Kanye West ‘pushing hard’ for Anna Wintour to put Kim Kardashian on Vogue

I have to give it up for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. This would have been a slow week, gossip-wise, without them. They’ve been getting pap’d multiple times, in multiple outfits, every day. They’ve been releasing cheesy music videos and they’ve been the subjects of crazy tabloid rumors. Bless them. Anyway, here are some more photos of Kim and Kanye – they went out together for Kanye’s concert, and Kanye was pap’d earlier in the day going solo. Is it crazy that I think Kim looks pretty good in these pics? I don’t like her lighter hair, but the ombre thing is kind of working on her. But here’s the question: is Kanye’s genius styling for his fiancée so amazing that Kim will finally get that Vogue cover? HA.

Kanye West is pushing hard for his baby-mama Kim Kardashian to be on the cover of Vogue.

He even lined up editor Anna Wintour and the mag’s creative director Grace Coddington to sit alongside Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner at his concert Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.

The fashion doyennes and the reality stars made an unlikely foursome, and the sight of Lindsay Lohan a few seats down made the celebrity row seem even more surreal.

Kim was wearing a black dress with a completely sheer top showing off her ample bosom and black bra — a look that may not have impressed Wintour, who kept her dark sunglasses firmly on. Never one to be modest, West has proclaimed Kardashian worthy of a Vogue cover, given she’s “more relevant to fashion” than Michelle Obama, who’s made the magazine’s cover twice.

Kim and the first lady incidentally ended up in the same room at Italian restaurant Carbone on Monday night — Kim at a table with public relations pal Simon Huck, and Michelle at a different table with several colleagues.

I still can’t believe that Kanye even tried to compare Kim and FLOTUS, much less that he claimed that Kim was MORE relevant than Michelle. Ugh. So, will Kim get a Vogue cover? I doubt it. I know Wintour likes Kanye and I think if she wants to give Kanye something, she’ll maybe do a photoshoot with Kanye and Kim together, but NOT for a cover. I could see that being her compromise.

Meanwhile, have you guys heard that Kanye compared himself to the free man-turned-slave Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave? Kanye did not compare himself to Chiwetel Ejiofor (which would have been bad enough), Kanye compared himself to Solomon. Which… if you’ve seen the movie, is a really f—king horrible comparison. Kanye made the comparison during a podcast chat with Bret Easton Ellis. Kanye said:

“For me, I felt like the main character. In what I’m dealing with even as a mega-popular-rich-celebrity-f**k-you-who-do-you-think-you-are-to-complain-about-anything situation that I’m in, or in the past when I’ve dealt with attempting to create in other fields or in clothing, I’ve kind of been in this campaign that started with, ironically, my song, “New Slaves” where I was sitting in Paris and dealing with all of these companies that I promoted and I saw my friends promoted, and the reason literally why they would sell on Barney’s floors, is because me and Jay Z, everyone wore it,” West rambled.

“And it will be something that I sort of discovered maybe four years before that… putting it on trend. And then you start just doing more research and say, hey, I want to be part of the creative conversation and be able to make money off of that also, and they stop you right there and say, you can’t be a part of that conversation, or they give you a one-off, like, Louis Vuitton I did one shoe and Nike I did two shoes where they spread ‘em apart over four years and they had like, the most impact possible.

“And I kind of saw that side of what it was as a creative to be free, as the parallel of the main character in 12 Years A Slave. And then when it was taken away from me it felt like what it felt like as a creative to be enslaved, to have all of these ideas for product, things you were talking about earlier.”

Just to be clear, Kanye West is drawing a “parallel” between himself and Solomon Northup because Solomon was a free man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery, he was whipped and abused and terrorized for 12 years as a slave and Kanye is just like that because some people in Paris disrespected his style vision. Yes. It IS just like Solomon’s journey, Yeezus. Next he’ll be telling us that Fashion Week is just like the Holocaust.
