Prince Harry admits he didn’t talk about his mother’s death until he was 28

It does feel like I’ve been ignoring Prince Harry, right? I didn’t mean to. It’s just that he’s so consistently awesome these days, and I feel like sometimes you guys might be tired of Honking For Harry. So, what has Harry been up to recently? He’s doing consistent events every week, but he’s not always getting attention and coverage for the events. Over the weekend, he hosted a barbecue for Heads Together, the mental health umbrella organization he started with William and Kate. William and Kate did not attend the BBQ, even though it went down at Kensington Palace. Harry spent a lot of time with mental health care providers and people struggling with mental health issues. Harry even spoke about how he wish he had started talking about his mother’s death much sooner. Prince Harry has revealed that he regrets ‘not talking’ about the death of his mother Princess Diana for much of his life. Speaking with former football star Rio Ferdinand, who lost his wife to cancer last year, Harry, 31, discussed bereavement at a Kensington Palace barbecue for mental health campaign group Heads Together. The young royal discussed the impact the Princess of Wales’ death in 1997, when Harry was 12, has had on him when asked by Ferdinand how he coped with the loss. The prince admitted that it was only three years ago that he began to open up about how he felt about losing his mother, saying he didn’t speak about Diana’s death ‘for the first 28 years of my life.’ He said he’d come to realise that talking was the key: ‘It is OK to suffer, but as long as you talk about it. It is not a weakness. Weakness is having a problem and not recognising it and not solving that problem. A lot of people think if you’ve got a job, if you’ve got financial security, if you’ve got a family, you’ve got a house, all that sort of stuff, everyone seems to think that is all you need and you are absolutely fine to deal with stuff.’ ‘It is very easy for someone to look at someone like Rio Ferdinand and say, “You get paid all the money in the world, you are a successful footballer, you have fast cars.” But at the end of the day his wife was snatched from him at an early stage of his life with her. So of course he is going to suffer, it doesn’t matter if he has an amazing job.’ The prince said the ‘key message’ is that ‘anyone can suffer from mental health problems, whether you’re a member of the Royal Family, whether you’re a soldier, whether you’re a sports star, whether you’re a team sport, individual sport, whether you’re a white van driver, whether you’re a mother, father, a child, it doesn’t really matter. What you’ve had to go through in your day, week, year, (the) experience you’ve had – whether it’s losing a parent, whether it’s depression, whether it’s anxiety, whatever it is – you are actually unbelievably similar to each other in the way you have to deal with it.’ [From The Daily Mail] I just love him. And notice that his message seems contrary to the often-bungled message from the Duchess of Cambridge, who often seems to indicate that mental health issues mostly occur when children don’t have two parents and a home. Harry’s message is universal. And I like how personal he is, talking about his mother and how he closed up and didn’t talk about her death for sixteen years. While talking (and talk therapy) doesn’t solve every mental health problem, it’s the first step and just talking about it and de-stigmatizing mental health issues is a great thing. Christopher Walken’s cats are his kids: ‘I think a lot of people are like that’

We rarely cover Christopher Walken, although the man is a national treasure. He’s just not controversial at all – he seems like a nice guy, everyone loves him, he loves to dance, and as we can see from this Parade cover, he loves cats. He’s promoting a family film called Nine Lives, where he plays a magical pet shop owner. Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner are in the movie too. Weird. Anyway, this whole interview is charming, mostly because he talks about CATS! You can read the full Parade piece here, and here are some highlights: On being a teenage lion tamer: [Sheba, his lioness in a one-ring circus on upstate New York] “was very sweet. She’d walk around and bump up against you leg, just like a nice old cat. I’d wave my whip and she would sit up on her back legs and roll over and do stuff. When we weren’t performing, I used to hang out with her and pet her.” But now he’s against zoos & circuses: “As I get older, I’m very much against zoos and, frankly, animals in captivity. Especially big, wild animals. I wish there wasn’t any such thing as ‘animal acts.’ I wish there wasn’t any such thing as zoos.” His kitty, The Cat: Walken adopted his own feral black-and-white “tuxedo cat” after she showed up on his porch one day—with her babies. “Now I have this basically wild cat that likes to be outside, but she’s friendly. When it gets cold, she comes in.” He calls her simply “the Cat.” And he and Georgianne, who have no children, have always considered their cats as their kids. “I think a lot of people are like that with their pets.” He’s the son of a German immigrant & a Scottish immigrant: “I had a wonderful childhood. Everything: food, house. But my parents didn’t. My parents really did have a hard time where they came from, and they came here and they made this great life. That’s what America is, always and still. I believe people should be able to go and make their lives as they wish. America certainly has always been that for a lot of people. As a kid, I grew up with all sorts of people, different kinds of people. To me, that’s the way it ought to be. Of course, we live in a time of dangerous things. There’s got to be a way around that without making it difficult for everybody.” On his longtime love of cats: “My cats are extremely well taken care of. Frankly, if there’s such a thing as reincarnation, it would be wonderful to come back as my cat. I’m not sure you could do better than that.” [From Parade] But what happened to The Cat’s kittens? Did the Walkens give the kittens away? Or did he bring the kittens inside and now The Cat is the only one who prefers being outside? So many questions. I actually love that he calls his cat The Cat. I did that with my dog too – my (late) puppy had a real name, but I mostly just called him “Puppy” or “Black Dog.” I’m thinking about getting another animal – from a shelter – and I do think I’ll get a cat this time. Kim Zolciak tells daughter, 19, to get lip injections ‘if it makes her happy’

Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kim Zolciak-Biermann and her daughter, Brielle, 19, were spotted at LAX on Tuesday sporting over-inflated lips. Like mother, like daughter, right? The 38-year-old reality star was in Los Angeles to work on the launch of her new skincare line, Kashmere Kollection. While she was there, she paid a visit to her plastic surgeon, Dr. Garo Kassabian. Being the social media monster that she is, Kim documented the trip on Snapchat. Dr. Kassabian is quite the in-demand plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills. Kim could only get in to see him at 9 p.m. on Friday night. As she states numerous times in the video, it’s “only the best, baby” for her. The Daily Mail posted a video of Kim’s L.A. Snapchat adventure and it’s kind of refreshing to see that her videos are just as dull as those from someone not in the public eye. Kim didn’t reveal exactly what happened at the good doctor’s office, but she definitely emerged with noticeably larger lips. Of course, she’s no stranger to going under the knife, telling E! News back in May that she’s had some plastic surgery, including a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. She also thinks it’s okay to not be 100% natural, telling E!: “I will always nip and tuck if I feel the need to do so, but I’m open about it. I don’t care. You only go around one time, and I especially understand that. And life is very short, so there’s no reason for me to lie.” “If I chose a life of reality television, which is an open book, so I share with people what I’ve done. There’s no secrets. I want women to feel as beautiful as I feel, and so, with that said, it’s not all natural. My boobs aren’t natural. I had great boobs until I breastfed Brielle and then they just shriveled up to B raisins. They were horrible. So I must fix them.” LOL!” [From E! News] Kim’s 19-year-old daughter also got a lip tune-up while in L.A., visiting cosmetic dermatologist Simon Ourian. Mama Kim is completely on board with this, telling US Magazine, “She bothered me for five years about her lips. She was like, ‘I hate my lips, I hate my lips.’ So I’m like, then go fix them! You only go around this planet once. If it makes her happy, so be it.” Brielle’s lips are the star of many an Instagram selfie. The struggle is real, people. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand these crazy, puffy fish lips. That’s why God created lip liner. It’s easy to overdraw your lips a little and it’s way cheaper and far less painful. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for a little nip and tuck, and if I hadn’t been so chicken in my 20s, I would have gotten a boob job, but I just can’t with these lips.
