I apologize for using a misleading photo of Anthony Mackie as a lead-in to this post. Leo has looked pretty rough lately. He’s enjoying too much of the good life. Leo has been sharing the wealth by donating $7 million to ocean conservation. Part of that money offsets his huge carbon footprint, but it’s better than nothing. Leo has also done the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. He filmed his video from Lake Athabasca where he’s “learning about the Canadian tar sands.” Us says that Leo gave $100,000 to support the ALS Association. Amazing, right? Leo’s also promoting his own foundation in the process, but still.
Several other celebs have stepped up. The late challenge entries are getting more creative or more sarcastic, depending on how you look at them. Remember how Chris Evans did it in a suit? He nominated several co-stars, including Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan. I was pretty sure neither of them would do it. Right after Chris’ video posted to YouTube, Anthony shaded the challenge on Twitter. The timing of this shade could have been a coincidence. Anthony later tweeted about donating after watching Anthony Carbajal’s sobering video.
Anthony and Sebastian gave in and decided to “do” the ALS ice bucket challenge at Chicago Comic-Con. It was a weird weekend. Sebastian had already imitated Chris Evans’ penchant for grabbing co-stars’ moobs. Then things got semi-serious when Falcon and Winter Soldier accepted Cap’s challenge in this video. They mocked Chris and his “floozy” suit. Anthony sweetly nominated one of his Twitter followers. They got down to business. These two are such nerds:
Speaking of superheros, Henry Cavill did the challenge with Amy Adams from the Batman v. Superman set. Henry was wearing his real costume, and he looked fiiine. (He’s more than a footnote in Kaley Cuoco’s romantic life.)
Avenger Jeremy Renner did it in a kiddie pool (with Sam Rockwell).
Matt Damon used toilet water to illustrate the global water sanitation crisis and point people towards Water.org. Matt said Luciana thought he was gross for pouring toilet water on his head. He nominated George Clooney.
Tina Fey (nominated by Kermit the Frog) put her own twist on the challenge. She made a sizable donation.
