I don’t know how I missed this (because I have Cumber-exhaustion?), but Benedict Cumberbatch has a nice feature in the new issue of DuJour Magazine, the same issue with Angelina Jolie and Jack O’Connell on the cover. I’m including the DuJour photos in this post – they’re nice, but they were taken after The Terrible Haircut, so they’re not as hot as they should have been. You can read DuJour’s little interview with Benedict here – he’s just talking about Alan Turing, blah, etc. He once again compared the Bletchley group to The Avengers, which is still a funny comparison. It makes him sound like a Marvel wannabe.
Let’s see, what else? Benedict is scheduled to appear at the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards on Sunday night. I’m assuming he’ll shill a bit for his upcoming production of Hamlet next year, plus he’s supporting many of his friends in the theatre. Tom Hiddleston is nominated (although who knows if he’ll come), plus Helen Mirren, Carey Mulligan, Eddie Redmayne, Idris Elba and many more are scheduled to appear. And in case that isn’t oversaturated enough, on Monday night, Benedict will attend the world premiere (in London) of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.
Meanwhile, USA Today keeps releasing quotes from an interview they must have done with Benedict when he was in NYC last week. Go here to read the latest. There are some nice quotes from some of his coworkers (Julianne Nicholson adores him). When he talks about walking the TIG red carpet with Sophie Hunter, he says: “I wanted her to enjoy it. It was sort of a test run or something of that ilk. We’re going to be doing this for our whole lives, so this is what it’s going to be like. She was very cool with it and loved it.” Hm. I don’t even know what to say about this stuff anymore. He also calls the selfie obsession “a tragic waste of engagement…Enjoy the moment. Do something more worthwhile with your time, anything. Stare out the window and think about life.”
