Rihanna Is a Muslim Now, Right?

Rihanna is still in the midst of her Diamonds world tour, and her latest jaunt has taken her to Abu Dhabi. In case you don’t know much about Abu Dhabi, it’s the capital and second largest city in the United Arab Emirates and has a very largely Muslim population (and a lot of non-Muslim expats). Rihanna, completely oblivious to the concept of cultural appropriation (see: here), decided it’d be a great idea to take off her thong and nipple covers and put on a hijab to have a fashion shoot at the Shaikh Zayed Mosque this weekend, which…. WHY? Yes, it’s required for female visitors to the Mosque – which offers daily tours to visitors – to cover their heads. It’s respectful to locals to abide by their customs, but to stage a fashion shoot like you’re the new face of Islamic culture? SMH SMH SMH.

It’s not at all surprising that Rihanna sees no problem in turning something with such cultural and religious significance to those who ACTUALLY OBSERVE IT into a lighthearted ~fashion~ thing (she literally captioned one of her photos with “Fashion killaz in Abu Dhabi”), but it’s mindblowing that no one in her entourage thought, you know, maybe this isn’t so respectful? Perhaps the cloud of weed smoke also clouded their judgment.

Y’all know I love me some RiRi, but I cannot abide this fuckery.

Chris Brown’s Bodyguard Is Suing Drake

Yo, if you’re going to sue someone for some bodily harm, wouldn’t you do that shit immediately after it happened? Well, you’re clearly not Chris Brown‘s bodyguard Patrick Strickland, who just now filed a lawsuit against Drake and the W.i.P nightclub in New York over the brawl between Drake and Brown that happened last June.

I’m sure you remember the (boring) details: Drake apparently taunted poor Chris over the fact that he, too, f-cked Rihanna and she really liked it. This made Chris mad, Cristal bottles were thrown, lips were busted, blah blah blah. (Side note: Drake is wayyyy too thirsty, but that’s a whole other issue.) In any case, Strickland apparently got his head busted in the midst of all this and now he wants Drake and the club to pay up.

From The New York Post:

Hired muscle Patrick Strickland snidely refers to Drake as “a popular and successful, albeit critically derided, entertainer,” in his lawsuit filed Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Strickland, 43, who hails from Queens Village, claims the hot spot, W.i.P., is responsible for the ugly head cut he suffered during the melee because it sat Brown’s entourage and Drake’s crew near each other, even though staffers knew the celebrities were beefing over sultry R&B songstress Rihanna.

The seating arrangement created “a substantial and unjustifiable risk that a mass altercation would occur between the two camps,” the suit for an unspecified amount of damages states.

Moreover, the club over-served Drake and his posse, and had an employee hand Brown a note from Drake that read: “I’m f–king the love of your life,” according to the Strickland suit.

The note allegedly led to a “verbal altercation” and that caused a “massive bar brawl that involved bottle throwing, possible gunshots and a general state of riot and disorder,” the suit charges.

Strickland was hit in the head and required stitches, reports said at the time. The suit says he endured “severe and disfiguring injuries to his face, head and eyes.”

Okay, how are you gonna blame a club for where you’re sitting? Last time I checked, club tables don’t come with chains and handcuffs – so get your ass up from the chair and move somewhere else, for God’s sake. And don’t get started on the whole cultural aspect of it and the fact that Brown’s camp wouldn’t have wanted to move and seem “weak” (remember, this is Drake on the other end, anyway). If that’s how they felt, then that’s fine and well, but you don’t then go boo hoo-ing your way into court when that decision backfires on your ass. Though I’m not sure what’s worse, a lawsuit or a song calling your enemy gay.

Rihanna’s Twitter Is Incomprehensible; Also Posts Photo Laughing With Chris Brown

Rihanna‘s tweets make no sense to me. I don’t understand what she’s tweeting. Like what does any of this mean?:

But the worst is that yesterday she tweeted with a link to a photo of her and Chris Brown smiling and having a grand ole time. Here’s the tweet:

They allegedly just broke up, but whatever, friends totally cuddle in cars and take photos of themselves that they know are going to give them a lot of publicity.

So, whatever. Whatever Rihanna. Also it says a lot when Amanda Bynes’ tweets make more sense than yours. At least she’s direct.

Rosario Dawson to the Rescue: ‘Rihanna Doesn’t Need To Be a Role Model’

Rosario Dawson seems pretty chill. She’s had a steady stream of acting roles over the years and while she’s nothing special, she comes off as down-to-earth… and yeah, she’s pretty smokin’, as well. Since she’s doing the rounds to promote her new flick, Trance, she’s also giving interviews and sounding off on your standard fare – acting, the film’s plot and… Rihanna?

Talking to Bang Showbiz (via DigitalSpy), Dawson stuck up for the notoriously frowned upon ‘Rude Boy’ singer, saying pretty much what Rihanna herself as said (but a tad more eloquently): it’s not her responsibility to be a good role model if she doesn’t want to be.

“I don’t think individual women do have a responsibility [to set an example for others],” Dawson explained, reports Bang Showbiz.

She went on to explain: “Often they are working within a certain dynamic. Take Rihanna. To put all that responsibility on one woman is outrageous.

“I don’t think we should engage with that ‘should and shouldn’t do’, ‘should and shouldn’t wear’ and ‘should and shouldn’t look like’. We don’t do that with men.”

Here’s the thing: while I agree that a celebrity’s job is not to lead by example for whatever fans may or may not be looking up to/emulating them, I do generally do think one should use power in whatever sense for good. Then again, people should be smart enough not to do stupid things just because the stars might and if they’re kids, it’s up to the parents to enforce a particular lifestyle and restrict access to inappropriate shit, etc.

Rihanna Doctor Says She’ll Probably Die If She Doesn’t Get Her Shit Together

Rihanna seems hell bent on doing stupid shit every day, killing all her remaining brain cells with copious amounts of weed, drinking heavily, never sleeping, staying in f-cked up relationships… the list goes on and on. After being stuck with laryngitis earlier this month and forced to cancel two dates on her Diamonds world tour, it seems RiRi’s doctor has given her a pretty serious wake-up call, revealing that if Chris Brown doesn’t kill her, her hard partying lifestyle probably will.

Medical experts have now reportedly warned the songstress to slow down her hectic schedule.

“Rihanna’s illness was so severe that doctors warned it could take months for her to fully recover – there were worries that she’d have to cancel her entire tour,” a source told Heat. “They’ve told her that she needs to make some serious lifestyle changes, or risk this happening again.

“This has given her a scare. But Rihanna knows it’s partly self-inflicted. She loves to smoke, drink and stay up late. Her body was bound to need a break at some point. She’s now on a mission to start looking after herself.”

Yeah, oooookay. The day Rihanna starts “looking after herself” is the day her career is over, since she’s built so much of it on this highly sexualised, pseudo-gangster nonsense that means nothing but ultimately sells records, apparently. I say that as a Rihanna fan, as well – I eat that bullshit up with a spoon. Doesn’t mean I don’t realise how silly – and ultimately harmful – it all is.

Vin Diesel Is A Pretty Big Rihanna Fan, Apparently

Valentine’s Day is a pretty romantic holiday, and no man knows romance like Vin Diesel (or something). So how does he celebrate? He covers Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ and puts it on YouTube, apparently. The clip went viral last week, leading people to wonder… well, simply, why? Here’s why: It was a gift for his girlfriend Paloma Jimenez in lieu of a traditional Valentine’s Day card. That and he really likes Rihanna.

With the help of his daughter, Diesel obtained a mic and an amp while Jimenez was on a flight and “the rest is history,” he tells PEOPLE.

And the response his romantic video has been getting has been even better.

“People say ‘I didn’t know you were a Rihanna fan?’ ” he says. “How could you not be a fan of her voice, her gift.”

But while the actor says he’s been putting out fun singing videos “for years” – and sang in Strays and The Pacifier – he adds that “no one ever took it this [seriously].”

Bless his heart. I’m a Rihanna fan – not that I’d ever talk about her “gift”, per se, but whatever. After this, I’m definitely a Vin fan, as well.

In what has to be the most ridiculous story of the day – nay, the entire week – it seems that Justin Bieber was unfaithful to on-again/off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez… with Rihanna. Bahahaha! I’ll let you get it all out of your system before proceed. Go on, take your time, catch your breath. Okay?

Life & Style can exclusively reveal the reason Selena Gomez broke up with Justin Bieber after two years of dating: Selena found out that Justin had cheated on her in the early stages of their relationship — with Rihanna.

“It has devastated her,” a friend of Selena and Justin’s reveals in the new issue of Life & Style. “It really cut like a knife because it happened in February of 2011, when Selena and Justin had been dating for months and were falling in love. It’s caused Selena to question their entire relationship.”

After flirting at a basketball game in LA on Feb. 20, 2011, the friend tells Life & Style that he and Rihanna hooked up.

Though Justin and Selena, who have been dating since late 2010, have been off and on in recent months as work kept them apart, this devastating piece of information caused her to break things off for good, says the friend. Now, “Selena thinks maybe they’ve been hooking up all along,” their friend tells the mag.

Okay, I don’t even know where to start with this one. First of all, I know Rihanna is sexually liberated and gets her swerve on at all times (get yours, girl – no shame!), but Justin Bieber? In 2011, he would have been just about 17. His voice was barely mature, so I doubt much else was. He was just some wannabe Usher with mediocre singing and barely passable dancing – hardly her cup of tea, if I had to guess (regardless of how “awesome” Mike Tyson thinks he is). Second of all… just, no. I don’t even have a second of all, it’s just that stupid.

I will say, however, that I’m sure Justin has cheated on Selena with quite a few girls, most likely 13-year-old groupies who stalk him at his concerts. He’s just the worst – dunno what anyone sees in this little asshole.
