To promote her upcoming movie, Scary Movie 5, Lindsay Lohan made an appearance on Late Night With David Letterman Tuesday and it turned into a rehab interview. Something Lindsay wasn’t exactly prepared for.
Dave, who has never been known to be shy about asking the tough questions, pulled a rehab question out of the blue, and Lindsay’s facial expressions spoke volumes.
The photo above a still shot taken from the moment the question, “Aren’t you supposed to be in rehab now?” leaves his lips. Notice his face, he knows he’s taking her off guard.
Lindsay pauses JUST long enough to give Dave a “WTF are you DOING!?” face…
Then she answers, “Do you not watch anything that goes on? What are you a tabloid now? May 2nd.”
“And how long will you be there?” Dave continues probing.
“Three months,” she replies with squinted eyes that are trying to pierce Dave’s soul.
Dave continues, “How many times have you been in rehab?”
Lindsay pauses briefly then answers, “Several.” She scans the audience who laughs at her answer.
Dave lightens the mood. “How will this time be different? What are they rehabbing? First of all, what is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” The audience is still laughing, but I think it’s nervous laughter.
“We didn’t discuss this in the preinterview, I’m just saying.” She is now clearly annoyed.
“No, to be honest, I’m happiest when I’m working, and healthiest, and I think this is an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I think it’s a good thing, and it’s a blessing and…”
Dave interrupts. “A life saver, a career saver.” Lindsay agrees, but what else can she do in this situation? The audience claps their support and Lindsay thanks them.
But Dave’s not done yet! ”Now, do you have addiction problems?” he asks.
This time Lindsay’s ready for him.
“Now you sound like Dr. Phil,” she returns.
“Is it alcohol? Do you drink too much?” Dave tries one last time.
“We’ve discussed this in the past.”
“Really? When did we discuss this? I’m the one who’s having the blackouts!”
