing the twerker to fall over backwards. The twerker lands on a glass coffee table with lit candles, and her yoga pants catch on fire. The roommate, stunned, runs in place for a moment before running off.
It was funny, and nearly everyone who was on the internet saw it. But it was a prank. A scripted viral video, made with the intention of going viral, and Jimmy Kimmel and crew were the ones behind it. If this isn’t marketing genius, I don’t know what is.
