Cincinnati Zoo Parents May Be Charged in Connection to Gorilla Shooting

The fallout from this weekend’s tragic shooting at the Cincinnati Zoo continues. As previously documented, and as depicted in the video below, a four-year old boy fell into the gorilla enclosure at this famous facility on Saturday, May 28. After the gigantic animals grabbed hold of the boy and started thrashing him about, officials were left with no choice but to have an employee fatally shoot the gorilla, who was 17 years old and named Harambe. Was the animal protecting the toddler? Hurting him? About to cause him real harm? Watch the surveillance footage and try to decipher for yourself: Cincinnati Zoo Gorilla Killed to Save Toddler’s Life: Who’s to Blame? Debate has raged all over the Internet in regard to the incident, with critics wondering why the zoo could not simply use a tranquilizer on the gorilla. The zoo has responded by saying the tranquilizer would have taken too long to go into effect. Others have placed the blame squarely at the feet of the boy’s parents, specifically his mother, Michelle Gregg. In response to the criticism she has received online, Gregg posted (and then deleted) a Facebook message that referred to the situation as an “accident” and which thanked God for keeping her son safe. Celebrities from all walks of entertainment life have also weighed in on the death of Harambe: View Slideshow: Harambe Mourned, Celebrated by Celebrities Everywhere Now, sources have confirmed that Cincinnati police are looking into Gregg and Deonne Dickerson, the boy’s father, even though the latter was not at the zoo when his son fell into the gorilla pit.  Authorities are reportedly reviewing “the actions of the parents/family that led up to the incident,” according to TMZ, implying they may be charged with the crime of negligence. Do you think they ought to be? Or was this just a very unfortunate accident that has taken on a life of its own due to the Internet? An insider also says the Zoo is NOT under investigation of any kind. It falls under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of Agriculture.

George Zimmerman Sells Gun Used to Kill Trayvon Martin for Disgustingly Large Sum

Last week, it was widely reported that murderous professional Internet troll and sentient colon polyp George Zimmerman planned to auction off the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin. In a description he posted on the United Gun Group’s website, Zimmerman described the weapon as a “piece of American history” because that’s a normal way to view the gun used to kill a teenager – if, of course, you were born to bring evil into the world, a la Viggo the Carpathian from Ghostbusters II. Zimmerman opened the bidding at $5,000. Proving that there’s still some good in the world, the auction quickly became so overwhelmed with fake bids that the UGG’s website crashed. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to halt the sale of the weapon, as the site continued to host the auction, just with a complex email verification process in place of its usual login. It’s partially because of the increased security that we don’t know exactly how much the gun sold for, but TMZ is reporting that the auction netted Zimmerman a nauseating $120,000. And what will he use the money for? Well, if you know anything about Zimmerman, you won’t be surprised to learn that he’s donating the proceeds to legal groups that fight against the Black Lives Matter movement and anti-Hillary Clinton Super PACs. Clearly a man with no politically- or racially-charged axe to grind whatsoever. And for those who don’t know much about Zimmerman, we recommend you take a gander at what he’s been up to in the years since his controversial murder trial. Highlights include hitting his girlfriend with a wine bottle and initiating more unecessary gunplay because we imagine if you could see the world through George Zimmerman’s eyes, it would look like a first-person shooter game. There are rumors that a famous figure (some say Kendrick Lamar) purchased the gun just to destroy it. We’d like to believe that, but it seems too good to be true. We hate to sound cynical, but sometimes in life, evil simply triumphs over good. Case in point – George Zimmerman walks the streets as a free man. Pres. Obama’s final WH Correspondents Dinner: hilarious or bittersweet?

Embed from Getty Images President Barack Obama attended his final White House Correspondents Dinner last night, and as is usually the case, he was much funnier than the comedian guest. I enjoyed last year’s comedian, SNL’s Cecily Strong, but I could see how Larry Wilmore would be a good choice for Obama’s final WHCD. While Wilmore had some strong jokes – the childlike glee of the “Zodiac Killer” line was genuinely a favorite – Wilmore’s reception was pretty mixed and he misread the room at times. We’ll have more coverage and photos from the event tomorrow, I just wanted to post the speeches today. As for Obama, he just had so many great one-liners about Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Ted Cruz, Michelle, his presidency and more. Around the 24-minute mark of this video is the special video the White House made called “Couch Commander” about what he’s going to do in DC post-presidency. Yeah… I’m going to miss Obama so much when he leaves office. No matter who wins the presidency, I’m really just going to miss him. We had a “cool” president, a funny president, but even more than that: we had a smart, compassionate, even-tempered president. And here’s Larry Wilmore’s bit. He made a lot of “black jokes” and he even used the n-word at the end of his speech. It made me uncomfortable, but Obama rolled with it. Michelle Obama looked amazing in this golden, glittery Givenchy! The president is right, she hasn’t aged a day in eight years. The Walking Dead finale: who met Lucille and who was safe? (spoilers)

Spoilers from last night’s finale of The Walking Dead Last night’s hour and a half finale of The Walking Dead seemed to epitomize all that was wrong with this season. There was a lot of filler and some genuinely tense moments, but it ended on a cliffhanger that left fans frustrated. At the end we got to see Negan, the big bad from the Saviors, played by the incredible Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He was definitely scary but more of a sympathetic character than I was expecting. Negan’s long speech to the crouching Alexandrites made sense to me. I especially liked how he explained that this was retribution for killing his men. “When I sent my people to kill your people for killing my people, you killed more of my people. Not cool.” He also said that he didn’t want to kill them, he just wanted them to work for him, which again sounded reasonable in context. As Morgan explained on Talking Dead afterwards, Rick’s people had killed over 20 Saviors, so Negan selecting just one person to kill was in no way extreme. The ending looked extreme to viewers though, especially when we were given just a few clues as to whom Negan actually killed. I can’t believe producers used that cheap tactic, yet again, after leaving Glenn’s fate up in the air for several episodes earlier this season. During the final scene at first I thought that Negan had selected Carl to kill, but he was actually instructing his men to cut out Carl’s eye and feed it to Rick if anyone tried to stop him. That means that Carl and Rick are safe. Highlight the text below to see speculative spoilers from the comics: In the comics, Glenn meets his end here, but we know that WD producers don’t follow the comics and Glenn was at the end of the line. It looked like Negan selected someone more in the middle. It may have been Abraham, who died earlier in the comics from a crossbow to the head by the Saviors. Denise died on the show in the same way that Abraham died in the comics, so producers may have subbed Abraham’s death for Glenn’s here. The rest of last night’s episode was just ok. I’m beginning to feel sorry for Morgan (the character, played by Lennie James), because his entire story arc with Carol just felt like filler. Morgan’s otherwise interesting backstory took up an entire episode earlier this season when we were waiting to hear what happened to Glenn. (Incidentally, that episode was also written by Scott M. Gimple, who was responsible for this one. Eff that guy.) Carol looked to be mortally injured when we last saw her, but Morgan and Carol coincidentally then ran into a couple of good looking nice guys in padded costumes. That seemed mildly ridiculous to me, like of course they’re going to fix up Carol and they’re going to be allies. Also ridiculous: father Gabriel being put in charge of Alexandria like he’s some trustworthy badass now when he’s always been a sniveling backstabber. As for the fate of Maggie’s pregnancy, I only hope that she doesn’t die. I’m not too concerned either way. Another baby would only be a liability in this universe. During Talking Dead, producer and this episode’s writer Scott Gimple very meekly explained the non-end. “The end of the story is what people saw and when we reveal who was on the receiving end, that’s going to be the start of another story… the effects from that.” He explained that he wanted viewers to feel suspense and terror like the core characters and that “We’re going to deliver you a story next season that justifies it.” Comic creator Robert Kirkman also said that he loved cliffhangers and defended it by saying “The cliffhanger isn’t the story.” He explained that the story was more about Rick’s transformation from being in charge to being beat down. It’s not like this blockbuster show is going to lose viewership if they wrap up lose ends. They don’t need to bait us to get us to watch next season. photos credit: AMC

Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ??? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 13, 2016 at 5:06pm PDT Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco told Ellen last month that she thought 2016 was going to be a “much better year” and it seems that romantically, it’s shaping up that way. The animal-loving actress has been spending quite a bit of time with equestrian Karl Cook. Kaley, 30, and Karl, 25, were spotted taking in a tennis match together a few weeks ago in California and she has posted photos with him on Instagram, like the one she posted two weeks ago, congratulating Karl on winning a competition. The caption read, “Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ?? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ?.” Couple selfies? Emojis? Horses? This could be love. Karl not only is a skilled equestrian, he also comes from good stock, as my Mom would say. His father, Scott Cook, founded the tax software firm Intuit, which created QuickBooks and TurboTax, and is valued at $2 billion. Not too shabby. And he’s a cutie to boot. Good on you, Kaley. Kaley posted a cute #tbt photo on her Instagram yesterday canoodling on the beach with Karl with the caption “We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick.” #tbt We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick ??☀️? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 31, 2016 at 12:24pm PDT Kaley also posted a picture with Karl on the shooting range where, instead of a kiss, Karl put his tongue on her forehead. For me, this is so much yes – but I love to shoot guns and adore men with that offbeat sense of humor. ? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 25, 2016 at 5:14pm PDT I know Kaley may be a little… impetuous in love (by the way, does anyone know whatever happened with Paul Blackthorne?), but I think she and Karl make a cute couple. I’m also glad she didn’t end up with Sam Hunt, because that means I might still have a crack at him! Oh, and Kaley, if you’re reading this, no relationship-significant tattoos, okay? Instagram photos can be deleted, tattoos cannot. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Photo credit: Getty Images, WENN.com, Instagram/Kaley Cuoco
