Drew Barrymore’s 20 Pound Weight Loss

20-pound-weight-loss - Drew Barrymore's 20 Pound Weight Loss

Mom-of-two Drew Barrymore recently opened up in an interview about her 20 pound weight loss. The bubbly 41 year-old actress, who is 5’4”/ 163 cm says that she currently weighs 124 lbs:

On how she achieved the weight 20 pound weight loss:

I’ve been very disciplined and all I did was cry and dream about pizza. I still am dreaming and crying about pizza.

On her weight:

I was 144 and now I’m 124. I did it on the filming of a Netflix show [Santa Clarita Diet]. I feel really great. I followed Kimberly Snyder’s methods, but I added some protein like fish and chicken since she’s all vegetarian or vegan.

On her future plans:

The holidays are coming up, so I’m going to enjoy some of that stuffing!

Demi Lovato to a Fan: “Is that how my boobs should look?”

ffn_vcv_52108525

The full story from Huffington Post:

[A fan] drawing of Lovato topless with a mermaid tail caught the singer’s attention, and not in the good way.

Is that how my boobs should look?” she commented on a fan’s Instagram that reposted the photo this week. “It’s gorgeous but that’s not my body.”

The drawing is inspired by a sultry promotional shot from her new single “Body Say,” which shows Lovato nude, but sans mermaid tail, in the same position. Unlike the fan artwork, however, bed sheets largely cover her bust and waist.

Vladimir Serbanescu, the Romanian artist responsible for the image, quickly defended his artwork on Instagram and responded to Lovato’s accusation that he misrepresented her body.

“If i make your waist slimmer and your boobs bigger to accentuate the fact that i drew you as a mermaid, a mythological creature, doesn’t mean I say that you should look like that or all girls should look like that,” he wrote. “That’s how i imagine mermaids. I worked a lot on that drawing and i was proud of it, but not anymore.”

On the worst part of working out:

“I don’t like the smell of scalp sweat. Ugh!”

On skipping workouts:

“If I work out four times, I consider it a successful week. But it’s typically more like two to three days a week because that’s what I have time for. I take Spin or hot yoga classes in the morning, and I sacrifice sleep to fit them in. For me, the benefits of exercise are more mental than physical. Working out takes away that little edge so that I feel happier and more productive and my brain can get kick-started.”

On the right food:

“With exercise, I get a little more toned and I definitely feel stronger, but my diet is much more important if I’m trying to slim down. In that case, I usually don’t eat gluten, dairy, fried foods or processed foods. I try to stick to a diet that’s low in sugar and carbs and high in lean protein and vegetables.”

On her indulgences:

“I’m not big on carbs, but…some of my Honest colleagues and I just ate like a gallon of popcorn! Also, while I don’t usually have dessert, I do really like strawberry shortcake. I mean I really, really like it.”

… says Jessica.

Melania Trump on The Donald: ‘He’s not Hitler. He wants to help America’

melania dujour

Melania Trump covers the latest issue of DuJour Magazine, and this might be the best interview Melania has done thus far. And I’m saying that as someone who enjoyed Melania’s crazy GQ interview last month. This DuJour piece is even better! Melania comes across as unapologetically elitist, hilariously vapid and politically tone-deaf. Basically, it sounds like she and Donald Trump are perfect for each other. You can read the full piece here (it is long, but totally worth it), and here are some highlights:

She doesn’t drink Starbucks: “I don’t drink Starbucks,” she says. You don’t drink coffee? I ask. “I drink coffee, but I don’t drink Starbucks. My son likes it, the what do you call it? The Frappuccino? He likes that.”

The Clintons’ wedding gift to the Trumps? “I don’t think they sent a gift. Some people didn’t send gifts.”

How she’s been misrepresented in the media: “That I’m shy. I’m not shy. I know what I want, and I’m selective.”

On Chris Matthews’ leering comment about her model-strut: “Unbelievable. That’s what I’m saying! I’m not only a beauty, I’m smart. I have brains. I’m intelligent… I would just say, Men will be men.”

Where she shopped for furniture when she first moved to NYC: “I went to Crate & Barrel. Does that still exist or no?”

She moved in with Trump before they were married: “When I moved here with my husband, we weren’t married yet—so I kept my apartment.”

Meeting Michael Jackson: “I met Michael Jackson. It was here in New York in the Pierre Hotel. He called us, so we went over and we had dinner. Just after dinner, we were chatting on the sofa and my husband went into another room to see some art somebody wanted to show him. And Michael said to me, ‘Hey, when Trump comes back, let’s start kissing so he will be jealous!’ ” They didn’t kiss, she says, “No, no, no. But we were laughing so hard.”

She’s not a famewhore: “I have a life. I go out every day. I bring my son to school. I pick him up. I’m not an attention seeker. I’m not the one who calls paparazzi, ‘I have lunch with the girlfriends, and I’m going to this restaurant.’ I get along [with] the moms at the school pick-up, it’s ‘Hello, how are you?’ But it’s not friends friends. I like quality over quantity.”

Her 10-year-old son doesn’t sleep on the same floor as his parents: “The third floor is Barron’s. It’s much easier that way. For him as well. He has friends over, he has his toys. He has a play date tomorrow and is bringing two friends over. They come here, they go upstairs and they play. They kick a ball, they play with iPads. I don’t allow Xbox before homework is done.”

What happens for immigrants, like Melania, who want to come to the US legally: “The law needs to be changed to help those kind of people. But they can’t just sneak in and be here. That’s what I’m saying. I do have sympathy. I’m a very compassionate person. But don’t sneak in and stay here without papers. We need to follow the law. If the law needs to be different, we need to do that.”

On Louis CK calling Trump “Hitler”: “We know the truth. He’s not Hitler. He wants to help America. He wants to unite people. They think he doesn’t but he does. Even with the Muslims, it’s temporary… Maybe he needs to say it in a softer way. He doesn’t go after religions. He feels like we need to know who’s coming to this country. If not, we don’t have a country. That’s how he feels. We see how he is, and he wants to unite the country and bring people together and bring jobs back.”

On campaigning in Iowa: “It was kind of a fun experience. We stayed in a hotel. It was clean. It was, I think, a Holiday Inn. You do it in a fun way. My husband knows me and how I am. I like beautiful stuff. I live the life. It’s funny when we go and travel. They don’t have five-star hotels there, but you go with it. It was a great experience in Iowa, because we went to an Evangelical church on Sunday. The church we got married in is very different. In Iowa there was a band, there was singing. It was very different, but it was a great experience. Being on the campaign trail and traveling around the country is hard work.”

[From DuJour]

Aren’t these quotes amazing? The Crate & Barrel thing, the way she obviously charmed by the peasants in Iowa, the way she has to mention that it’s hard work on the campaign trail because there aren’t many five-star hotels. What else is there? Her obliviousness to the privilege she had as a white, European model immigrating to the US versus those other people. The fact that she keeps insisting that she’s all about being a stay-at-home mother while her 10-year-old son has an entire floor in Trump Tower! There’s also a lengthy section where Melania tries to convince DuJour that Donald Trump values her ideas and that she’s one of the few people who can really advise him. If you believe that… well, God bless. Update: I misidentified Barron as 7-years-old originally, but he’s 10.

Susan Sarandon & Debra Messing are Twitter-beefing about Bernie Sanders

wenn22750546

Susan Sarandon and Debra Messing are in a Twitter war. Those are words I never thought I would write. The whole thing started when Sarandon did an interview on Chris Hayes’ MSNBC show, All In. Here’s the exchange that got the controversy-ball rolling:

SARANDON: I think Bernie would probably encourage people to [support Hillary if he loses] because he doesn’t have any ego in this thing. But I think a lot of people are, ‘sorry, I just can’t bring myself to [vote for Hillary].’

HAYES: How about you personally?

SARANDON: I don’t know. I’m going to see what happens.

HAYES: Really?

SARANDON: Really. It’s dangerous to think we can continue the way we are with the militarized police force, with the death penalty and the low minimum wage and threats to women’s rights and think you can’t do something huge to turn that around. The country is not in good shape if you’re in the middle class. It’s disappearing.

[From Salon]

A lot of people took Sarandon’s words in the proper context and assumed that she was coming close to advocating for Democrats, liberals and progressives to stay home if Hillary Clinton gets the nomination. Sarandon was widely criticized for her “blind privilege” and more. She was even criticized by Hollywood actresses like Jamie Lee Curtis and Debra Messing.

After that, there was a flurry of tweets, retweets, replies, etc. For those you not following it, you can see Susan’s Twitter feed here and Debra’s feed here. Be careful of Debra’s Twitter, she’s talking to everybody and there are literally hundreds of tweets and re-tweets from the past few days. The basic gist seems to be that Susan left the door open for either voting for Trump (because he would start a revolution?) or staying home if Hillary Clinton got the nomination. Debra was being sort of pedantic about what Susan actually said and did not say during the interview, but the fact of the matter is that Susan is not advocating voting for anyone other than Bernie Sanders, even if Clinton gets the nomination. And considering the very real possibility of Donald Trump or Ted Cruz getting the GOP nomination, I do think that’s a privileged stance to take.

Ken Wharfe: Prince William has ‘become arrogant, spoilt & very difficult’

There’s a strange feeling around the British monarchy these days. The feeling comes and goes, but it might have something to do with the Queen celebrating the longest reign in history, and people are feeling reflective and they’re looking towards the future of the archaic institution. The feeling is difficult to describe, but it’s like a mix of boredom, anxiety and schadenfreude. Like, people are sort of rooting for some royal figures to get their comeuppance. The above photo is of Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana’s former bodyguard. Wharfe has written books about Diana, and he’s chimed in on the royal family from time to time. He notably said some words about William playing at being normal with his air-ambulance job last year. And now Wharfe is saying more words about the monarchy in general and William specifically.

Jeremy Corbyn has an unlikely ally in the form of Ken Wharfe. The man who served as a royal protection officer for 16 years, most notably for the Princess of Wales, declares he is now so disappointed with the Royal Family he has turned from monarchist to republican.

Wharfe tells me: “When I was a protection officer for Diana I was a monarchist because I thought the royals were good for the country. But I’ve come to the conclusion that they’re not a very nice group of people.”

Wharfe, 68, who wrote a best-selling book, Closely Guarded Secret, about his time with Scotland Yard’s royal protection unit, fears that the image of some of the “more workshy, minor royals” may jeopardise the monarchy’s future.

“There’s a danger that unless the Family is seen to be achieving something then people like Corbyn and the republican movement will become every stronger.”

He believes the solution is that the monarchy should slim down to include just the sovereign, the heir and maybe two others.

“People like Prince Andrew and the Duke of Kent should go. Ultimately I see the British royals going the way of European monarchies, but I’m not certain that Prince Charles wants to slim the operation down that much.”

Not even William may be able to secure its future, says Wharfe, who now has little regard for the prince who he used to play with while William was growing up at Kensington Palace and Highgrove.

“He was always a sly little boy, and now he’s become arrogant and spoilt. I hear from people who work for William that he can be very difficult. I liked Harry better and I feel sorry for him because he was never really able to engage in his military career. But I think he’s the answer to the family’s longevity, and I bet if there was a vote on who should accede to the throne; the people would go for Harry.”

He concludes ominously: “I’m not sure the next generation will even care about the royal family at all. They may simply become irrelevant.”

[From The Express]

Well well well. Do I believe Wharfe has used his tenuous connection to Princess Diana for years to make a living? Sure. Do I believe that Ken Wharfe is still knowledgeable about the inner workings of the monarchy? Eh. Do I believe that he probably does have sources/friends that work for the Windsors/Cambridges/Waleses in some capacity? Yes. I do. And I have the feeling that the people who work in some capacity for William are fed up with temper tantrums and arrogance, and those people gossip about him. It’s very interesting, isn’t it?
