Disney CEO Bob Iger is ‘not worried about’ Johnny Depp’s personal problems

Bob Iger is the CEO of Disney. Which means he’s getting a lot of the credit for the “success stories” in Hollywood these days. Disney owns LucasFilm, Marvel and Pixar, arguably the most successful properties in the film industry, domestically and internationally. So it’s no surprise that Iger was named The Hollywood Reporter’s Most Powerful Person In Entertainment. You can see THR’s Hollywood 100 list here. It includes people like Leo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jimmy Fallon and Lin-Manuel Miranda. My intention was just to glance through Iger’s extensive interview, but I ended up being drawn in and I read the whole piece. Iger talks a lot about Marvel, Rogue One, Shanghai Disney, the Orlando massacre and more. He says Rogue One is “actually going to be a fine film” and that Disney is truly working on another Indiana Jones movie. But here’s something that might interest you at a gossip level: Iger was asked directly about Johnny Depp. THR: Do you have Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean in the park? Iger: Yes. And Johnny Depp’s personal problems? Not worried about it. The scandal will pass? I don’t know whether it passes or not. We have Jack Sparrow. You think people separate. Right. [From THR] And that’s it. That’s the only thing he says about Depp. I give Iger some credit for not slamming Amber and for not giving Depp some ringing character reference or endorsement. But I do think Iger is kidding himself if he thinks the public will be able to separate Jack Sparrow and a drunk, abusive scarf monster. Also: this interview took place several weeks ago, during the heat of the Depp-Heard back-and-forth in the press. It also took place after Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass bombed at the box office. Disney has a lot of money invested in Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean, and while Disney will still be okay if Pirates bombs (they still have Stars Wars and Marvel, after all), Disney doesn’t want to eat the $320 million it cost to make POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales. And that’s just the production cost! It will cost Disney tens of millions to promote the film. Iger is counting on the idea that by the time the film comes out (next summer), people will have forgotten all about everything. Is that what will happen though? Rick Astley never gave us up – and tops the British charts once again

In “What year is this?” news, Rick Astley has a number one album – in his home country of England. The singer, now 50, just hit the charts with his comeback album, titled 50. Well, naming your album after your current age worked for Adele. Apparently, this tactic also proved successful for Rick. You young whippersnappers may only know Rick from the internet phenomenon known as “Rickrolling,” where pranksters would tempt you to click a link only to be taken to a video for Rick’s 1987 hit “Never Gonna Give You Up” (still a damn catchy tune if you ask me). The prank garnered Rick over 70 million views of the song’s video on YouTube and led to a surprise appearance at the 2008 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. England’s Telegraph complied some fun facts about Rick that are worth a read. He was kind of a big deal. The singer retired in 1993 to raise his daughter and now, 23 years later, Rick is back with a vengeance. The new album beat out Paul McCartney and popular British singer Tom Odell to take the top spot. The first single off of the album, “Keep Singing”, shows off Rick’s still soulful pipes, and the singer still has the youthful looks he rocked back in the 80s. Yes, I admit, I fangirled out a little when I saw this video. He’s still a cutie. Rick, who thought the whole Rickrolling thing was “hilarious” is slightly surprised about the success of his comeback album. He recently told the Daily Mail, “It’s all a bit bonkers. I am not allowing myself to believe that it is all happening. This time last year, I would have laughed at the thought of being number one again. And I almost didn’t care whether it hit the top or not. Because it is just fantastic to be here.” Sadly, we US Rick fans will have to wait until October 7th to download the album, which is available for pre-order on iTunes. I think it’s awesome that Rick is back. I always thought he was a great singer. I do like “You Move Me” better than “Give You Up,” but he was part of the soundtrack of my college years and I’m glad to see him again. With 80s classics like Ghostbusters coming back to the big screen – along with rumored remakes of Overboard, War Games and Police Academy, it’s kind of inevitable that we’re ready to welcome some of the decade’s more memorable voices back to the airwaves (or streaming services – I’m not that old). Kim Kardashian: Wrap Your Next Gift With My Butt Cheeks!

Next time you buy a gift for a loved one, show them how much you really care by enveloping the keepsake in a paper shroud of Kim Kardashian's butt cheeks. Yes, this is a thing you can actually do now, thanks to the shameless promotion of Kim K. herself. As owner of the world's most famous ass, Kim has plastered her cartoon Kimoji butts all over a sheet of high-end paper and is selling the rolls for $35 a pop. Thirty-five dollars? It'd be far cheaper to DIY with a few copies of her Paper magazine shoot and some Elmer's glue, but that's just me. Actually, no. Because who wants to receive any sort of present wrapped in Kim's ass? We see that thing all day, err day in all of our internet feeds, whether we want to or not. But don't despair, if you prefer the other end of Kim's bod, you can also purchase a roll of the wrap featuring her cry face. At this point, pics of Kim's butt or any other body part is truly just passe and barely worth a glance, because they're not exactly in short supply. Recently, the selfie queen took it all off for GQ magazine, and the only one who even seemed to look twice was her husband Kanye West. Actually, we take that back. Her ex-husband Kris Humphries reportedly described her images in the magazine as "scrumptious," although Gossip Cop refuted that claim. Ironically, even though Kim's ample ass has brought her fame and fortune, she now wants to downsize her badonkadonk. While she's met her goal of losing all the weight she gained while pregnant with her son Saint West, she says wants to lose 12 more pounds of butt weight to get down to 120. "My butt and my hips are the last to go, but I'm not stopping!" Kardashian said. “I want to lose my bum, not all the way but it’s weird how your body changes with different babies," she told fans at London's Vogue Festival last month. “I want to get to Kim 2010-11 so I’m really going to focus and get there,” she added. And when that happens, she can re-brand the wrapping paper as "Vintage Kim" and charge an extra $25. She already sent some to Kylie Jenner, who posted it on Snapchat:

Kendall Jenner thinks Stephanie Seymour ‘publicly shamed’ her with a mild insult

As we discussed earlier this week, Stephanie Seymour kind-of sort-of threw a little shade on the current crop of Insta-models, meaning Kendall Jenners and Gigi Hadids of the world, the ones who get jobs because of nepotism and social media. Personally, I agreed with what Stephanie had to say – she just pointed out that in her era, the 1980s, supermodels were the real deal. She said Kendall and Gigi “are completely different than we were. Supermodels are sort of the thing of the past. They deserve their own title. [Kendall and Gigi] are beautiful girls, and I support all of them, but they need their own title.” As in, don’t call them “supermodels,” which I agree with. Then Stephanie was asked what their new title should be and jokingly said “bitches of the moment.” Well, you can guess what happened next. Kendall Jenner got her panties in a wad! Kendall wrote about it on her kendallj.com site: “Gigi sent me the most recent rant and I’m disappointed. If you’re going to tell us not to be in ‘your moment,’ then don’t be in mine! No one is trying to steal Stephanie Seymour’s thing, or trying to be her. I actually looked up to her. She has a daughter! I guarantee you that she didn’t imagine someone so publicly shaming her daughter when she made those comments about us being ‘bitches of the moment.’” “Being a ‘supermodel’ is a relative term. If people want to call Gigi and I supermodels now, it doesn’t take anything away from supermodels of the past. Obviously, I have so much respect for those women, but right now, we’re the models of this time. Significant? Maybe. Hardworking? For sure.” “When I’m older, I’m going to be so nice to anyone who’s trying to do the same thing as me. There are other supermodels who give me tips and build up my confidence, sending me notes after a spread comes out, saying, ‘You’re killing it.’ That’s the classy way to behave and I fully intend on being a positive influence on anyone younger than me, my entire life.” [From Us Weekly] “Publicly shaming”??? Stephanie made a quip and maybe it could be taken as an insult, but it’s not SHAMING. I also disagree with Kendall about how calling the Instamodels “supermodels” doesn’t take away from the past. It really, really does. Maybe Kendall and Gigi will have 15-year careers and they’ll be on every cover, etc, and then we’ll be able to say “Yeah, they were great and they were definitely supermodels.” But right now, looking at their meager careers, they should not be called supermodels because they just haven’t put in the work. And if Kendall really is going to try to build that kind of career, she needs to learn to shrug it off when there’s one person who isn’t kissing her ass. Kendall and Gigi should have just let Stephanie say her piece and left it at that. We can argue about whether Stephanie meant to be petty – I don’t think she was, really – but can we all agree that Kendall has been infected with Special Snowflake Syndrome? Omar Mateen’s Ex-Wife Describes Shooter’s Gay Tendencies, Rage

Was Omar Mateen gay? The ex-wife of the Orlando nightclub shooter and her fiance certainly don't seem shocked by that recent assertion. In the wake of shocking claims about the gunman's sexuality, Sitora Yusufiy made comments of her own in an interview that back them up. Yusufiy, who was married to Mateen in 2009 for four months, and Marco Dias, to whom she is now engaged, sat down with SBT Brazil TV. There, she opened up about her ex-husband’s alleged past. Speaking in Portuguese on Yusufiy’s behalf, Dias stated that his fiancée believed that Omar Mateen exhibited “homosexual tendencies.” He also claimed that the killer, who shot 49 people dead in an LGBT club on Sunday, was derided as gay in front of her by his father. Yusufiy previously called Mateen abusive and unstable. "When we had gotten married, he confessed to me about his past that was recent at that time," she recalls. "He very much enjoyed going to clubs and the nightlife and there was a lot of pictures of him,” she explained. “I feel like it’s a side of him or a part of him that he lived but probably didn’t want everybody to know about.” When asked if she believed Mateen was gay, Yusufiy responded, “I don’t know," but implicitly commented that it was possible, even likely. "He never personally or even physically made any indication while we were together of that, but he did feel very strongly about homosexuality.” As reported earlier, patrons at Pulse nightclub, where he committed the worst shooting in U.S. history, believe they saw Mateen there regularly. One customer recalled to the Orlando Sentinel: “Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent.” “We didn’t really talk to him a lot, but I remember him saying things about his dad at times. He told us he had a wife and child.” One of the gunman’s former classmates also opened up about his alleged homosexuality, saying he once asked him out “romantically.”

Amber Heard withdrew her request for temporary spousal support

Johnny Depp has been “recuperating on his private island” for about a week now. The Hollywood Vampires’ European tour was over last week, and Depp flew to the private island he bought, years ago, for himself and his family. A source told People Magazine that: “Johnny is doing okay. He likes retreating to his private island whenever he can. He hasn’t been there for a while, and really seems happy being there now… He wants to see his kids, but otherwise he isn’t looking forward to returning [to L.A.]. He doesn’t seem too worried about court though. He has an excellent lawyer who is taking care of things.” [From People] Yeah, I’m so glad we got this important update on how HE feels. People Mag also says that Depp is due back in LA tomorrow, Wednesday, in time for Friday’s restraining order hearing and court appearance. So, we’ve established that Depp is away from LA… so why were his friends removing a bunch of stuff from the apartment Depp once shared with Amber? Yesterday afternoon/evening, Depp’s people began removing items from the LA apartment and Amber Heard’s people called the police. While Depp had permission, from the temporary restraining order, to have some of his items removed, there is some question whether these items fall into that description. Amber Heard’s camp just called the police … claiming Johnny Depp’s people are taking items from his downtown L.A. home in violation of the restraining order she has against him. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ … LAPD officers are responding to a possible violation of a court order. Johnny was ordered to stay 100 yards away from his home with Amber when she got the temporary restraining order. Sources connected to the former couple tell us Johnny himself is not there, but his people are removing things from the walls and taking furniture out of the home. Part of the restraining order includes a “move-out order” … which allows Depp to take personal clothing and belongings needed until Friday’s hearing. Amber’s camp believes his people are overreaching, especially because Johnny is in the Bahamas right now. The insinuation is clear … why the urgency? Sources close to Depp confirm his team is taking “personal items” and they believe it’s within the scope of what the order allows. [From TMZ] Amber was apparently not home either – she’s probably in London, or en route to London right now for her Aquaman/Justice League fittings. Apparently, Depp’s people really were trying to take furniture and bigger items from the apartment but the police officers made them put everything back? And finally, Amber’s lawyers have just filed new paperwork withdrawing Amber’s request for temporary spousal support. Amber doesn’t want to deal with the money side of things at Friday’s hearing, she just wants to deal with the restraining order alone, and deal with spousal support at a later date, probably through the divorce settlement negotiations. Sources tell TMZ that Amber only requested spousal support because she “thought it was standard operating procedure in a divorce case, but now feels Depp’s team is twisting it in the media. In the docs, she says it’s being ‘used against me to distract and divert the public away from the very serious real issue of domestic violence.’” That’s a really smart move, I think.
