Kendrick Lamar stayed humble by giving his sister a sensible car for her high school graduation — but some internet users gave him a hard time for not selecting a flashier model. The hip-hop wordsmith presented a silver 2017 Toyota Camry to his younger sibling Kayla Duckworth in honor of her recent accomplishment, and she clearly appreciated the gift. “Thank you big brother for my graduation gift!” she wrote in one of several Twitter posts about her new ride, each tagging Lamar. The sedan comes with a modest pricetag — a tick over $23,000 in its simplest model. The rapper has a net worth of $18 million, according to CelebrityNetWorth.com. And some douchebags didn’t think that was wasteful enough. “LMFAOOOOO Kendrick can’t buy his sister a better car than a Toyota Camry,” wrote one Twitter user. Another added: “If I gotta buy a car for ma sis ima make it look sexy.” Thank you big brother for my graduation gift! ?? @kendricklamar A post shared by Kayla Duckworth (@silnovia) on Jun 2, 2017 at 11:05am PDT The post Kendrick Lamar Gets Sister a Car for Graduation: Keeps it simple appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
Y’all know I can only drink the Beyonce Kool-Aid intermittently and I didn’t think much of Lemonade (though I realize saying that is unfair — that album was not made for me so who cares if I didn’t get it?) but I have to say, when Bey and Kendrick Lamar teamed up for a performance of “Freedom” to open the BET Music Awards last night was pretty fucking powerful. Again, I realize the irony in me calling the performance “empowering” as a white person, so I’ll just say this: it was a really amazing performance. Enjoy! Beyoncé & Kendrick Lamar's full performance of 'Freedom' – the empowerment is real. ?? #BETAwards https://t.co/l9jidkc33N — Music's Rebellion (@MusicsRebellion) June 27, 2016 The post Beyonce & Kendrick Lamar Open The BET Awards appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
Embed from Getty Images The BET Awards were held last night, and it seemed like a really nice event. They paid tribute to Prince throughout the evening, with Jennifer Hudson singing “Purple Rain,” Sheila E delivering a speech about Prince and Janelle Monae doing her own amazing tribute too – go here to see. You can see the full list of BET Award winners here. Beyond the Prince tributes, everyone’s talking about Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar opening the show with an extended version of Bey’s “Freedom.” That song is easily one of my favorites off of Lemonade, and Kendrick’s work on the track is GENIUS. Plus, it just feels like Beyonce and Kendrick are two artists at their absolute peak right now, and BET spent some serious money on the staging for this performance. It’s perfect. Anyway, here are some fashion photos from the event. Beyonce didn’t walk the carpet or anything, but the hostess did – here’ Tracee Ellis Ross in a vintage Thierry Mugler gown. The skirt is too tight and the wrong length! But otherwise, I do love her. Gabrielle Union wore Marc Jacobs. This was one of the best looks of the night. Alicia Keys wore a jumpsuit/onesie and no makeup. It’s the turban that made me go “hm?” though. I thought for a second that she had silver hair now. Karrueche Tran looked beautiful, right? But the dress is too tight. And finally, here’s Janelle Monae in Sass and Bide. This was one of my favorite looks of the night too. Photos courtesy of Getty, WENN.
