Jillian Michaels: “When you care more you train harder and eat better”

On why she’s so committed to working out and being healthy: I’m a 42-year-old. I still like skinny jeans. I still prefer a two-piece instead of a one-piece, but now I have two young kids. So for me, I want to be skiing down the mountain alongside my kids instead of waiting at the bottom for them. I want to see their children graduate from college. I want to meet my grandchildren’s children. These are my whys. On aging and why she’s in better shape now than she was in her 20s: I care more, and when you care more you train harder and eat better. People believe that aging is this slow descent into decrepitude. That’s not true. When people say, “Oh, I’m 40 now, and this is happening to me and that’s happening to me,” it’s the cumulative effect of years of neglect, which—by the way—can still be turned around. On why she thinks there’s too much pressure on women to get back to their pre-pregnancy bodies: I was just talking to someone who was breast-feeding and already on a diet. I was like, “Dude, you’ve got to chill. If you start dropping more than two pounds a week, you’re going to compromise your milk supply.” The reality is that you can bounce back better than ever, but time frames vary for everyone. Everybody and every pregnancy is different. If it takes you a year, who cares? Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher Welcome Second Child!

Congratulations are very much in order for Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. The beloved couple has welcomed its second child into the world! Hooray! Huzzah! So totally awesome, right? A representative for the actress and actor has confirmed that Kunis gave birth to a boy on November 30, although that is the only detail made known to the public at the moment. We’ll let you know as soon as a name and/or any measurement intel is release. The newborn joins two-year old sister Wyatt Isabelle as offspring of Kunis and Kutcher, who have done an admirable job of keeping their first child shielded from the spotlight. Good luck finding photos of Wyatt anywhere online. It’s almost as if Kunis and Kutcher care more about their little girl’s privacy and well-being than any attention or money they could earn off her existence. Weird, right? It’s safe to assume this will also be the case for the couple’s son. But while we don’t know a great deal about their kids, we do know that Kunis and Kutcher positively adore parenthood. “The one topic of conversation we had even prior to ever having kids was always, ‘How do you raise a child to not be an asshole?’ ” Kunis said in August, adding: “It’s a matter of teaching them from a very early age that, you know, ‘Mommy and Daddy may have a dollar, but you’re poor.'” There was also the time Kutcher appeared opposite Ellen DeGeneres and simply gushed over Kunis as a mother. And we mean GUSHED. “She’s the greatest mom I can’t even… like I go to work every day and I come home and she’s like perfect. And it just seems like everything went amazing,” the actor said two years ago. “And I know that something probably didn’t go amazing, but she never tells… it’s unbelievable. She’s incredible.” Kutcher and Kunis have also drawn praise for not hiring a nanny to help child rear, a decision Kutcher explained in that same interview thusly: “We just want to know our kid,. We want to be the people that know what to do when the baby’s crying to make the baby not cry anymore. “We want to know, like when she makes a little face or something we want to be emotionally in touch with her and I think the only way to do that is by being the one who’s there.” Such a simple way of putting it, and yet such a spot-on explanation. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Welcomed Babies in 2016 Kunis and Kutcher got married in July of 2015, months after becoming first-time parents. They confirmed that they were expecting again in June, with Kutcher spilling the gender beans during a chat this fall with Savanna Guthrie on NBC. “I’m a little terrified to be honest,” Kutcher admitted to The Today Show host, smiling and confessing: “It’s intensely scary.” Two kids instead of one? We’re sure it is. That’s, like, twice as many children as they had before. Talk about a challenge! As for the name of their son? Go ahead and take a guess.  As for photos of their son? Do not go ahead and hold your breath awaiting some to be released. That would be a dangerous game to play.

Gisele Bundchen’s Approach to Halloween Candy

Supermodel queen Gisele Bundchen is known for opting for a very restrictive diet, one that is mostly raw and void of sugar. The mom of two implements almost the same diet when it comes to her kids, which is why she is very much against Halloween candy. More details on this story from People Magazine: Forget eating her kids’ Halloween candy, Gisele Bündchen not only didn’t steal any of her children’s haul, but she gave it all away! The supermodel mom made an appearance at the grand opening of the Under Armour Boston Brand House in the Prudential Center on Wednesday evening, and explained that son Benjamin and daughter Vivian (who dressed as Mario and a pony, respectively) were so uninterested in their Halloween haul, they let their mom give it away. “We don’t really have that a kind of sugar in our house,” Bündchen told PEOPLE. “I let them try one (piece), but they really only had one bite and then they didn’t want it anymore. So I told them if they didn’t like it I was going to give it away to other kids and they actually let me give their candy away,” she added of her and Tom Brady‘s kids. But don’t feel bad for Bündchen’s kids; they still get to eat dessert every day. “It’s a little different kind of sweets, so they’re not used to it,” said Bündchen. “I said to them, ‘You know, there are so many kids that don’t get candy and you guys got so many, some kids don’t even get one! And they’re like, ‘Oh mom, okay you can give it to them if they don’t get any.’” What do you think of Gisele’s very restrictive diet approach? Kate Upton: “It was considered a great thing to have a curvy body to fill out a bathing suit”

On whether she always wanted to model: I knew nothing about fashion growing up, because in Florida you just wear bikinis and flip-flops. But kids can be cruel, and they used to make fun of me for having long legs and bushy eyebrows. My mom would flip through magazines and say, “Look, all these models have that too.” So I decided I wanted to be a model. On whether she was ever told to lose weight: All. The. Time. At first I tried to diet to become their image, but eventually I realized that it wasn’t realistic—that this is just the shape of my body. So I had to block them out. I think that the people who are the loudest about wanting to change you are the people with the least amount of vision and creativity. On people saying she doesn’t have the right look: Where I grew up, it was considered a great thing to have a curvy body to fill out a bathing suit. For that to be a negative was so confusing to me. And besides, when I started working, I was booked constantly, mostly for catalog work. So when people were saying, “Oh, she doesn’t have the right look for a model,” I thought, Then why am I working every single day? There are so many different directions you can take in the modeling industry, so many ways to be successful. … says Kate in Glamour. See more! Jennifer Lopez: “I love the way working out makes me feel”

On working out: I love the way working out makes me feel, so I try to keep my body hydrated and well rested after every workout so I’m ready to hit it hard again the next day. I drink plenty of water, fuel my body with healthy foods and make it a priority to get eight hours of sleep a night. I also love to relax with my kids after a workout and share a healthy snack with them! On her skin: Washing my face after training is essential. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy. Then I’ll usually put on moisturizer and sunscreen and maybe just a little make-up if I’m going out, or a moisturizer and eye cream if it’s the evening. … says 47 year-old Jennifer. Mila Kunis: ‘I’m hoping that Wyatt will learn that the word ‘want’ is not necessary’

Mila Kunis is pregnant with her second child, having welcomed daughter Wyatt into the world back in 2014. Even when she was pregnant the first time, Mila often talked about how she didn’t want her children to grow up to be a—holes, meaning that she doesn’t want to raise “Hollywood kids” with access to anything and everything. She wants to raise polite children who get told “no” a lot, because that’s how she was raised. Personally, I think there’s a 50-50 shot at the kids being a—holes anyway, just because of genetics and those kids are half-Kutcher. I also think Mila Kunis might want to check her ‘tude sometimes because she’s come across as an a—hole a few times, and kids learn it from watching their parents. So as Mila was promoting her new film, Bad Moms, Mila talked more about her parenting method. Mila Kunis is determined to keep her children grounded. The Bad Moms star opened up about her fear of raising a child “who is going to be an a-hole” during an AOL Build session in New York City on Wednesday. “I don’t want to be the person who is responsible for putting that into the world,” the 32-year-old confessed. “My one thing that I’ve always said is I just want my children to have empathy in life. I want my kids to be good kids.” And just to be safe, the Ukrainian-born actress — who shares daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher with husband Ashton Kutcher and is expecting their second child — already has a master plan to avoid raising self-entitled kids in Hollywood. “I figured I’m just going to lie. I feel like that is going to be my tactic. Until the kids are old enough to like search on the Internet, which I feel like I can buy myself a couple of years, I’m just going to go, ‘Mommy and daddy are poor,’” she revealed. “They’re just going to have to suck it up because too bad that’s how I grew up, except we were poor, but it worked!” Mila, who plays the fed up mom in the upcoming movie, added, “My kid will never know what it’s like to not have fresh fruit. My kid will never know what it’s like to not have electricity… I learned at a very early age to not say the word ‘want.’ That was out of my vocabulary. It just didn’t exist, and so I’m hoping that Wyatt one day will learn that the word ‘want’ is not necessary.” [From Hello] Thoughts? It reminds me that she really was brought up with a refugee-mentality. It also reminds me a little bit of Malcolm Gladwell’s books, where he tends to argue that the kids brought up with every advantage in life are often the biggest losers. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Mila has been reading David and Goliath or Outliers, actually. Long-term, of course “telling the kids that we’re poor” won’t last, but hopefully she’ll be able to teach them that “wanting” something is different than needing something. Wanting something is also different than deserving something or earning something. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet and WENN.

Christopher Walken’s cats are his kids: ‘I think a lot of people are like that’

We rarely cover Christopher Walken, although the man is a national treasure. He’s just not controversial at all – he seems like a nice guy, everyone loves him, he loves to dance, and as we can see from this Parade cover, he loves cats. He’s promoting a family film called Nine Lives, where he plays a magical pet shop owner. Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Garner are in the movie too. Weird. Anyway, this whole interview is charming, mostly because he talks about CATS! You can read the full Parade piece here, and here are some highlights: On being a teenage lion tamer: [Sheba, his lioness in a one-ring circus on upstate New York] “was very sweet. She’d walk around and bump up against you leg, just like a nice old cat. I’d wave my whip and she would sit up on her back legs and roll over and do stuff. When we weren’t performing, I used to hang out with her and pet her.” But now he’s against zoos & circuses: “As I get older, I’m very much against zoos and, frankly, animals in captivity. Especially big, wild animals. I wish there wasn’t any such thing as ‘animal acts.’ I wish there wasn’t any such thing as zoos.” His kitty, The Cat: Walken adopted his own feral black-and-white “tuxedo cat” after she showed up on his porch one day—with her babies. “Now I have this basically wild cat that likes to be outside, but she’s friendly. When it gets cold, she comes in.” He calls her simply “the Cat.” And he and Georgianne, who have no children, have always considered their cats as their kids. “I think a lot of people are like that with their pets.” He’s the son of a German immigrant & a Scottish immigrant: “I had a wonderful childhood. Everything: food, house. But my parents didn’t. My parents really did have a hard time where they came from, and they came here and they made this great life. That’s what America is, always and still. I believe people should be able to go and make their lives as they wish. America certainly has always been that for a lot of people. As a kid, I grew up with all sorts of people, different kinds of people. To me, that’s the way it ought to be. Of course, we live in a time of dangerous things. There’s got to be a way around that without making it difficult for everybody.” On his longtime love of cats: “My cats are extremely well taken care of. Frankly, if there’s such a thing as reincarnation, it would be wonderful to come back as my cat. I’m not sure you could do better than that.” [From Parade] But what happened to The Cat’s kittens? Did the Walkens give the kittens away? Or did he bring the kittens inside and now The Cat is the only one who prefers being outside? So many questions. I actually love that he calls his cat The Cat. I did that with my dog too – my (late) puppy had a real name, but I mostly just called him “Puppy” or “Black Dog.” I’m thinking about getting another animal – from a shelter – and I do think I’ll get a cat this time.
