Now that Harry has finished traumatizing the British people with his bad boy demands, the man formerly called HRH has arrived in his new homeland, Canada. He was only on the tarmac a moment when he dipped into an awaiting car and was whisked off to see his betrothed. Harry will be reunited with his wife and their eight-month-old son, Archie, for the first time since it was announced the couple would give up their royal titles, repay the $4m it cost the public to refurbish their Windsor home and stop receiving money from the state-funded sovereign grant. Speaking at a private dinner in London for his charity Sentebale on Sunday, Harry said he had not taken the decision to give up his official royal duties lightly, but there was “no other option”. “What I want to make clear is we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you,” he said. “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations without public funding. Royal wears ‘racist’ brooch to Christmas lunch with Meghan Markle
Princess Michael of Kent sparked fury after wearing a “racist” blackamoor brooch to the Queen’s annual Christmas lunch. The royal, who is married to the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael, proudly sported the brooch on her coat as she was driven into Buckingham Palace on Wednesday. Blackamoor is a style of artwork dating back from the 18th Century which is usually found in sculpture, jewelry and textiles in which black men and women are often depicted as slaves. The royal lunch would have been the first time Princess Michael met Prince Harry‘s biracial fiancée Meghan Markle. The American actress’s mom Doria Ragland is black and has often spoken of racism she experienced as a child and as an adult. Outraged social media users slammed her for her choice in jewelry. One said: “Has no-one noticed the blackamoor pin that Princess Michael of Kent is wearing? Really? Meghan Markle official meets the family and is greeted by THIS?” Another hit out at her “racist jewelry” while a third added: “I hope the Queen is going to ban this racist, horrible woman from any further gatherings. This woman is an embarrassment to the Royal Family.” It’s not the first time the royal — dubbed Princess Pushy — has been embroiled in a race storm. In 2004, she was accused of insulting black party guests at a New York restaurant by allegedly telling them to “go back to the colonies” in a row over noise. She strongly denied the claims and said she would be “ready to go back to the colonies” during the dispute with the table. Prince Harry opens up about depression, Megan and tons more
Britain’s Prince Harry got so sick of the royal treatment during his 20s that he considered living as a commoner — but stayed on for the Queen, he says in a new interview. “I spent many years kicking [up] my heels and I didn’t want to grow up,” he tells Newsweek’s Angela Levin. Harry, now 32, led a hard-partying life and told Levin he came “very close to a breakdown” several times and, on his brother’s advice, sought counseling when he was 28. He felt most at home in the Army, but when his assignment in Afghanistan was leaked by a magazine, he had to be withdrawn for security reasons. “I felt very resentful,” he said. “Being in the Army was the best escape I’ve ever had.” While in the Army, he said, “I wasn’t a prince. I was just Harry.” He also said he doesn’t think anyone in the royal family wants to be king or queen, but instead does so out of duty. Which… I feel like his dad really wants to be Kind, but whatevs. On Megan Markle, the Prince is still protective, but a person close to the prince says Harry is not rushing to “get things done”—royal-speak for proposing. Are Prince Harry & Ellie Goulding An Item?
I think we all can agree that Prince Harry is the hot one in the family, right? I love his buck wild free spirit and his refusal to bow to royal bullshit protocols. He’s not trying to get tied down and married and play the perfect little brother to the future king and I love it. Plus, he’s really cute. That being said, I’m really into the idea of him being with Ellie Goulding, which may or may not be happening according to new reports. I ‘SHIP IT! So where is the press getting the idea that Ellie and Harry are an item? Well… kind of out of their asses, but let’s go with it! Apparently they were “kissing under a blanket” at a recent polo match and have been feeling each other for a while. It’s an illicit love affair, since the royal family would never allow one of their own to be with a celebrity, but since when has Harry played by the rules? From The Sun: The royal insider added: “Harry got Ellie’s number a while ago and got in touch. They’d always got on very well through their various meetings after she was the wedding singer at Kate and William’s wedding reception. But things stepped up a gear and they had been in touch in recent weeks and their first really public meeting since was at the polo. It turned into a real party late into the night and there was a complete ban on taking pictures so Harry and the other celebrities there could feel comfortable. “Harry was really going for it after the polo – he was drinking and dancing. They were part of a wider group including Tom Hardy. But Harry and Ellie only had eyes for each other all night – they spent a lot of time sitting together under blankets. They were seen having a kiss before Harry had to go because he was playing polo the next day. Ellie left about five minutes later. “Harry was overheard on the way out telling some friends how much he liked her. But there’s already a lot of talk amongst friends that the palace wouldn’t allow her as a serious girlfriend because of her celebrity background.” First of all, if anyone is going to make a “serious girlfriend” out of someone with a celeb background, it’s Prince Harry. A lot of people think I’m a Taylor Swift-hater. I’m really not! I like to call her out on her bulls—t, of course, but I actually love her. I love that she rarely takes the high road. I love that she’s so smart in business and an absolute idiot when it comes to romance. I love that you can always count on Taylor to be a melodramatic narcissist. I even love the fact that absolutely NO ONE believed that Taylor and Calvin Harris’s split was going to be drama-free. Where’s the fun in that? So I had a smile on my face when I read People Magazine’s new exclusive story on The End of the Fairy Tale. Guess how Team Swifty is spinning the fact that Taylor got dumped again? Calvin Harris was intimidated by her success! Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift’s relationship ended because the DJ was “intimidated” by her success, a friend of the singer tells PEOPLE. “[Harris] said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honored, or any award shows unless he was nominated,” explains Swift’s friend. Harris, 32, was notably absent when Swift co-chaired the Met Gala last month, as well as at the Grammys ceremony in February, and when the “Bad Blood” singer accepted an award named after her at the May BMI Pop Awards. But Swift is holding her head high, adds the pal. “Taylor is an independent young woman, and she realizes it will take a very secure man to handle her success,” says her friend. A source close to the DJ – whom sources confirm ultimately pulled the plug on the relationship – tells PEOPLE that the split “wasn’t a shock” for Swift because the couple had ongoing issues. “They come from very different worlds,” the source explains. “Taylor is used to being treated a certain way.” The Harris insider added that he didn’t feel like the relationship was “leading anywhere.” “It wasn’t an equal relationship. She’s basically telling the world that she got dumped because poor little Calvin Harris felt emasculated by her success. She’s calling him insecure. She’s saying that he couldn’t handle the fact that she’s so rich, beautiful and acclaimed. Is that the truth? Does it matter? As for the quotes from Team Calvin sources… well, this was always the reason why Calvin and Taylor were perfect together. He gives as good as he gets, and he’s great at unleashing his inner bitch. “Taylor somewhat lacks real-life experience.” OUCH. He’s saying she’s immature, naïve and insular. “They will not be getting back together.” As in, she wanted to get back together and he didn’t. Meanwhile, the National Enquirer says that Taylor was convinced that Calvin was cheating on her after that now-infamous massage parlor incident. And sources claim Calvin was convinced that Taylor was cheating on him after he heard about her behavior with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala. There are a lot of people who think TIDDLES (Taylor + Hiddles) could be a reality soon. Still, other people want to see Taylor go for Prince Harry. Prince Harry covers People Mag: ‘I know I’ve got a lot of my mother in me’
While I always enjoy it when other media outlets join the #HonksForHarry revolution, I don’t think People Magazine did Harry’s hot/dirty ginger-snap sexiness justice with this cover. It’s too much of a close-up! Of course, maybe Harry didn’t want to look like a roguish ginger snap. After all, he’s talking to People about his mother and the Invictus Games. It’s serious! Do not think about dirty ginger snaps while reading this. Some highlights from what appears to be a far-ranging and substantive interview: His mother’s influence: “All I want to do is make my mother incredibly proud. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. When she died, there was a gaping hole, not just for us but also for a huge amount of people across the world. If I can try and fill a very small part of that, then job done. I will have to, in a good way, spend the rest of my life trying to fill that void as much as possible. And so will William.” But he’s not his mother: “I enjoy what I do. But I don’t do things because I feel as though my mother would want me to do them. I know I’ve got a lot of my mother in me. I am doing a lot of things that she would probably do.” Creating the Invictus Games: “You turn up and you think you’re invincible in a super-duper aircraft, but you’re helpless. Then I come back and I say, ‘How can I use my name and that spotlight to the best effect?’ ” Creating the Games, he notes, was “almost like a cure for that pain I had back then.” American kids never believe he’s a prince: “Every time I get to meet kids and they have been told a real-life prince is coming, the disappointment on their faces when they see me without a crown or a cape…I’m worried because the American kids, especially next to Disney World, are going to be thinking, ‘You ain’t no prince, you ain’t dressed like a prince, you’re having a laugh!’ So I am going to pack a crown and a cape this time and some funny pointy-toed shoes. I’m going to sign the crown out!” Doing the second Invictus Games in America: “It’s like trying to drop a second album. The second one is always harder! I find it interesting that he acknowledges that “I know I’ve got a lot of my mother in me.” It’s true. Journalists talk about it all the time. Harry-fans talk about it all the time. People who knew Diana talk about it all the time. He’s the one – not William – who is most like his mother. And I will never stop being fascinated with how differently the brothers access their memories of Diana. Harry speaks about Diana when he’s working, when he’s helping people, when he’s reaching out in empathy. William uses memories of his mother as a cautionary tale, and as cudgel against the press and critics. People also asked Harry if he wants to be settled down with kids and he said yes, he does want that but there’s “no rush.” Sigh… Also: Harry met Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau earlier this week as Harry did advance work for the Invictus Games.
