Ginnifer Goodwin: people roll their eyes when I get on a plane with a baby

Los Angeles Premiere Of Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Zootopia"
Ginnifer Goodwin of Once Upon a Time is pregnant with her second baby, with her husband and co-star, Josh Dallas. I would assume that she’s due around May, since the announcement was made last November. Goodwin voices one of the lead characters in the upcoming animated movie, Zootopia. She talked to US Magazine at the premiere about the challenges of being pregnant and raising a two year-old. It sounds like she considers air travel to be difficult, but not because her son is unruly on the plane, but because she feels judged by other passengers:

Once Upon a Time actress Ginnifer Goodwin and her costar husband, Josh Dallas, aren’t exempt from toddler-shaming when they travel with their 20-month-old, Oliver.

“People will look at us and they’ll roll their eyes when we go on an airplane,” the actress told Us Weekly on Wednesday, February 17, at the L.A. premiere of her new animated Disney film, Zootopia. “We’re like, just wait. We’ve got a pretty cool kid.”

[Goodwin] admitted she was thinking of her son while she walked the red carpet with Kristen Bell, Katie Lowes and Shakira. “He’s amazing,” she gushed. “I miss him right this second.”

Goodwin, who is having a baby boy, also said she’s been feeling tired. “Someone just told me that being pregnant is like, you put your body through what it is to run a marathon every day,” she told Us. “That made me feel a little better about being winded while chasing a 2-year-old around!”

“He does at least 50 percent of all the parenting, and I really don’t know how people do it when they don’t have a partner who’s not supportive,” she revealed. “It’s so hard. It’s beautiful. But it’s hard!”

Susan Sarandon ‘has issues’ with Woody Allen & she likes to do drugs outside

wenn21508464

Susan Sarandon has an excellent new interview in The Daily Beast this week. She tells so many interesting stories and there are so many interesting quotes, it’s sort of difficult to cull the best parts, so go here to read the full thing. Keep in mind – she’s 67 years old and she does shrooms at Burning Man and she had an affair with David Bowie once upon a time. She’s pretty badass. Some highlights:

She went to Burning Man last year but couldn’t go this year: “It’s fabulous. I can’t go this year because my daughter’s having a baby around that time, so I don’t think I’d feel very free to indulge if I was waiting for a message to see if she’s gone into labor. I went all around on a Segway and a bicycle, which was great…Despite the fact that there was more of a police presence there, it was a lot of fun and I’d definitely go back.”

Whether she takes psychedelics: “I’m not new to the idea of mushrooms. I don’t really like chemical things, really. Timothy Leary was a friend of mine, so that acid was nice and pure, but I’m not really looking for chemicals, and I don’t like to feel speedy. But I’ve done Ayahuasca and I’ve done mushrooms and things like that. But I like those drugs in the outdoors—I’m not a city-tripper. My attitude about marijuana or anything is, ‘Don’t be stoned if you have to pretend you’re not,’ so I’d never do drugs if I was taking care of my kids.”

Whether she would approve of an older man wooing a teenage daughter: “I wouldn’t want my 15-year-old daughter having sex! But for some reason, age difference is more accepted in cultures when the man is older and the woman is younger.”

On May-December romance in films, like Emma Stone & Colin Firth in Woody Allen’s new film: “You know, films are great when they reframe reality and cause conversations and dialogue. I’m much more bothered by violence in film—especially violence that’s connected in some way to be sexy. For me, that’s always been more problematic when I was guiding what my kids were looking at. And again, it has to do with the people. Emma Stone is very together, very centered. I have issues with Woody Allen… but that’s another story. But that’s always been accepted in films, that guys are with younger women.

Her Woody issues: “I think he really tore that family apart in a way that was horrible, and hasn’t really dealt with the aftermath. He’s always had a reputation for being with younger girls—I mean younger girls. And also, that young woman [Soon-Yi] was very vulnerable, and I think it was very hard for the siblings, and certainly for Mia. You just don’t go there. You don’t go there.”

High profile affairs: “I got married really young, which knocked out most of my 20s to be f–king around. There have been a couple of famous, pretty interesting ones. One rock star, and another actor. But I’m pretty much a nester and tend to be monogamous. [She’s asked about the rock star.] Bowie….Yeah. He’s worth idolizing. He’s extraordinary. That was a really interesting period… But Bowie’s just a really interesting person, and so bright. He’s a talent, and a painter, and… he’s great.

On Brad Pitt: “I love him. He’s a kind, thoughtful guy. Everyone thought, ‘Wow, he’s really cute,’ on set… I remember him being really cute, funny, and professional. When I saw an early cut and saw the scenes at the police station where he’s teasing, which he added, I thought, ‘This guy is something special.’ When he added that, I thought, ‘This guy is a character actor hidden in this gorgeous body.’”

[From The Daily Beast]

She also talks about her dog’s Twitter, her support of Bill de Blasio, community policing and how Thelma & Louise could have ended up “just a little, tiny movie that was very mumblecore.” Susan is cooler than me. I think it’s safe to say she’s cooler than most of us. She banged David Bowie, for goodness sake.

As for the Woody Allen thing… I think her words speak for themselves. I will say that her complaint about Woody doesn’t seem very current? Or maybe I just need to parse more.

Dylan Farrow’s People interview: ‘All I have is the truth & that is all I put out there’

wenn2089324

Since everything is about to get really depressing and angry, I just thought I would start off with this great link from The Onion: “New Blog Piece On Woody Allen To Settle Everything”. This, I believe, captures the essence of so many problems I’ve been having with this story. I believe Dylan Farrow. But I also think that yelling about it isn’t going to solve anything and neither is painting some people as full-on saints and villains.

In this week’s new issue of People Magazine, Dylan’s older brother Moses gave a detailed interview denying that his sister was ever molested by Woody Allen. Moses’ argument seemed weak – how is he so sure that Woody and Dylan were NEVER alone? – but Moses also claimed that Mia Farrow is manipulative and that she physically and emotionally abused her children as well. People Mag then went to Dylan for a response, and she gave a lengthy interview about Moses, Mia and the reaction to her NYT op-ed. You can read the full piece here, and here are some highlights (I took out some of the background which we all know by now):

It was a letter she wished she never had to write, about something she says she wished had never happened. Dylan Farrow says it took all the courage she had to finally pen the emotional open letter she sent to the New York Times detailing her claim that her adoptive father, Woody Allen, had sexually molested her as a child, she exclusively tells PEOPLE.

“It took all of my strength and all of my emotional fortitude to do what I did this week in the hope that it would put the truth out there,” says Dylan, 28, now a happily married writer. “That is my only ammunition. I don’t have money or publicists or limos or fancy apartments in Manhattan. All I have is the truth and that is all I put out there.”

Dylan says she knew she would be taking on one of the most powerful and esteemed forces in Hollywood. Indeed, some of Allen’s defenders claim she wrote the letter – during awards season, no less – to sabotage her father, whose film Blue Jasmine is nominated for three Oscars. Others have said she wrote it to vindicate her mother. (Mia did not see the piece before it ran, a family friend says.)

“I’ve been hearing that a lot,” says Dylan. “I’m happy to answer that. My intention in writing that piece was to put the truth on paper from a voice that was not able to speak before. People are saying that I am not actually remembering what I remember. People are saying that my ‘evil mother’ brainwashed me because they refuse to believe that my sick, evil father would ever molest me, because we live in this society where victim blaming and inexcusable behavior – this taboo against shaming the famous at the expense of their victims – is accepted and excused.”

A turning point for her came on Jan. 12, the night of the Golden Globes, when Woody Allen received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement, which his longtime friend, Diane Keaton, accepted on his behalf.

Dylan says that she had wanted to share her side of the story for a long time. But, she tells PEOPLE, “After the Golden Globes, my brother Ronan showed immense bravery for standing up for the family and I realized it was my turn to stand up and to tell the truth.”

On Jan. 12, Ronan Tweeted, “Missed the Woody Allen tribute – did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?” Dylan says she knew the letter would draw “backlash.”

“I knew there were people saying I was a liar and that this was part of some smear campaign – some bitter vendetta of my mother’s,” she says. But, she adds, “I didn’t realize that it was going to be a betrayal of this magnitude.”

That betrayal, she says, came when her brother Moses Farrow, 36, spoke out to PEOPLE this week. Dylan spoke to PEOPLE shortly after she learned what her brother had said. Clearly anguished, she sobbed as she said, “My brother has broken my heart. Moses divorced himself from the family a long time ago. I always missed him. I loved him and I kept him in my thoughts. These lies – this betrayal – is unfathomable to me coming from a brother I loved and cherished and grew up with,” she said. “I’m sorry,” she said, apologizing for crying. “I’m shaking right now.”

She paused, regained her composure and said, “He has betrayed me in the cruelest way imaginable, and betrayed my family and my mother who has loved him since day one. His betrayal is the lowest form of evil that I could ever imagine.”

None of what Moses said is true, maintains Dylan. “It’s lies. It’s all lies.” She stands by her letter, saying, “My memories are true. What happened to me as a little girl … is my cross to bear. But I will not see my family dragged down like this. I can’t stay silent when my family needs me.”

She says there was a time when she adored her father. “Part of the reason why it was so hard for me to write the piece that I wrote was because once upon a time I loved my father so much.” Dylan says that when her mother heard the contents of Moses’s letter, “She was stunned. She couldn’t believe that he betrayed her and me and the family like this. Her reaction is on par with mine.”

Amid the sadness she feels over her shattered family and childhood memories that continue to haunt her are moments of happiness and normalcy. While she spoke to PEOPLE, her husband stood in the background, comforting her. She says she and her husband met through an ad on The Onion. “And we have been in love ever since. Yesterday was the anniversary of our first date. It’s been seven years.”

“He is the most wonderful man in the world. When they say living well is the best revenge – I have that. My conscience is clean. I have told the truth. I cannot say the same for Moses.” She also has her family, who she says has always been there for her. “I love my family so much. We are a strong family. We are a loving family. We are a brave family. We are fighters. I love my mother so much.”

She hopes her open letter will help sexual abuse victims come forward and seek help.

“I am hoping to help at least one person out there. And that’s why I spoke out.”

[From People]

The Onion has personal ads?! WHAT?! Sorry, I was just trying to lighten the mood again. Anyway… I feel for Dylan. I think she is still dealing with what she went through as a child. Reportedly, Woody Allen is speaking to editors at the New York Times about publishing his own op-ed, but as yet, that has not happened. 60 Minutes has also re-posted their old 1992 interview with Woody, which you can see here.

Straight From Your Nightmares: Marilyn Manson Joins ‘Once Upon a Time’

marilyn manson paris jackson

If you’ve been watching Once Upon a Time, you’ll know that this season has seen the introduction of Peter Pan and his evil shadow. That’s where Marilyn Manson comes in – he’ll be playing the voice of Pan’s shadow later this season. Don’t you feel like you’re living in a nightmare?

From The Hollywood Reporter:

In the eighth episode, expected to air mid-November, Manson will make his Once Upon a Time debut voicing the character of The Shadow, who has already been seen this season. (The Shadow first appeared at the end of season two.)

“We’ve always been enormous fans of Marilyn Manson,” creators/executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz told Rolling Stone, who first broke the news, in a joint statement. “We wanted to cast someone with the vocal ability to make our skin crawl.”

Ha! Marilyn Manson doesn’t really make my skin crawl anymore, but he certainly used to when I was 12 and I’d fall asleep with MTV on and wake up at like, midnight when Beavis and Butthead was on and they’d be playing one of his videos. The video for ‘The Beautiful People’ was CRAZY and used to terrify me. But come on, this is Marilyn Manson now. Nobody’s running from that.

‘Once Upon a Time’s Snow White and Prince Charming Are Getting Married!

ginnifer goodwin josh dallas

Do you guys watch Once Upon a Time? That’s one of the shows I actually DO keep up with. It’s hilariously bad writing and acting all around, but it’s so good! The ideas and storylines are clever and it makes for compulsive viewing, even if it is a little laughable at times (same goes for Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, which just started – I’ll be watching that until it’s inevitably canceled, as well).

In any case, I had no idea that Snow White and Prince Charming were actually dating in real life! Did you? That’s right, Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas are actually an item… and now they’re engaged!

From People:

Dallas popped the question in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

“We are so thrilled to announce our engagement and can’t wait to celebrate with our friends and family, including our second family at Once Upon a Time,” the couple said in a statement to PEOPLE.

The two met on the set of the series and took their relationship public in April 2012.

“It hit me like a blinding light,” Dallas said of falling for his castmate. “I thought, ‘I’m in trouble now.’ ”

No word yet on a wedding date.

Well, that’s sweet. Fairy tales can come true… or something, right? Admittedly, the softy part of me (which, I assure you, is very tiny and generally well-concealed) thinks it’s really cute that they’ve actually fallen in love. I don’t usually care about things like that, but they’re Prince Charming and Snow White! Aw! At least Ginnifer has something to smile about now.
