Adele bitched out a concert-goer who was recording her: rude or totally fine?

Adele’s tour has been going pretty smoothly. She ends up making news for cute reasons, like when she wins awards in the middle of a show, or when she forgets the lyrics to one of her songs and has to stop everything to call herself out. But there have been no health problems, no meltdowns, no major flubs or anything like that. But over the weekend, Adele did have to bitch out one of her fans at a concert in Verona, Italy. Apparently, the Adele-fan was filming Adele and Adele stopped the show to drag this fan.

In case you can’t make out what she says, Adele tells the fan:

“Yeah, I want to tell that lady as well, can you stop filming me with a video camera because I’m really here in real life. You can enjoy it in real life, rather than through your camera. Can you take your tripod down? This isn’t a DVD, this is a real show. I’d really like you to enjoy my show because there’s lots of people outside that couldn’t come in.”

What’s crazy is that this person had a whole set-up involving a tripod?!? Jesus H. I get that it’s “the thing to do” nowadays to film your concert-going experience on a shaky camera-phone, but seriously… why not just put the camera down and actually experience the concert? Maybe that sounds impossibly old-school, I know.

Meanwhile, did you know that Adele has quietly purchased a home in Beverly Hills? IS SHE MOVING TO AMERICA?!?! Adele already owns property in England, obviously, but I do wonder if she wants to spend more time in America these days. She’s reportedly just signed a huge new recording contract with Sony and she obviously plans to keep making albums for a long time. Maybe she wants her next album to be recorded in LA.

Taylor Swift & Calvin Harris are spending Christmas together in Vail, Colorado

Several weeks ago, I suggested that Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift might be on track to an engagement. Some of you disagreed! Some of you thought that Tay-Tay and Calvin are already on the outs, even though they really did spend her 25th birthday together at a big industry party in LA. And now this: Tay-Tay and Calvin are spending Christmas together. In Colorado. With HER family.

Taylor happily posted several photos from her Colorado vacation (they’re in Vail). The pics feature snowmen, Calvin and Taylor’s brother Austin. Entertainment Tonight says that Calvin and the Swifts plan on spending the whole holiday there. Can we talk about an engagement now? Please? I mean, I’ve said all along that this will end in tears and blind-item songs. But Calvin has stuck with it, perhaps because he’s as much of a gossip-y drama queen as Taylor. He’s proven that he can be her knight-in-shining tweeter and he’s not ashamed of being seen with her in public. I for one am hoping that Taylor gets an engagement ring on Christmas. Because that way, when it ends, it will be mega-epic. It will fuel three double-albums worth of blind item songs. It will be glorious.

One more thing: Taylor is going to drop her new music video for “Out of the Woods” on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. So… I mean, just prepare yourself for that.

Eminem raps about ‘punching Lana Del Rey in the face like Ray Rice’

Last Friday, I predicted that Eminem’s rare public appearance for Dre would be the last time we saw him until he promoted a new project. Well, I was right. I just didn’t expect him to promote something so soon. I certainly didn’t expect him to start stunt queening like Nicki Minaj right out of the gate. That’s exactly what Eminem is doing.

Em’s Shady XV is on the horizon. He released a new video, which is actually a 6-minute freestyle rap, “CXVPHER,” with other artists like Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse. Eminem’s part of the rap comes in at the end, so he can prove his “Rap God” credentials and wipe the other dudes off the map. It goes without saying that many of the lyrics are NSFW, and you can see the whole video on Vevo. Here is the part that everyone is upset about:

“But I may fight for gay rights, especially if they d**e is more of a knockout than Janay Rice/Play nice? Bitch I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance/’Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens.

*Sigh* He had to go there, didn’t he? Look … I know these sort of lyrics from Em are nothing new. In more than one song, he rapped about Pamela and Tommy Lee and their cycle of domestic violence. He criticized and satirized their relationship through the Slim Shady persona. He riffs on public figures like crazy. That’s what he does.

At the same time, I thought Eminem had grown past this routine. Yes, I know he’ll assign these lyrics to Slim Shady, but this act is getting old. Em’s last few albums have shown an incredible amount of maturity. Now? Dude is 42 years old, and he’s still plucking low-hanging fruit and milking it for controversy. One could make a case for Em simply riffing off Lana Del Rey’s own morbid Ultraviolence lyrics which include, “He hit me, and it felt like a kiss.” But he had to drag Ray and Janay Rice into it.

Kanye West is a ‘married Christian man,’ meaning he’s immune from criticism

You know how Kanye West likes to yell at people in wheelchairs? It’s true. There’s video evidence. The Daily Mail (and other outlets) reported over the weekend that during one of Kanye’s Australian shows, he refused to start a song until every single person was standing. Even the people in wheelchairs. When the audience tried to tell Kanye that the one dude he was yelling at was actually unable to stand up, Kanye waited until he got solid confirmation. Here’s the video:

So, the video and the story went viral. Kanye was bashed soundly and justifiably because OMG, who does that? I really hate when musical acts try to get too interactive with the audience, “Clap your hands, stand up, come here,” JUST SING. Just perform. You’re an entertainer. Entertain. Anyway, you would think that this bad press would make Yeezington stop for a moment and reflect on why it was a bad idea to accost a dude in a wheelchair. Nope. A genius like Kanye will not have any moments of self-reflection. Y’all are just haters and #NoDisrespectToBenAffleck, but he’s a married Christian man and apparently that makes him untouchable? Skip ahead to the 1-minute mark:

What Kanye says:

“What I want you to do is I want you to run the video everyone’s talking about where I so-called screamed at somebody and everything. I want you to run that, right, since this is such big media-press-news and everything that obviously they trying to demonize me for. It’s like, “Welcome to today’s news, ladies and gentlemen.” We’ve got Americans getting killed on TV, kids getting killed every weekend in Chicago, unarmed people getting killed by police officers…”

“…It makes you just want to reflect on what are the things that are a little bit more sensationalized than others. … Because they’ve got this thing where they want the masses—people who’ve never heard my albums—to somehow read a headline that reads negative, and think that I’m a bad person or something. I’m not judging, I’m just going to tell you who I am. I’m a married, Christian man.”

He doesn’t get more specific than that, but he does note that even though he’s talking about marriage, he’s no Ben Affleck at the Oscars: “Anyone here that’s married or that’s in a relationship knows that there’s enough things working against you. I’m not going to make one of them Ben Affleck statements and s–t.” Fair enough.

It really cracks me up that Kanye references Ben Affleck consistently in his rants. What’s up with that? No, I’m really asking. Ben Affleck isn’t a gossip fixture so much these days, but I feel like Kanye has his eye on Affleck. Like, Kanye has “Ben Affleck” on Google Alert so he can keep up with all the late-breaking Affleck news. Kanye saw Affleck win an Oscar and he watched Ben’s speech several times so he could reference it later. Does Kanye see Affleck as a force for good or for evil? I can’t decide.

As for the “married Christian man” stuff… I don’t even know what Kanye’s train of thought is there. Is he saying that he’s more moral and righteous than unmarried, un-Christian people? That his married Christian status makes him bulletproof and immune from (justified) criticism?

Lou Reed’s Albums Got A 607% Increase In Sales After Death

Lou Reed, musician and Kanye West aficionado, died on Sunday, October 27 2013. And it sounds gruesome to say but his album sales haven’t been this good in decades. After his death there was a 607% increase in album sales. More stats from LA Times:

For the week ended Oct. 27, total sales of Reed’s albums were 3,000, up 607% from the previous week’s sales, which clocked in at less than 1,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

That time period includes less than a day after Reed’s passing became public, so the tally will probably grow for the next week, especially considering that many people probably didn’t learn about the news of the singer-songwriter’s passing until Monday morning.

It was revealed that Mr. Reed died from liver disease. He died at home in Long Island, NYC, according to his doctor via MSN.

Oh and now for the gossip portion of this post. Here’s a photo where it looks like David Bowie and Lou Reed are going to kiss, but Bowie says they’re not. Here’s his actual response from 1993 via Feel Numb:

This was at the Cafe Royal in London after the final Ziggy gig at Hammersmith. Lou Reed and Mick Jagger, who’s behind us, came down. I’m not actually kissing him. If you study it, I’m talking into his ear and he’s talking into mine. I’m quite a way over. But it was near enough to a kiss for the press and they all printed it. We were supposed to have been kissing at that time anyway so there was the evidence. No, I think Lou Reed is the last person in the world I’d want to kiss.

Bet he’d want to kiss him now if he could :(

Lady Gaga has revealed new cover art for her first single from her upcoming album.

The ‘Applause’ cover is very artsy, and Gaga’s entire face is painted. Her eyes appear to be painted as tidal waves and her mouth as fire. I can’t help but think it looks like Gaga is being born in this photo. Heh.

ARTPOP will be Lady Gaga’s third studio album. It hits shelves on November 11, 2013. Do you think ARTPOP will live up to her first two albums?

Get Excited! Adele’s Recording Her New Album And It’ll Be Out Next Year

Adele‘s been a busy lady this past year. Between giving birth to a son and exchanging cooking tips with Barbra Streisand, there’s not really been any time for music… until now! According to The Mirror, Adele started recording the follow-up to her massively successful sophomore album 21 on Monday and it’s due for release in the middle of 2014. Ohhhh, snap!

“Adele is currently in a recording studio in London and it’s in lockdown mode for the next few weeks.

“Four tracks are finished in terms of writing and she’s now laying down preliminary vocals with backing music and singers.

“The rest of the record will be done in LA. The feel is very much Adele going back to her roots, with some modern jazz and a couple of classic old songs.”

Hmm, I just hope it doesn’t suck like so many people’s albums do once they have kids. I’m not sure what’s up with that phenomenon but it happens SO often with female singers, I find.

Whatever, Adele’s a classic, so for now we’ll just assume it’s going to be amazing.
