Donald Trump is fine with letting trans people use whichever bathroom they want

I keep losing track of Donald Trump’s various wars on media outlets, but I guess he’s okay with NBC this week, because he appeared on Thursday morning’s Today Show for an exclusive interview/town hall which is getting wide coverage, mostly because Trump answered some questions about LGBTQ issues and more specifically, the North Carolina “bathroom law.” North Carolina passed their own draconian “religious freedom” law last month, which basically entitles every anti-gay bigot the “right” to discriminate against LGBTQ people, and even more specifically, it says that trans individuals can only use the public bathrooms which correspond to the gender on their birth certificate. The whole thing is a clusterwhoops, and North Carolina is losing millions of dollars as major businesses and artists boycott the state. The GOP platform is basically that these kinds of “religious freedom” laws are great and every state should have them. But Trump disagreed, saying: “Well look North Carolina did something that was very strong and they’re paying a big price and there’s a lot of problems. And one of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying, ‘Leave it the way it is right now, there have been very few problems, leave it the way it is.’ There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble.” Today show co-host Matt Lauer then asked Trump, “Do you have any transgender people working in your organization?” “I don’t know, I really don’t know,” Trump told Lauer. “I probably do, I really don’t know.” “So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you would be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?” Lauer asked. “That is correct,” Trump responded. [From E! News] Ted Cruz is already bashing Trump for his comments, but I have to think that Trump is already maneuvering into a general-election position, which… I don’t know, is actually pretty smart? I’m not saying I’m suddenly a Trump supporter, I’m just saying A) he’s smart to begin maneuvering his public positions to a more centrist platform and B) Trump’s words about the “bathroom issue” are actually not problematic at all. Of course, the Trump giveth and the Trump taketh away. No sooner did he say something relatively enlightened about LGBTQ people than he declared that taking Andrew Jackson off of the $20 bill was “pure political correctness.” Jackson is being replaced with Harriet Tubman, which is great and it’s what activists wanted. The original plan was to replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill, but Lin-Manuel Miranda saved Hamilton for everybody. So now we’re getting $20 Tubman and Trump is acting as an apologist for Andrew Jackson… who engineered a genocide. Or as Trump said, “he was someone very important to this country.” Trump’s solution? Put Tubman on the $2 bill. Oh, Trump. Here’s the $20 bill part. And here’s the LGBTQ part. Photos courtesy of Pacific Coast News.

Fox News: Donald Trump has an ‘extreme, sick obsession’ with Megyn Kelly

It’s been said before, but it’s worth repeating: Megyn Kelly is Donald Trump’s “type.” She’s blonde and beautiful, she’s intelligent, she’s got a hard, conservative edge and even she admits that he spent years trying to “woo” her. She told Vanity Fair a few months ago that Trump would send press clippings to her (press clippings about her) and sign them “Donald Trump.” My belief is that Trump’s raging hate-on for Megyn these days is mostly the hate-on some men have for women who have spurned their advances. Like, when he’s trying to woo you, you are the most beautiful, magical creature and as soon as you tell him you’re not interested (or that you’re both married to other people), suddenly he’s calling you a crazy bitch and/or a flighty bimbo, and you’re definitely on the rag. As I mentioned last week, Trump has renewed his attacks on Megyn Kelly. He has been tweeting a lot about how no one should watch “crazy Megyn” and her Fox News show. He tweeted: “Everybody should boycott the @megynkelly show. Never worth watching. Always a hit on Trump! She is sick, & the most overrated person on tv.” And more. At this point, he’s the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, so it does seem… I don’t know? Petty? Misogynistic? Idiotic? All of the above? But I always think he sounds that way. But what was interesting is that Fox News is finally getting serious about defending one of their big talents. They issued a statement about Trump’s tweets, saying: “Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megan Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land,” Fox News said in a statement. “Megan is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America — we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults.” [From Us Weekly] It feels like we’re through the looking glass, doesn’t it? I mean… I can’t remember a time when a political candidate running for the highest office in the land had to be publicly slammed by a cable news network for the misogynistic crap he was tweeting about a major news show anchor. And yes, I never thought I would write this, but: Fox News is right. Trump has an extreme, sick obsession with Megyn Kelly. And it feels like a creepy dude at a bar is mad at Megyn because she spurned his advances. Crazy @megynkelly says I don't (won't) go on her show and she still gets good ratings. But almost all of her shows are negative hits on me! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 19, 2016 If crazy @megynkelly didn't cover me so much on her terrible show, her ratings would totally tank. She is so average in so many ways! — Donald J. Aaron Carter Endorses Donald Trump, Goes on Insane Rant

Aaron Carter just pulled a Kanye West. Only instead of telling white critics to stop listening to his music, the singer went on a bizarre Twitter rant that highlighted his support for Donald Trump. “Does America want to have a president who FOLLOWS or someone who leads?” Carter asked on social media. “I vote For@realdonaldtrump.” Okay, fair enough we guess. Based on various polls and primary results, Carter is not the only person who feels this way. But after followers voiced their displeasure with his view, Carter proceeded to really jump off the deep end. “People look for anything and any chance they can to hate me for something it’s always SOMETHING I fight back and for myself not changing,” he wrote, later adding: “Just looking at these comment from trolls in my mentions just PROVES how immature our country has become. GROW UP in more ways than 1 thx.” We’ll refrain from pointing out the irony in saying the country is immature… while simultaneously saying you support a name-caller such as Donald Trump for President. Carter did say that he doesn’t agree with Trump’s stances on gay marriage or immigration, but “70%” of him is on Trump’s side, so this is the message he has for haters: “F-CK OFF.” View Slideshow: 14 Times Donald Trump Has Insulted Women When things finally escalated beyond a point where Twitter was suffient, Carter went on Periscope to speak his mind in an expletive-laden video. “People want to call me this and that, and this and that,” he ranted. “And they want to hate and do this and that, but guess what, bam, bam, bam!” said Carter, punching towards the camera. “I’m gonna fucking fight back, motherf-cker.” Concluded the artist: “Bam, bam, bam! One, two, three. The third one’s gonna knock you out. Don’t f-ck with me.” We’re just gonna back away slowly now and say that Carter definitely sounds like the the type of person who would vote for Donald Trump.

Pope Francis & Donald Trump are beefing about immigration, Christianity

In this photo, imagine Pope Francis saying, “Talk to the hand, Dorito.” As you’ve probably seen the news coverage by now, you know that Pope Francis was on a multi-day trip to Mexico, where he said mass for tens of thousands of people, visited the border and fussed at some dirtbag who basically pulled him onto a dude in a wheelchair. As the Pope was concluding his Mexico trip, he did a press conference for the media outlets trailing him. He was asked about the Church’s stance on birth control, given the outbreak of the Zika virus and the medical recommendations that men wear condoms to avoid infecting their partners. Francis was basically like “I can’t technically tell people that it’s fine to wear condoms, but it’s not really all that sinful in this particular case.” Which, hey, is a good first step. Then Francis got a question about Donald Trump. And the Pope did not hold back. Inserting himself into the Republican presidential race, Pope Francis on Wednesday suggested that Donald J. Trump “is not Christian” because of the harshness of his campaign promises to deport more immigrants and force Mexico to pay for a wall along the border. “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” Francis said when a reporter asked him about Mr. Trump on the papal airliner as he returned to Rome after his six-day visit to Mexico. Mr. Trump has staked out controversial positions on immigration, vowing to force Mexico to build a wall and also increase deportations. He has also made inflammatory comments accusing Mexican immigrants of being rapists and criminals. Asked whether he would try to influence Catholics in how they vote in the presidential election, Francis said he “was not going to get involved in that” but then repeated his criticism of Mr. Trump, with a caveat. “I say only that this man is not Christian if he has said things like that,” Francis said. “We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt.” [From The NYT] Sure. And guess who has orange skin, a bouffant wiglet, no self-control and two thumbs? THIS GUY. So of course Donald Trump had to respond. Trump told a crowd in South Carolina that ISIS’s “primary goal is to get to the Vatican. That would be their ultimate trophy.” Is it though? And: “If and when the Vatican is attacked… the pope would only wish and have prayed that Donald Trump would have been elected president. Because this would not have happened.” Will Francis really be praying for that specifically? Trump also said: “No leader, especially a religious leader, should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith. They are using the Pope as a pawn and they should be ashamed of themselves for doing so, especially when so many lives are involved and when illegal immigration is so rampant.” [From Jezebel] Yeah. So Donald Trump and Pope Francis are boy-beefing. How does that make you feel? For what it’s worth, I don’t think Francis was really questioning Trump’s faith as much as Francis was making a larger plea for understanding and compassion for immigrants. But whatever. BOY BEEF. .@realdonaldTrump responds to #PopeFrancis’ comments on building walls https://t.co/jOTsn7Hopt — CNN (@CNN) February 18, 2016 Photos courtesy of WENN.

Helen Mirren: ‘There is an extraordinary, extreme, right-wing voice in America’

Was I too nice to Helen Mirren yesterday? Probably. I like her so much, I do tend to ignore it when she makes problematic statements. My defense of her is usually along the lines of “well, now she knows, maybe she’s learned how to speak about this issue now.” Anyway, Britain’s Channel 4 released the video of their interview with Mirren, and she talks about a lot more than #OscarsSoWhite and the Academy. She was also asked about American politics. Just for the record, Helen has been married to an American for nearly 20 years, and I’m almost positive that she lives most of the time in America (I believe she and Taylor Hackford own homes in New Orleans and LA). Mirren is also an American citizen, likely through her marriage. So… I feel like it’s totally fine for Mirren to talk about American politics, considering she likely votes in American elections. And as it turns out, Mirren kind of hates Ted Cruz and to a lesser degree, Donald Trump. Whether the rise of Donald Trump signals a return of 1950s-style conservatism: “Yes, Donald Trump… and Ted Cruz. I suspect more Ted Cruz in a way than Donald Trump. I think the people who support Ted Cruz think Donald Trump is a little bit of a liberal. I think Donald Trump has a populist voice, massively populist, and that slightly demagogue, populist voice. But I think Ted Cruz is more the really old-school extreme right conservative.” The extreme right wing: “There is an extraordinary, extreme, right-wing voice in America – extreme. If that does get into power fully – in the Congress, in the Senate, in the White House and has all the power that it wants, I can’t imagine how the world would look. I think it’s a very, very frightening idea, myself. This whole idea of ‘making America great’ it seems to me it would actually be sort of the end of America as a great country.” [Via Channel 4, People Magazine] Helen has previously referred to Trump as “stupid,” but in this interview, it sounds like she’s more worried about Ted Cruz. I’m kind of feeling it too – the interviewer clearly wants to talk more about Donald Trump and hopefully takeaway a juicy, bitchy quote, but Mirren is more concerned about Cruz’s neo-McCarthyism. She’s right to be concerned. And personally, I’m still hoping that Donald Trump’s final gift to the American people is a spectacular takedown of Cruz. Please let it happen! Here’s Mirren’s interview. Mike Tyson Thinks Donald Trump Should Be President

Anyone who makes a living out of getting repeatedly punched in the head for several decades can’t be expected to have much common sense, so it’s not really any surprise that Mike Tyson has quite a few screws loose. He’s an ear-biting, pigeon loving lunatic, and generally this is harmless and pretty amusing. However, it’s also a bit worrying at times, like when he publicly comes out in support of Donald Trump for president. Uh, what? In an interview with Huffington Post Live, Mike said that he thinks Donald’s a good candidate for the highest office in the land because then America can be “run like a business” and racism magically won’t exist. Because, you know, Donald Trump isn’t one of the most racist men on the planet. “He should be president of the United States. Let’s try something new. Let’s run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job.” So how does Tyson react to Trump’s endless tirades about Mexicans? Oh, he’s just misunderstood! “I don’t think he thinks of Latinos in that way. I really don’t believe that. He’s a businessman. He’s just saying what the people want and the people want to hear that. If you believe that he believes that, you have to believe that most of the country believes that because they’re voting for him. “I don’t believe 90 percent of the country believe Latinos that were born here and their parents are illegal got to go. It hasn’t happened yet.” God help us all. Seriously. Follow us on Twitter | Facebook The post Mike Tyson Thinks Donald Trump Should Be President appeared first on Today's Evil Beet Gossip.
