Disney CEO Bob Iger is ‘not worried about’ Johnny Depp’s personal problems

Bob Iger is the CEO of Disney. Which means he’s getting a lot of the credit for the “success stories” in Hollywood these days. Disney owns LucasFilm, Marvel and Pixar, arguably the most successful properties in the film industry, domestically and internationally. So it’s no surprise that Iger was named The Hollywood Reporter’s Most Powerful Person In Entertainment. You can see THR’s Hollywood 100 list here. It includes people like Leo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jimmy Fallon and Lin-Manuel Miranda. My intention was just to glance through Iger’s extensive interview, but I ended up being drawn in and I read the whole piece. Iger talks a lot about Marvel, Rogue One, Shanghai Disney, the Orlando massacre and more. He says Rogue One is “actually going to be a fine film” and that Disney is truly working on another Indiana Jones movie. But here’s something that might interest you at a gossip level: Iger was asked directly about Johnny Depp. THR: Do you have Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean in the park? Iger: Yes. And Johnny Depp’s personal problems? Not worried about it. The scandal will pass? I don’t know whether it passes or not. We have Jack Sparrow. You think people separate. Right. [From THR] And that’s it. That’s the only thing he says about Depp. I give Iger some credit for not slamming Amber and for not giving Depp some ringing character reference or endorsement. But I do think Iger is kidding himself if he thinks the public will be able to separate Jack Sparrow and a drunk, abusive scarf monster. Also: this interview took place several weeks ago, during the heat of the Depp-Heard back-and-forth in the press. It also took place after Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass bombed at the box office. Disney has a lot of money invested in Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean, and while Disney will still be okay if Pirates bombs (they still have Stars Wars and Marvel, after all), Disney doesn’t want to eat the $320 million it cost to make POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales. And that’s just the production cost! It will cost Disney tens of millions to promote the film. Iger is counting on the idea that by the time the film comes out (next summer), people will have forgotten all about everything. Is that what will happen though? Judging from the above Instagram, Selma, Arthur and Jason took a long weekend – they were in Cancun last Thursday through Monday. On Monday, Selma and Arthur boarded a plane back to LA. And that’s when everything went haywire. According to witnesses, Selma mixed some medication with wine on the flight, and she began behaving bizarrely. Selma Blair was taken off a Delta flight Monday on a stretcher after losing control … TMZ has learned. Witnesses on a flight from Cancun, Mexico to LAX tell us, Blair was in first class and drinking wine. The witnesses say it appeared she put something in the glass and mixed it in. We’re told she suddenly started crying, “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink.” The witnesses say she continued, “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.” We’re told 2 nurses on board came over to help and checked her bags for pills. Our sources say the pilot radioed ahead and told the tower there was a passenger on board who had been mixing alcohol and meds. When the plane landed medical personal boarded the plane and took Blair off on a stretcher. She was taken to a nearby hospital. [From TMZ] My first instinct when reading Selma’s words was… I bet it’s nothing. Not because I want to shrug off those horrific words, it’s just that we’ve all said some crazy sh-t while drunk and/or high. She probably didn’t even know what she was saying, if the medications she mixed with wine were strong enough. People Magazine had more details about this whole incident and beyond too – their sources claim Selma was “happy and healthy” the entire time she was in Cancun, and she got spa treatments while her ex spent time with their son. An official (with the airline, perhaps) confirms that Selma had “taken a combination of prescription medication with alcohol,” but that it was unclear “what sort of prescription medications.” The worst part? Arthur Saint was traveling with his mom! Ugh. This is a bad situation. Also: reportedly, Selma went into rehab back in 2007, although she never discussed it publicly so who knows? As for Selma being “happy and healthy” during the Cancun trip, the Daily Mail published photos of her where she looks like she’s taken #AllThePills. Omar Mateen’s Ex-Wife Describes Shooter’s Gay Tendencies, Rage

Was Omar Mateen gay? The ex-wife of the Orlando nightclub shooter and her fiance certainly don't seem shocked by that recent assertion. In the wake of shocking claims about the gunman's sexuality, Sitora Yusufiy made comments of her own in an interview that back them up. Yusufiy, who was married to Mateen in 2009 for four months, and Marco Dias, to whom she is now engaged, sat down with SBT Brazil TV. There, she opened up about her ex-husband’s alleged past. Speaking in Portuguese on Yusufiy’s behalf, Dias stated that his fiancée believed that Omar Mateen exhibited “homosexual tendencies.” He also claimed that the killer, who shot 49 people dead in an LGBT club on Sunday, was derided as gay in front of her by his father. Yusufiy previously called Mateen abusive and unstable. "When we had gotten married, he confessed to me about his past that was recent at that time," she recalls. "He very much enjoyed going to clubs and the nightlife and there was a lot of pictures of him,” she explained. “I feel like it’s a side of him or a part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about.” When asked if she believed Mateen was gay, Yusufiy responded, “I don’t know," but implicitly commented that it was possible, even likely. "He never personally or even physically made any indication while we were together of that, but he did feel very strongly about homosexuality.” As reported earlier, patrons at Pulse nightclub, where he committed the worst shooting in U.S. history, believe they saw Mateen there regularly. One customer recalled to the Orlando Sentinel: “Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent.” “We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times. He told us he had a wife and child.” One of the gunman’s former classmates also opened up about his alleged homosexuality, saying he once asked him out “romantically.”

Johnny Depp’s ex-assistant claims Amber Heard is lying about the 2014 texts

One of the most frustrating things about the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp situation is not just the bro-culture of Johnny’s fans, but the blatantly misogynistic tone of some/much of the reporting. The way Amber’s story has been second-guessed and third-guessed and fourth-guessed by TMZ and other outlets has gotten ridiculous at this point. So, let’s talk about some of TMZ’s reporting. Yesterday, we covered Entertainment Tonight’s exclusive about the alleged text messages sent between Amber and Johnny’s then-assistant, a man named Stephen Deuters. In the text messages (reportedly from 2014) that ET published, Deuters and Amber were texting about an incident that happened the night before, where Depp kicked Amber in a drunken rage. Deuters told Amber that Johnny didn’t even remember doing it and that Johnny is “a little lost boy.” So what does TMZ have to report about those text messages? Johnny Depp’s assistant, Stephen Deuters, tells TMZ, the texts that were posted in which he allegedly apologized to Amber Heard for Johnny’s violent behavior are heavily doctored … and he never said Johnny attacked her. Deuters says he knows of no acts of abuse toward Amber at the hands of Johnny and has never made such a claim to anyone. He adds, Johnny has never been violent toward anyone he knows. Deuters says the texts themselves are suspicious because they don’t even show a date. Bottom line … he says he will testify under oath he never had a conversation about alleged violence with Amber. [From TMZ] First of all, it’s not like Amber doesn’t also have photos, witnesses and a video. Why are people acting like IF Deuters is telling the truth, then Amber’s story should be thrown out? Second of all, telling TMZ you will testify under oath about having no knowledge of abuse is different than actually testifying under oath and being cross-examined by a series of lawyers. Do you know what I mean? Lindsay Lohan can run to TMZ and tell them any story she wants (and she has, hundreds of times), but when it comes time to actually give testimony under oath, it’s a totally different story. Especially when Amber has made it pretty clear that she’s been holding on to two years’ worth of receipts which her lawyers will use to incriminate the dudes being sent out to muddy the waters on Amber’s claims. As for those receipts, TMZ is still playing fast and loose with whether Amber has filed police reports and whether filing a police report is the make-or-break evidence in whether Johnny abused Amber for years. Many abuse victims never file police reports and it doesn’t make the abuse any less real, that’s all I’ll say. Anyway, TMZ also says that Amber has had a “change of heart” about filing a police report because she “doesn’t want to bury him” and she doesn’t want to see Depp arrested. But “sources connected with Johnny scoff at Amber’s sympathy,” and claim that Amber has just done all of this so that Alice Through the Looking Glass would bomb at the box office. Seriously? Johnny Depp got into a drunken altercation with his bodyguard in Denmark

Johnny Depp has been on tour with his band (eyeroll) the Hollywood Vampires for the past week. They’ve been touring around Europe, and it’s led to some uncomfortable photo-ops. The Daily Mail got their hands on some exclusive photos of Depp surrounded by people in Denmark, at 2 am outside a bar/club – go here to see. He seems to be in the company of a few ladies and more than a few gentlemen. The DM says that a few of those gentlemen are Depp’s bodyguards, or perhaps the band’s bodyguards/roadies (they look more like roadies than bodyguards, in my opinion). I tend to think the Daily Mail has just made up a narrative to go along with the photos, but they do claim to have eyewitnesses, so maybe this is 100% real. Apparently, while Depp was in Denmark, he was boozing it up quite heavily, plus he was getting blackout-flirty with a mystery blonde. Plus he got into some kind of altercation with one of the bodyguards/roadies. So rock n’ roll. So scarfy. So charming. So youthful. A boozed-up Johnny Depp got into an altercation with one of his own bodyguards — as he cavorted with a mystery blonde in a Denmark bar late Wednesday, according to a report. The 52-year-old actor’s bodyguard was trying to persuade him to return to the Royal Hotel bar about 2:30 a.m., but Depp preferred to continue partying and swigging Champagne at a concert afterparty, the Daily Mail reported. Depp, who is touring Europe with his band The Hollywood Vampires, was celebrating in the wee hours with bandmates and crew members after a gig in the Danish city of Horsens. Depp was intent on “drinking and smoking a lot” with the blonde, witnesses said. “Johnny was in a party mood, that’s for sure,” an observer said. “His bodyguard had his hand on his shoulder and was trying to get him to go back inside, but Johnny refused to go. More and more fans came up to him and he wanted to talk to all of them and take selfies with them,” the witness said, the paper reported. “And the bodyguard got more and more persistent but Johnny didn’t want to go. … And he definitely drank his fair share of alcohol.” Photographs show the tattooed Depp — clad in a brown-and-black vest and white shirt — glaring furiously at the bodyguard as he tried to lead him away from several people. Meanwhile, a brunette seems to be trying to calm the volatile actor, putting his arm around her shoulder. “Johnny was the last one to leave the bar, even after everyone had finished the champagne and gone home, it was Johnny that went back to the bar,” the observer said. “To look at him last night, with his clothes from the show and the mascara and everything, he looked like he was Jack Sparrow one more time.” The actor was outside the hotel bar with the blonde for a couple of hours, the paper reported. “They smoked a lot and drank a lot,” another observer said. “Johnny was sitting at a table behind me at the time, before they went outside together. They were outside together for about two hours and looked very animated when they were talking. It looked like she was really leading the conversation, while he was listening to her. And she was smoking a lot the whole time and drinking from the bottle of bubbly. It’s clear they already knew each other. I stood by her when she was at the bar and she asked a woman for a light, and she was bought a white wine by an older man at the bar,” the person said. [From Page Six] This sounds like “obvious story is obvious.” I’m almost positive that Depp is in the throes of addiction, and I’m almost positive that this is Depp bottoming out. Most addiction-experts believe that you’re just supposed to stand back and let the addict hit rock bottom on their own and then, hopefully, they will acknowledge that they need help. But Depp’s downward spiral seems to be less self-harming and more violent-towards-other-people. Don’t get me wrong, he’s self-destructive too. But he’s so cushioned by yes-men and sycophants that I’m more concerned for the people around him who get caught up – physically and emotionally – in his downward spiral. And if Depp is really taking out sh-t on the people who get paid to look after him? Well, maybe Amber Heard will have even more witnesses. Johnny Depp: Drunken Assault on Amber Heard Revealed?

On Friday, Amber Heard requested a restraining order against Johnny Depp, claiming that her estranged husband had violently assaulted her and left her with facial bruising and other injuries. Several of Depp’s high profile friends and exes expressed their skepticism about Heard’s version of events, with some even going so far as to accuse the actress of blackmailing Depp.  Heard’s attorneys responded by issuing a statement indicating that Heard plans to file assault charges against Depp. Her legal team now claims that she had only declined to do so on the night of the alleged attack in hopes of protecting “her privacy and Johnny’s career.” Now that Depp’s team has publicly accused her of lying, however, it seems that all bets are off. Not only will Heard be filing a police report that could result in serious criminal charges for the 52-year-old actor, her lawyers have claimed that the attack that took place last week (during which Depp allegedly struck Heard in the face with an iPhone) was not an isolated incident. The Daily Mail has a new interview with Real Housewives of New York’s Ramona Singer, 59. Her quotes reads like a drunken bragging session about how gorgeous she is. I don’t watch RHONY and my opinion of this woman is based on the handful of times I’ve paid attention to her, but she sounds just about as sheltered and clueless as most of the real housewives. They become sort-of interchangeable at times. Ramona, 59, had breast augmentation two years ago and she’ll tell you about it. The Daily Mail has a comparison photo of Singer in a bikini before and after her new boobs and she looked better “before” to me, but I’m smaller on top and I like it that way. I hear so many horror stories from my friends with big boobs (like Kaiser) about how it’s hard to exercise or find clothing that fits right. At least that’s what I tell myself because bigger boobs are not in my future. Singer has surely had a ton of Botox and fillers in her face, but she’s proud of the fact that she hasn’t had invasive plastic surgery, which sounds just like what her co-star Bethenny Frankel said recently, although Frankel was probably lying. Here’s what Ramona told the Daily Mail: says she looks better at 59 thanks to carefree new outlook, strict fitness routine, hair extensions and a boob job. ‘I’m feeling really good. A weight has been lifted off me and that’s reflected in my face and my spirit and my body,’ she tells DailyMail.com. The Bravo star said she had her breasts enhanced because she wanted to ‘feel sexier,’ but she has no intention of going under the knife again. ‘Why would I have anything planned? I look the best I’ve ever looked,’ she said. ‘I think I look great, I’m very happy.’ The star revealed that her plastic surgeon was reluctant to perform the boob job on her and tried to talk her out of it. ‘I’ve always had great breasts,’ she revealed. ‘My legs and my breasts have always been great features.’ ‘In fact my doctor, she thought I was nuts, she didn’t even want to touch my breasts. ‘She was like, ‘Are you kidding? You have gorgeous breasts and your breasts are better than most 25-year-olds. What are you doing?…’ ‘I did it for me… I wanted to feel sexier,’ she said. ‘I wanted to be able to look just as good with a brassiere as without one. ‘And before, because I am over 50, let’s face it gravity hits. It wasn’t hitting that badly, but I wanted to look perkier. I wanted to be perky the way I was in my 30s.’ ‘And it made me feel good,’ she added. The reality star said she saw no issue with getting plastic surgery over 50. ‘Most women have had their breasts done two or three times already,’ said Ramona. ‘There are girls getting their breasts done at 17,18,20 – it’s crazy. So for me to wait until after 50, so be it. Why not?’ Ramona denied having invasive work done on her face. ‘Most girls my age over 50 have had the complete facelift, the neck lift and I don’t really need that,’ she said. ‘I’m into working out and staying fit.’ [From The Daily Mail] No, most “girls” her age have not had a complete facelift or multiple boob jobs. Maybe most of the women she knows have. Maybe in their group of moneyed women and reality stars they’re so used to looking at frozen faces that they become normal, but they’re still noticeably different to the rest of us. I know maybe 3-5 people who have had work done to their faces, and maybe 10 people who have had Botox. It’s still rare in my part of the country. It’s kind of scary to think that there are places where teens are getting new boobs in high school and are stopping by strip malls to get their lips plumped but I know those places exist and it happens. When you put it in that context, it’s easy to say “Oh this boob job is no biggie, this Restylane and Botox is nothing, you should see what Sharon had done.
