Lamar Odom: Intervention Staged By Family! NBA Star Peaces Out in a Hurry!

Desperate to help any way that they can, Lamar Odom’s family staged an intervention in New York City Friday night, according to reports.

Suffice it to say, this did not go over well.

Lamar Odom in a Daze

In response to the former NBA star’s recent troubling behavior, his family decided to step in and try to get him the help he badly needs.

A source quoted by Us Weekly confirms that the mediation took place on Friday night with several of Odom’s close family members.

Lamar’s longtime partner Liza Morales, the two children she has with Lamar, his aunt JaNean Mercer, and several cousins were involved.

Good for them for stepping up, but … it didn’t take.

“Lamar was doing really bad and his family was going to stage an intervention on Friday,” the insider tells the celebrity news magazine.

According to a separate report from Extra, the retired L.A. Lakers baller “was extremely surprised” by this and quickly “left the location.”

Duchess Kate is spending more of Charles’ money on high-end clothes this year

FFN_CHP_WILLIAM_P_712016_52109362

2016 has brought us a “new and improved” Duchess of Cambridge, or so her PR would have us believe. Five years into her role as duchess, Kate is supposed to be feeling more comfortable in her royal role. We’re also supposed to believe that she’s successfully transitioned from her mass-market High Street looks to more expensive and sophisticated designer clothes. Personally, I don’t see much of a difference in her style in the past few years other than the price tags. Which I suspect is the point of this piece at the Daily Mail. While Prince Harry is shopping the bargain bins at Waitrose, Kate is spending her father-in-law’s money on undercooked cinnamon bun hats and doily dresses.

She was once hailed ‘Queen of the High Street’ for championing mid-range clothes within reach of the average woman’s budget. But the Duchess of Cambridge has been re-crowned the ‘Designer Duchess’ after replacing her trusted Zara dresses and Topshop bargains with haute couture. Once a reluctant style icon, Kate –who famously wore a £50 blue Zara dress the day after her wedding – is now almost exclusively choosing high-end gowns, coats and shoes.

And the 34-year-old’s new tastes do not come cheap. Much of her working wardrobe is paid for by the Prince of Wales, who funds William, Kate and Harry’s official activities. Royal accounts published last week show Charles’s ‘other expenditure’, which includes money spent on Kate and his sons, rose 9.5 per cent in a year to £3.2 million – although aides refused to specify how much of that went on Kate’s wardrobe.

The transition has come with the help of an in-house tailor and her personal dresser, 29-year-old Natasha Archer, also based in Kensington Palace. The most expensive item Kate has been seen in this year was a £7,000 pale blue Catherine Walker coat dress, which she wore to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral last month. While her clothes are now of a better quality, she is increasingly ‘recycling’ outfits she has worn before, including a £2,000 cream-coloured Alexander McQueen coat dress seen at Trooping the Colour in June. And she has finally ditched her trusty £145 LK Bennett court shoes in favour of pumps by Milan-based Gianvito Rossi, costing about £450.

‘Kate is wearing pricier pieces for semi-formal engagements,’ says Susan Kelley, editor of the website What Kate Wore. ‘We’ve seen her in three Dolce & Gabbana lace dresses in the past year which cost more than £6,000 in total. Now, almost all of her special occasion dresses are upscale, luxury labels.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I understand that her wardrobe is supposed to be seen as a “years-long transition,” rather than an overnight change from middle-class girlfriend to high-end duchess. But what strikes me about Kate’s wardrobe is that you really can’t tell which pieces are high-end and which pieces are mass market, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Some women – the Diane Krugers and Cate Blanchetts of the world – can make inexpensive clothes look rich. Some women – like Kate – make high-end pieces look mass-market. One of the biggest issues with Kate’s clothes is how much she’s spending on personalized tailoring, most of which is unneeded. Or worse yet, the tailoring actually screws up the look. And you have to look no further than her absolutely awful bespoke piece at the Battle of Somme centenary event last Friday to see that this is Kate’s (expensive) vision for how she’s supposed to look. All with Charles’ money!

Duchess Kate blogs from Kensington Palace about children’s mental health

kate1

Today is the day. Right at this very moment, our Duchess Kate has turned into a blogger and blog editor. Like many professional bloggers, she’s working from home. Unlike most professional bloggers, Kate’s home is a palace. Kate invited editors and writers from the Huffington Post UK to Kensington Palace today so they could work together to “guest edit” a day of HuffPo UK devoted to children’s mental health. If you follow @KensingtonRoyal, you’ll see that the younger royal’s Twitter feed has been taken over with at least two dozen tweets about Kate’s work. That Twitter feed also posted some photos of Kate in this Reiss blouse at the palace, hard at work. If only we could ALL look this glamorous whilst blogging. Oh, and to start her day, Kate posted this essay about the importance of mental health. Do you think she wrote this herself? Not to be a hater… but I do not believe she wrote this.

It is such a privilege to have this opportunity to be Guest Editor of the Huffington Post today, and to celebrate the amazing work being done to improve and understand the mental health of young children. Young Minds Matter, being launched today, is a new series where issues and work around the mental health of young children will be explored.

Shortly after I got married, I started working with charities helping those affected by issues such as addiction, family breakdown and vulnerable children. As was to be expected, I often heard some heart-breaking stories about lives that had been torn apart, with devastating impacts for all involved, particularly children.

kate2

What I did not expect was to see that time and time again, the issues that led people to addiction and destructive decision making seemed to almost always stem from unresolved childhood challenges. It became clear to me that many children – even those younger than five – have to deal with complex problems without the emotional resilience, language or confidence to ask for help. And it was also clear that with mental health problems still being such a taboo, many adults are often too afraid to ask for help for the children in their care.

It is time for this to change.

The mental health of our children must be seen as every bit as important as their physical health. For too long we have been embarrassed to admit when our children need emotional or psychiatric help, worried that the stigma associated with these problems would be detrimental to their futures. Research published today by the Huffington Post indicates that around a third of parents still worry that they will look like a bad mother or father if their child has a mental health problem. Parenting is hard enough without letting prejudices stop us from asking for the help we need for ourselves and our children.

Like most parents today, William and I would not hesitate to seek help for our children if they needed it. We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older. We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness. Of course, for some parents and carers seeking help is not so easy. When families are short of time or money it is not always easy to know where to look for help or advice. That is why we need schools and communities to play their full role to help children who are struggling in ways that are not always easy to see.

In the series of articles we have commissioned, you will be introduced to some extraordinary people and organisations. You will hear from a recently bereaved wife, confronting the reality that the depression that led to her husband’s suicide was with him as a 10-year old boy. You will hear from people who have fought back from their own serious illness to lead a change in the way we speak to children about their feelings and challenges. You will meet some of the extraordinary researchers who are asking important questions about the mental health of young people, and are getting answers that will be of real benefit to all parents and teachers.

I am so grateful to all those who have participated in this series and to all those who will contribute after today. I am also hugely grateful to all of you who will take the time to read, to watch, and to listen to these stories. Together, we have the chance to make a real difference for an entire generation of young children.

Fuller House Teaser: Go Behind the Scenes!

As previously detailed, the cast of Full House has come a long way.

You can click on the link above to see what we mean, but you can also take a look at the video below.

Netflix has released a new trailer for Fuller House, though this one is unlike past Fuller House previews.

Instead of showing fans upcoming footage from the wildly anticipated Full House spinoff, it takes us behind the scenes with various cast members with whom we’ve literally grown up.

“Fuller House carries the same emotional, loving, family tone through the show that the original did,” Candace Cameron Bure (DJ Tanner-Fuller) says in the featurette. “It’s crazy to be back here again!”

The Netflix series will drop on February 26 and will center on a newly-widowed DJ Tanner.

She’s the single mother of three boys and she relies on the help of her sister, Stephanie and her fellow single mom/best friend, Kimmy Gibbler, for parental guidance and support.

All three women live in the Tanners’ childhood home in San Francisco.

“We are a family and have been since we started doing the show 28 years ago,” says Jodie Sweetin. “[The plot] is sort of the reverse: It’s now three women raising these three boys.”

Look for appearances by familiar/beloved faces such as John Stamos and Bob Saget and, yes, prepare to have mercy.

Brad Pitt’s ‘youthful’ new look is the result of diet, skin treatments & IV drips

Brad Pitt has been looking oddly “youthful” for a few months now. I noticed it first at the premiere of The Big Short in November, but a lot of people commented on his “freshened” look at the Golden Globes. I think it’s probably a combination of factors, some of which are rather harmless. Like, Brad had facial hair on and off for years, but these days he’s rocking a clean-shaven look, so he automatically looks different. He’s also got a haircut (that looks like a ‘90s wiglet), which changes his appearance. But there is something else going on. Aggressive facial peels? Botox? A facelift? Life & Style says no – their sources claim Brad’s new look is the result of a new diet, skin care treatments and IV vitamin drips.

Brad Pitt is turning back the clock! An insider close to Brad reveals in the new issue of Life & Style Weekly that for the past several months, Brad has been on an intense antiaging regimen that includes a new diet, expensive skin care treatments and even IV vitamin drips!

“He’s been telling friends about his new antiaging plan,” an insider tells Life & Style. “He’s been doing it with the help of a nutritionist and a personal chef.”

The insider reveals the details of his new diet to Life & Style, on newsstands now. It’s heavy on salmon, walnuts and chia seeds, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids to combat wrinkles, plus lean meats and eggs, which provide amino acids to help repair damaged skin cells, according to the insider. Other staples in Brad’s strict regimen are brown rice and beets, since they are high in phytoceramides, which many people take as supplements to keep skin hydrated and plump.

“What you put in your mouth shows on your skin,” says Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Ava Shamban, who does not treat the father of five. “His diet will help Brad’s skin repair itself.”

The insider tells Life & Style that he’s also been supplementing the diet with “collagen smoothies and antiaging IV vitamin drips,” as well as going to get regular facials.

“Brad’s working hard to keep his youthful looks,” the insider says. “The transformation has been nothing short of amazing.”

Here’s the thing: I believe Brad Pitt is vain, but do I believe he’s THIS vain? I don’t. I think he would go in for some facial peels and some Botox. I don’t believe he would completely change his diet and get IV drips full of anti-aging vitamins. I just don’t believe he cares THAT much. But he does care, and we can see it all over his (new) face.

Kelly Rutherford’s ex’s lawyer: he will continue to promote Kelly’s time with kids

Kelly Rutherford arrives to a Manhattan court in New York without her children
These are photos of Kelly Rutherford outside court in New York City yesterday, where she was ordered to surrender her two children to be flown to Monaco with their grandmother, who was waiting for them in court. This was a predictable outcome to a ridiculous situation she created, which caused needless stress and drama in her children’s lives. Kelly will likely do another interview soon where she cries and moans to the media about ‘Murica and how her children were deported. (I’m not going to treat whatever she says as breaking news, just FYI.) Meanwhile her ex, Daniel Giersch, has been nothing but a class act throughout this entire custody battle, despite how frustrating it must be to deal with this woman. (Thanks to Becks for commenting with this interview that Giersch did last year about an app he developed with the help of his kids. I’ve read it before but I wouldn’t have remembered it. He comes across very well.)

It’s worth noting that we only have the details from the first few minutes inside the courtroom because Giersch’s lawyers requested that the media not be present, in order to protect his children’s privacy. We could have heard the judge absolutely owning Kelly, but she surely wanted the press there anyway because narcissists want attention, good or bad. Instead we only know that she was told by the judge not to directly address her, and that the judge was angry that Kelly didn’t bring the children with her as ordered. Kelly’s lawyer claimed that this was to avoid the “media circus,” but really it was just another tactic by Kelly in this game she’s playing. At least it ended well, no one was hurt physically, and the children got to go home with their oma as they should have done several days ago.

In statements to the press following the ruling, Giersch’s lawyers said that the children’s transition went well and that they seemed fine. He also said that Giersch has not changed his stance on Kelly spending time with the children. Think about that for a moment. Kelly just kidnapped her own kids and has done interview after interview smearing her ex. She’s repeatedly tried to cut her children’s father out of their lives and she talks as if their life in Monaco doesn’t count, but he’s still saying that he’s going to let her see the kids. Here are some statements from various lawyers. Pay attention to the mild shade thrown by one of Kelly’s former lawyers.

How the children seemed in the courtroom
“Kelly’s failure to deliver the children on Thursday likely bought them a one-way ticket to Monaco,” Michael Stutman, head of the family group at Mishcon de Reya New York and a lawyer not involved in the case, tells PEOPLE. “Given Kelly’s initial failure to send the children back, showing up without them was probably the nail in her coffin.”

The children were later brought to the courthouse through a side entrance to say goodbye to their mom and head to the airport with Giersch’s mother.

“The kids didn’t seem to look like they missed a beat. They were happy, they kissed their mother goodbye, they were happy to see their grandmother, they had smiles on their face. And by the way, they’re two beautiful little kids,” Giersch’s attorney Ira Garr told reporters. “The only complaint they had is they really wanted to get back to playing; it was boring in the courtroom.”

“They just hugged and said goodbye, and she said she’d see them soon, and they were very, very easily transitioned to their grandmother, who they know very well,” said Robert Michaels, another lawyer on Giersch’s team.

“It was done very civilly,” Garr added. “Ms. Rutherford said, ‘Oh, you’re going to see Papa, and you’re going to go with Oma.’ And the kids seemed fine…”

There will probably be safeguards in place so Kelly doesn’t pull this again
“After this episode, we will be speaking with our client and his attorney in Monaco and maybe considering taking different measures about future visits to the United States, how the passports are held or whether the visits need to be supervised, because we don’t want a reoccurrence of this a year from now,” Garr said.

Kelly’s former lawyer shades her
“It’s really unfortunate that it came to this, and that Hermes and Helena were forced to say goodbye to their mother in a courthouse, rather than having a natural transition,” Robert Wallack, a lawyer who represented Rutherford in federal court last year, tells PEOPLE. “However, today’s proceedings played out exactly as expected, and it now appears the next chapter of this story will be written in Monaco.”

Daniel’s lawyer says he’ll continue to let Kelly see the kids
“We are pleased that the American judicial system has prevailed,” Giersch’s attorney Fahi Takesh Hallin told ABC News in a statement. “Daniel’s request to exclude the press today from the courtroom was granted, to protect the children’s privacy. In addition, his stance of promoting Kelly’s time with the children has not changed.”

[From People and ABC News]

As of now, Rutherford hasn’t issued a statement but she did speak briefly with the paparazzi outside the courtroom. TMZ has video of her leaving court. She was wearing sunglasses and looked like she might have been crying but she was smiling at the paparazzi and seemed to relish the attention. She said “I have no words at this moment” but when asked how she felt, she said “like any parent that lost their kids.

The next hearing for this case is scheduled for September 3rd in Monaco. Daniel is likely to get sole custody and Kelly will be lucky to have supervised visits, I think.

Dan Abrams, ABC chief legal correspondent and Kelly’s close friend, has responded to this latest development with a mini rant about how it doesn’t make sense. You can read that on People.

Did Zayn Malik leave the 1D tour because of ‘stress’ or a cheating scandal?

Zayn Malik

Boy band drama! Fair warning — I’m well over the age of 25, talking about One Direction, and clearly out of my element. Looking at the above photo, I can readily pick out Harry Styles on the left (the one with pretty hair). The dude on the right is Niall Horan (the one with a reputation for stealing people’s girlfriends). This story is about the guy in the middle, Zayn Malik, who just left the band’s world tour to return home. The official word from 1D’s PR rep is that “Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate.” He may return to the tour after a few shows, or he may have quit the band.

Zayn’s departure might be an after effect of a cheating scandal. Zayn, 22, is currently engaged to Perrie Edwards of the girl band Little Mix. For Perrie’s 21st birthday last year, Zayn pulled the Bieber-esque move of renting out an entire funfair as a romantic gesture. But of course … he’s a boy band member, so there are complications and groupie rumors. Zayn snapped back on Twitter “I’m 22 years old … I love a girl named Perrie Edwards. And there’s a lot of jealous f***s in this world I’m sorry for what it looks like x.”

The Mail has photos of Zayn returning home (where he shares a house with Perrie). Shortly after, Perrie was spotted leaving the premises with a packed bag. People published some statements from the 1D guys, who are worried about Zayn:

After taking a break from One Direction’s On the Road Again world tour due to stress, Zayn Malik is back in the United Kingdom to spend time with his family.

Set to perform in the Philippines this weekend without him, “the rest of the guys are really worried about him but disappointed he’s not there,” a source close to the band tells PEOPLE. “Their main concern is they want him to get better.”

Adds our source: “They don’t want him to quit. Louis [Tomlinson] is the closest to him and is the most worried.”

Though Malik, 22, is the one who “struggles dealing with being in the spotlight the most,” as a source previously revealed to PEOPLE, he reached his limit on Wednesday, when photos of him looking close to a female fan hit the Internet.

[From People]

Is this a simple case of stress brought on by Zayn’s personal life … or something else? I understand there are also drug rumors. During the band’s recent Phillipines tour stop, Zayn and Louis Tomlinson were required to post bonds promising they wouldn’t use or promote illegal drugs. The two joked about their hand-rolled ciggies (ahem) in the 1D documentary, so who knows. Hopefully, Zayn will get the help he needs to deal with this upheaval.
