Heidi Klum Marriage Seal

Heidi Klum on renewing her vows to Seal every year: ‘You can’t say I didn’t try’

avalon-0343589705

Heidi Klum was married to her second husband, Seal, for about eight years. Their wedding ceremony at a resort in Costa Careyes Mexico was attended by Heidi, Seal and Heidi’s daughter, Leni, who Seal later adopted. On each anniversary following, they renewed their vows at same resort. The ceremonies grew to include their future children and a guest list that expanded upwards of 50 people. Heidi themed the ceremonies. In 2009, travel to Mexico was restricted due to the H1N1 virus, so the couple hosted their annual renewal at their home in L.A. with a “White Trash” theme. At that point, I many people began to question the point of the renewal, as it seemed they were more an excuse for a party than a true reaffirmation of vows. But Heidi just gave an interview to the Sunday Times in which she said that she was, in fact, trying to preserve their love with each ceremony. Obviously, they didn’t work. The Times article is behind a paywall, but Yahoo has an excerpt.

Officially, Heidi Klum has been married three times: to hairdresser Ric Pipino, then singer Seal, then her current husband, Tokio Hotel rocker Tom Kaulitz. During her marriage to Seal, however, the German supermodel and the “Kiss From a Rose” singer repeatedly renewed their marriage vows each year — but ultimately split in 2012.

“I think I got married eight times to Seal,” Klum, 48, now says of the former couple’s multiple trips to the altar in a new interview with the Sunday Times. “I thought it would be kind of, like, fun. I thought it would be a fest of love. But you know, that doesn’t work either. I tried, you can’t say I didn’t try!”

She admits that over time she began to lose faith in the repeat ceremonies: “Like, ‘This is really not working.’ But I tried.”

Seal, 58, has also addressed the vow renewals, telling Andy Cohen in 2015 that “that was my ex-wife’s idea, to be honest.“

Noting that he “disliked” that the ceremonies were publicized, he added, “It kind of turned into a little bit of a circus, which I wasn’t terribly fond of because, by default, I’m quite a private person.”

[From Yahoo!]

I don’t have an opinion on vow renewals in general. I feel that, like wedding ceremonies, it has to be what they couple wants. I’d have one if my vows were broken and we decided to give it another shot. But that’s how I feel about it right now (I could always change my mind, too). Plenty of couples view them differently and that’s great. Celebrate your relationship however it works best for you. I admit that I got the impression that Heidi and Seal’s renewals were almost a habit after a while, like Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. They didn’t seem to have any sentiment behind them, more fun than anything. So I was surprised to hear Heidi was actually trying to buoy her marriage with them. I wonder if that’s what was behind the themes, to incorporate traditions she found so beautiful she wanted them to bless her marriage in that way. I’d struggle with what her “White Trash” theme brought under that theory, however. But if Seal was, as he claims, against them, then they were doomed to fail from the start. If he told Heidi he didn’t want them public and she went public, that’s not cool of her. If he never told her that at the time, then he’s set her up to fail. Either way, these two were obviously not on the same page.

Jennifer Aniston throws shade on Manic Panic: ‘Pink & green hair could go away’

wenn23746526

Jennifer Aniston gave yet another interview about economic policy, Brexit, international relations and the strength of Euro. Just kidding! She gave an interview about her hair. Aniston is currently promoting Mother’s Day, although you wouldn’t know it from this interview because she’s just shilling (endlessly) for Living Proof, the haircare company she partially owns. There is, I believe, a lot of junky non-science in here. Like, Aniston is about two seconds away from suggesting that women rub healing crystals on their split ends. Some highlights:

Her new favorite haircare product: “The newest, coolest thing I’ve discovered from Living Proof and its scientific world is the Timeless Treatment. It’s a hair color protector. It goes on and looks like a cream conditioner, but you put it onto your hair from the roots down to the tip. You let it sit for five minutes and then shower and shampoo, which activates the product to seal and protect the color. Then you condition. The concept allows you to keep the richness of your color longer. It’s kind of amazing.”

Don’t wash your hair with hot water: “Hot water is never good for your hair or skin, so I wash in warm water. It also depends on what day it is. If I’m working then I usually do wash it, because it has to have continuity, but if I’m not working I try to give my hair a break for as many days as possible. After the gym, if I have to be somewhere, I usually just throw some heat on it to dry the sweat and then do a little dry shampoo and a little Night Cap, and I’m fresh as a daisy. I can last a good three or four days without washing my hair, and all of this stuff just kind of keeps it fresh and alive and smelling great.”

Her workout hairstyle: “I just wrap it up into whatever rubber band or clip I can find and it usually gets thrown on top of my head.”

Her favorite hair trends: “I love a cut from afar, but I’m pretty classic and like to stick to what feels good for me. I don’t usually follow hair trends. I wish I could, but I always feel like I’m trying to be something I’m not. I love seeing these ’70s shags, though. They’re all super cute! And I always love a good highlighted head of hair.”

Her least favorite hair trends: “Pink and green hair could go away. I don’t understand that to be honest, especially the green!

Her hairstylist’s best advice: “His big advice is the less you mess with your hair, the better. Less is more, don’t touch it, don’t wash it every day, and just let it be. That way, it saves up your hair’s energy for when you have to go to work and be on camera and put it under the hot lights and driers and rollers. It’s really just about doing less and using good products to maintain its health.”

Heidi Klum Is Single Again

heidi klum martin kirsten

Well, lads, step right up! Heidi Klum was dating her former bodyguard Martin Kirsten for a few years. The whole thing started just after she split from Seal (OR BEFORE???) and things seemed to be going really well for them. Welp, apparently not because they’re dunzo. Not only is Heidi out a boyfriend now, she’s also out a bodyguard – so you could be up for romance AND potential employment if you fit the bill!

From People:

“Martin was there for her during a time in her life and it was something she will always be grateful for,” says a friend close to Klum.

Kirsten and Klum are also ending their professional relationship.

“They are no longer working together,” another source close to Klum confirms to PEOPLE.

“Life is about timing. He was incredibly supportive and they were there for each other, but they’re moving on now,” adds the source. “They still have a great friendship.”

So, basically the Klum “source” is trying to say that Martin Kirsten was rebound dick and she’s tired of his scruffy ass now and is ready to upgrade. That’s what I’m getting from it, anyway. To be honest, Martin needs to step up his game if he’s gonna be with a supermodel. You gotta get the presentation together – at least take a razor to that hobo facial hair.

Emma Thompson & her mum received honorary doctorates in Scotland: adorable?

I’m sure many of you won’t care about this, but these photos just make me happy. Emma Thompson and her mother, Phyllida Law, were both given honorary doctorates in drama from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow yesterday. Phyllida is beautiful, isn’t she? And Emma too. You can take all of the Kardashians, Bosworths, et al and just leave Emma for me. Emma is one of my favorite people in the world. She’s funny and talented and cool, and her graduate garb is lovely. Unfortunately, Emma’s new honorary doctorate just means that she feels like a fraud:

Emma Thompson has admited feeling like a fraud as she collected an honorary degree in Glasgow alongside her mother Phyllida Law. She said her son quizzed her on how many essays she had actually written for the degree and joked she will now demand to be addressed as doctor.

The acting duo were awarded honorary doctorates in drama from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) in Glasgow and later posed for photos in their graduation robes and signed autographs for fans. Nanny McPhee star Thompson won an Oscar for her lead role in 1992′s Howards End and a second Academy Award in 1996 for best adapted screenplay for Sense And Sensibility.

The pair have starred in several films together, including The Winter Guest, but sharing a stage at the RCS graduation topped the bill.

Thompson said: “We’ve not received anything like this before and we both feel slightly fraudulent because when I told my son he asked ‘how many essays did you have to [write] to get that?’ So we feel really lucky that we now get to put ‘doctor’ in front of our names and pretend we’re important. We’ve both had so much work as actors and are still working so to get a degree for it is great. I suppose in a sense it’s a reward for hanging in there. So many actors fall by the wayside so maybe this is recognition because we’re still going.”

Law joked: “It’s certainly not for our looks. It’s a dreadful mistake to be born exquisitely beautiful because it wears off by 28. Thankfully we didn’t need to worry about that.”

Law, who was born in Glasgow and was married to actor Eric Thompson from 1957 until his death in 1982, has appeared in many documentaries and interviews concerning her late husband’s narration on The Magic Roundabout and was in the original London cast of La Cage Aux Folles at London Palladium. The 81-year-old will receive a second degree when she becomes honorary doctor of letters from Glasgow Caledonian University later in the week.

“It’s great fun to be able to do this together, much better than collecting it on your own. And to get it in Glasgow is great,” Law said. “It’s quite silly that I’m getting another one but it means I’ll have two and Emma will be in the audience this time to see me.”

Thompson is married to Royal Conservatoire alumnus Greg Wise and said she is delighted to keep up the family tradition, even if her husband is not.

“Greg graduated from here in the 80s or 90s and he’s fit to be dead and spitting feathers at home because he had to do so much work and exams to get his degree and we just had to turn up to become doctors.”

The honours for the mother and daughter see them join the likes of singer Annie Lennox, comedian Billy Connolly and actor Tilda Swinton, who have all received honorary doctorates from the Conservatoire, previously the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Also receiving honorary doctorates were opera singer Patricia MacMahon and Jenny Sealy, a producer for the London 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony.

[From The Telegraph]

Emma is so English! That interview was a study in how not to take yourself too seriously, which should be make the list of “Very British Problems”. Anyway, I always forget that Emma’s husband Greg Wise is so Scotland-friendly. I believe he’s part Scottish, he went to school in Scotland, and when he and Emma married, he wore a traditional kilt. Sigh… I love them. I love Emma most of all.

PS… You better comment on this post if you want more stories about Emma rather than the Kardashians!

Leonardo DiCaprio wants to play Russian mystic Rasputin in a possible bio-pic

Here are even more photos of Leonardo DiCaprio at the French Open over the weekend. I think Leo just went from the South of France to Paris after the Cannes Film Festival. And why not? He’s on holiday. And he seems to love tennis. I’m trying to figure out if the lady beside him is Toni Garrn. Toni is definitely in France with him – Leo took Toni to Versailles last week and there were (blurry) photos. So is this Toni beside him? I can’t tell. I know that Lucas Haas is on the other side. Of course.

In a weird turn of events, there’s news about a possible/probably project for Leo. Yes, he’s “taking a break” right now, but he’s also thinking ahead for what his next project will be a year from now or whenever. And that project is… a possible bio-pic of Rasputin?! In case you’re not familiar with Rasputin, his life story is straight-up cray. He was like a real-life wizard/magician and he worked for the last Czar and Czarina of Russia, Nicholas and Alexandra. Yes, I watch the History Channel. Rasputin’s life is fascinating, and it will be interesting to see how this could possibly translate on film:

Warner Bros has acquired Rasputin, a pitch by American Sniper scribe Jason Hall that will be developed for Leonardo DiCaprio to play the Russian mystic who became an advisor to the Russian Imperial family the Romanovs. Embraced by Tsar Nicholas II and Alexandra as a healer for their only son, Tsarevich Alexei, who secretly suffered from hemophilia, Rasputin’s influence with the family in all matters grew to the point that rivals tried several times to kill him, finally succeeding in 1916. The film will be produced by Langley Park’s Kevin McCormick, by DiCaprio’s Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Peter Morgan, who’s a producer on the Hall-scripted adaptation of American Sniper, which Steven Spielberg will direct with Bradley Cooper playing Navy SEAL elite sniper Chris Kyle.

This will become the blind script commitment I wrote that Hall had made at Warner Bros, this coming after that studio and DreamWorks teaming up on American Sniper. The screenwriter is also in early talks to adapt as a possible Spielberg project the David Finkel book Thank You For Your Service, about the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder syndrome that is becoming a major issue for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

There have been numerous movies made about Rasputin and the controversial role he played in the Russian court, but there were new elements here unearthed by Hall that sparked DiCaprio’s interest and gave psychological depth to the so called “mad monk.” To his enemies, he was a charlatan who prolifically bedded women, possibly including the Tsar’s wife. DiCaprio liked the complicated elements of a child who lost the better part of himself when his brother died, and was capable of kindness but also a ruthlessness. Rasputin, who earlier had survived being stabbed, was shot, strangled, shot again, all in one night, and finally drowned when thrown into the icy Neva River.

[From Deadline]

What’s interesting to me is that there actually is a likeness between Leo and Rasputin – go here to see a photo of Rasputin. He was not an attractive man and he had haunting (and haunted) eyes. I know I should be yelling about this, but I am genuinely fascinated by the idea of Leo playing him. Am I wrong in thinking that Leo might actually be able to pull it off?
