Kathy Griffin finally sells Hollywood Hills mansion

After more than a year on the market, beleaguered insult comedian Kathy Griffin, wrapping up a world tour, sold “Wings,” her former mansion in the Hollywood Hills for $4,492,500, substantially below the original asking price of $5.495 million but still a small fortune above the $2.85 million she paid for the dramatically sited residence in the spring of 2004. The three-story, elevator-equipped mansion, behind gates and positioned high above the street with panoramic canyon views, has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and six fireplaces in 8,098 square feet. This is the same house where she recorded her neighbor screaming like a NYC trucker into her gate. So enjoy your new home. Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper are through as friends!

Kathy Griffin, the comedian that made headlines in June after she was featured in a photo holding a bloodied mask that resembled President Trump, said in an interview that she is no longer friends with her former New Year’s Eve co-host, Anderson Cooper. Griffin told The Cut that when Cooper eventually reached out to her, she informed him that their friendship was over. Griffin was apparently upset about Cooper’s initial response to the photo controversy. The CNN anchor said, “For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.” Griffin told the magazine that she was upset that Cooper did not reach out to her before commenting publically. Griffin, meanwhile, is attempting to relaunch her career after being marred by the photo controversy. She came out hours later acknowledging she “went too far” and apologizing for the disturbing image, but the damage was done. Several theaters canceled performances with Griffin citing the controversy. CNN announced it would be ending its relationship with the star, who hosts its New Year’s Eve program. Her co-host, Anderson Cooper, also said he was “appalled” by the photoshoot. Trump and first lady Melania Trump also released statements condemning the attack on their family. Trump added the picture took a toll on his 11-year-old son Barron as the first lady questioned Griffin’s mental health. Griffin later accused the Trump family of systematically “mobilizing their armies” against her. “I don’t think I’ll have a career after this. I’m going to be honest, he broke me,” Griffin said in a news conference. The post Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper are through as friends! appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.

Kathy Griffin shaves head in support of sister with cancer

Kathy Griffin has shaved her head to show support for her sister Joyce, who’s currently battling cancer. An image of the 56-year-old comedian was shared by journalist Yashar Ali on Monday showing her smiling and patting her bald head after the buzz-cut.  Griffin’s mother Maggie – who was seen on her daughter’s show My Life on the D-List – was pictured holding her hand over her mouth as she pats the comedienne’s bare head. Her mother later took to Twitter to comment on the show of support and added: ‘My daughter Kathleen Mary is a wonderful human being.’ Griffin, an Oak Park, Illinois native, has a tragic family past with cancer, as she lost her brother Gary, 63, three years ago in the wake of a what she called ‘a brutal struggle’ with esophageal cancer in an Instagram post memorializing her lost sibling. Griffin hasn’t spoken publicly about her sister’s fight with cancer. She does have five siblings, including Joyce. In a Wall Street Journal interview in 2015, she shared that the two shared a room growing up. Garry Shandling has passed away at the age of 66

Garry Shandling passed away on Thursday, March 24, in Los Angeles at just 66 years old. Shandling was one of the most beloved and influential comedians of his generation, with a dry, deadpan wit and a penchant for observational humor. He was well-regarded, respected and adored within the acting and comedic communities. He was most famous for his two popular and Emmy-winning shows, The Larry Sanders Show (where he played a late-night talk show host) and the It’s Garry Shandling’s Show. You can see his IMDB here. I had actually forgotten that he was still getting acting work – he’s been in a handful of Marvel movies over the past few years. Shandling had recently been diagnosed with a hyper parathyroid gland, which he discussed on his last episode of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. He apparently collapsed at his LA home on Thursday, then he was rushed to the hospital, which is where he passed away. Many are talking about Shandling’s appearance on that Seinfeld show – it’s an episode called “Isn’t It Great That Garry Shandling Is Still Alive” and you can watch it here. Twitter and the late-night shows were full of tributes to Shandling. Here are just a few along. RIP Garry Shandling and thank you for all the laughs. Shocked and saddened to hear about Garry Shandling's sudden death. I was honored to get to work with him. He will be missed. — Ellen DeGeneres (@TheEllenShow) March 24, 2016 Garry Shandling was as kind and generous as he was funny and that is saying a lot. — Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) March 24, 2016 Garry was/ will always be my teacher. Kathy Griffin was turned away from late night TV because she’s a woman

Whether you love Kathy Griffin or hate her, you can’t deny that one of the most refreshing things about her is her absolute candor about the ups and downs of her career. It certainly ain’t always glamourous, and she’s definitely faced her fair share of rejection, but she takes it all in stride with a great amount of humour and just keeps trudging forward. Not only that, but she’s stayed down-to-earth and still regards the whole world of celebrity with as much amazement and bewilderment as we all do. All of that is exactly why I believe Kathy when she said she was turned away from even being in the running for Craig Ferguson’s late night chat show spot just because she’s a woman. Kathy approached CBS about the show and was told that they’re not actually looking for women, and that was pretty much that. From The Poughkeepsie Journal: “I was interested in the Ferguson spot long before it was announced because I had a feeling things might shift,” said a candid Griffin. “My joke phrase is, ‘I can start Monday.’” The response of one executive to her query: “They’re not considering females at this time,” she recounted. “You realize that’s illegal to say in a business meeting?” was Griffin’s comeback. When she told another industry exec that the absence of female hosts was “embarrassing” and that women who represent half the population should hold half of such jobs, he had a ready answer: “Well, you have ‘The Talk.’” That show, of course, is in daytime and has five co-hosts, not one powerful female comedian owning the nighttime stage. The effect, even for a resilient professional like Griffin, is dispiriting. “I walk into the (meeting) room thinking, ‘I’ll give it a shot.’ I leave the room thinking, ‘I never had a chance,’” she said. For the record, it’s UK actor James Corden who got the post, and for those of you who are saying that Kathy got turned away not because of her gender but because she’s not all that funny, neither is he. And neither was Jay Leno, and his ass was on TV for decades. Letterman isn’t even that funny, but because he’s a man, he’s apparently more worthy of the job? Nah, I don’t think so. It wouldn’t be so bad if they hired a man of colour, but considering that’s likely not on the cards either, I think it’s clear that to the big networks, TV is a straight white man’s game.
