The big Star Trek Beyond premiere was last night to kick off the San Diego Comic Con. Most of the men and women treated the premiere like it was a really big deal, and they wore proper suits and gowns and couture. But not Forever Bae Idris Elba! If Idris is going to a San Diego premiere, he’s going to wear shorts and light blouse. Because he’s Idris Elba, damn it, and he can wear whatever he wants and still be the hottest guy on the carpet. I’m also including photos of Chris Pine’s questionable new facial hair, plus Karl Urban and John Cho. As for Idris, he’s been hitting the promotional trail pretty hard. It’s sad that he keeps getting questions about James Bond, but he has to realize at this point that he’s not getting the questions because people are truly curious. He’s getting the questions because EVERYONE thinks he would be an incredible Bond, and no one can understand why the decision hasn’t already been made. Big Driis also made his way to the Tonight Show this week. Some clips… Here’s Idris dancing. MY GOD. This man in motion. This man dancing. The man is so tall and fit. I want to climb him like a tree. And here’s Idris playing Box of Microphones with Jimmy. The game is cute, but you’ll stay to watch Idris move. Jesus, he looks good here. Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet.
They caught him on a good day. Hours after it was announced that he was nominated for an Emmy, Tom Hiddleston hopped on the phone from Australia to do a bit of press. The Hollywood Reporter asked The Night Manager star a series of questions related to the Emmy Awards in September, all leading to the one thing everyone wants to know about: His relationship with Taylor Swift. It was early in Australian during the interview, where Hiddleston is currently filming Thor: Ragnarok. THR had a hard time believing that Hiddleston was going to celebrate his nomination by going to work, but the Brit suggested that he might toast his good news with co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo. Does Hiddleston plan on bringing her as his date to the Emmys? “I don’t,” he told THR with a laugh. “I didn’t even know I could.” “It’s 4 in the morning here!” View Slideshow: Tom Hiddleston: 8 Things to Know About Taylor Swift’s New Bae Then came THE question: What say you about those who write off your relationship with Taylor Swift as a damn good PR move? “Well, um. How best to put this?” he started. “That notion is — look, the truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we’re very happy. Thanks for asking. That’s the truth. It’s not a publicity stunt.” This is the first time Hiddleston has directly addressed his burgeoning relationship with the 26-year-old singer. An Australian reporter attempted to do the same earlier this week, and came back with a polite “nope, not talking about that.” Tom Hiddleston Asked About Taylor Swift, Basically Hates His Life Maybe he felt bad for Swift, who is in the midst of an online beef with her ex and was publicly slammed by Calvin Harris on Twitter yesterday. Whatever the reason, Hiddleston has either put rumors to rest or awoken the beast. All all he wanted to do was talk about how excited he was to see his British friends at the show. “I’m very much looking forward to seeing my friends who are nominated in the same category, Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba,” he said. “They’re both old friends of mine.” “I worked with Benedict a long time ago – six or seven years ago now, and he’s been a friend ever since. And the same is true of Idris.” You can bet your bottom dollar Swift has already called up British designers to dress her for the Emmys. “Look you guys!” she’ll say to Idris and Benedict as she twirls in her Union Jack gown. “Ello, gov-nah!” Go home, Taylor. As previewed yesterday, the 2016 Emmy nominations were finally announced this morning in LA. It feels like people were especially excited about this year’s nominations, likely because there’s always the hope that the Emmy voters might begin to phase in some new shows and new people. And it seems like every year, we’re disappointed with the same old people and same old shows. Is it the same this year? Here are the major nominations, and you can see the full list here at the Emmys main site. This year’s Emmys telecast will be on September 18th on ABC. Supporting Actress in a Drama: Maggie Smith, Lena Headey, Maisie Williams, Constance Zimmer, Maura Tierney, Emilia Clarke [From Emmys.com] Those are the big ones, but you can see the supporting actor noms in Comedy here. I was really worried that Game of Thrones got snubbed in all of the acting categories, but NO! GoT actors flooded the supporting categories which… I agree with that. Dinklage didn’t need another nomination, but he is one of the best actors on the series, so be it. I LOVE that Kit Harington got nominated (SadFace might even win!), and I love that Maisie Williams, Lena Headey and yes, even Emilia Clarke got recognized. I know many of you will love that The Americans finally got some major love, as did Mr. Robot and Master of None. I’m not shocked that Downton Abbey got some noms (even though the last season was all over the place), and I’m not shocked that The Night Manager got some love too – it was a really well-done miniseries. And look, Tom Hiddleston got his first Emmy nomination! The Tiddlesbanging was all worth it, people! Photos courtesy of HBO, FX, WENN.
The Independent Spirit Awards are usually pretty loose and come-as-you-are, which means you usually don’t get Fashion Girls just showing up for the hell of it. Like, that’s what the Vanity Fair Oscar party is for. So I’m not entirely sure why Jessica Biel came out for the Spirits – she presented, but was she even IN a film in 2015? Let me check… yeah, she was, but no one saw her sad 2015 films. Still, Biel came out and she tried to “win” the fashion show in this Roland Mouret dress. If I’m being honest, I kind of like this. I love the colors, and I love the low-key vibe. I just want to rework it a little bit. The skirt should be longer and the top part needs to be a touch tighter, and she shouldn’t have tried to match her eye makeup to the dress. Also, check out her shoes! Rachel McAdams in Solace. God, I want her to look amazing at the Oscars. While this, to me, doesn’t make it up to “amazing” status, it’s pretty good. I like that she went for something slightly different, and this is the most I’ve ever like this shade of pumpkin. I kind of think the dress would have been even better if the whole thing was that shade of cream though. Bel Powley in Mary Katrantzou Pre-Fall 2016. I like this, I just wish it was fully lined. Right? I have a strange affection for laser-cut leather, but this needed a built-in nude slip. Idris Elba. G—damn this man can wear a suit. Photos courtesy of WENN.
