I’m always worried that interesting, fun gossip is going to fall off a cliff when we get to the sultry summer months, but for several years now, we’ve had some great “summer stories.” This summer’s amazing Tiddlebanging is the big story, but I think we’re also going to get a lot of pap stroll photos of Kim Kardashian this summer because she’s lost all of her pregnancy weight and she wants people to look at her body. And that’s always fun, because Kim’s style just gets worse and worse. These are photos of Kim in Malibu with her BFF Jonathan Cheban yesterday. Kim’s ensemble is a DISASTER. And it was glorious. Kim wore a matchy cowgirl look from Peter Dundas at Roberto Cavalli. Kim-In-Cavalli is the new “Kim in Balmain.” And while I appreciate the fact that a curvy girl like Kim can wear some major designers, she never really looks good in those clothes, probably because those clothes were designed for tall, leggy, curveless women. What bugs me about this look is the WASH. The light acid-wash denim looks so, so bad. I can’t believe we ever thought that denim wash looked good. Meanwhile, it really does look like the #TaylorSwiftPartyIsOver, especially for the Kardashian-Wests. In an upcoming episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim is going to talk about the Taylor Swift-“Famous” controversy. Kim tells her mother “I did an interview with GQ,” referencing this interview. Taylor Swift’s relationship with Tom Hiddleston is nothing more than a contrived publicity stunt, a source close to the British actor tells THG. Moreover, Hiddleston now regrets ever going along with it. We have omitted certain details such as the friend’s name, the London neighborhood in which he lives, and the pub in which he met Tom. While we believe the below account to be accurate, this is to protect our source’s identify for fear of retribution from Taylor Swift’s Squad. Kidding. Yet not really. Within the past seven days, this friend divulged to our source details surrounding the actor’s romance with a certain American pop star. Details suggesting, as we have theorized numerous times in the last few weeks, that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s romance is fake. Not just flaunting it a little extra for the paparazzi, either. We’re talking full on arranged by publicists, staged kissing photos levels of fake. How so? Let’s begin. This friend, who describes Tom as “a pleasant guy who is very talkative, charming, and humble,” passed this along within the last seven days: “Tom and Taylor’s relationship was initially set up by Taylor’s PR team after they bumped into each other at Anna Wintour’s house-party.” This was fueled in large part by “Taylor’s desire to stay relevant within the public eye until she decides to release her next album.” Given “Tom’s attempt to become James Bond,” and his involvement in Thor, Hiddleston was a prime target for Swift’s managers. Did Hiddleston balk at this? Of course, however, “she is a beautiful, successful, and a generally lovely girl,” so … he ran with it: “Tom was prepared to go along with it because he believed that he and Taylor would be able to find something in common with each other.” “At least have some fun together. It worked, and whilst he does care about Taylor, he is now beginning to realize that he may have made a mistake.” Most notably, our source hilariously adds, “after she insisted upon them meeting each other’s parents within the space of twenty four hours.” LOL. That would be a red flag for most guys, even those agreeing to a fake relationship. Talk about going from 0-100, REAL QUICK! “Taylor is practically glued to his side,” our insider adds. “After only one month of dating, she is talking about moving in with him, getting married, and having children with him.” “Tom has always had huge commitment issues, so Taylor talking to him about those things, and after such a short amount of time, is really beginning to freak him out.” “He thought that he could handle the paparazzi intrusion, but he’s becoming tired of Taylor’s insistence that their every move is photographed by somebody.” “He misses some of the anonymity that he had.” “Tom is well aware of what people, such as his fans, his friends, and even his own family, have been saying about him.” “But because he isn’t as used to the public scrutiny as Taylor is, he is finding it very difficult,” his friend laments. “He has always been passionate about his acting, and he wants that to be what he is known for, not ‘Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.'” “He feels like he has become a laughing stock, and it’s getting him down. Everything with Taylor is choreographed.” “He feels like he has no choice but to adhere to her demands because he knows how much influence she has (her break up albums and the such).” “He didn’t get with Taylor with the intention of having anything long term (the previous sources regarding him wanting to ‘have fun’ and ‘blow off some steam’ [are] correct).” “But being under the spotlight and knowing who Taylor is makes it difficult for him … he’s beginning to feel like he has no choice (such as her deciding to go to Australia with him).” How will this play out? Taylor memorably and notably got a boob job back in 2012. I remember that story, because I felt like a boob-job investigator, going through months of photos to try and determine when the boob job happened. My guess is still April 2012 for the first boob job. And over the years, her boob job had a sort of wonky look, depending on her bra or top. Sometimes they looked hard and very LeAnn Rimes-esque, let’s say. But I strongly suspect that a few months ago, Taylor went away and got another boob job. I think she went up a cup size and/or fixed some bad work. What’s weird is that people are just now noticing that Swifty is not all-natural. Page Six ran this Forever 21 Instagram (above) of Taylor in their bikini, and wondered aloud if Taylor really has been enhanced. Yes. She is. She has been enhanced for more than four years. And now she’s re-enhanced. But according to Taylor Swift’s unnamed friends (her publicist), Taylor’s breasts are completely untouched. It’s the question that’s been floating around for a bit of time now: Did Taylor Swift get breast implants? After being photographed while out and about lately with Tom Hiddleston and then again most recently during her Fourth of July party— rocking a very flattering America bikini top—people couldn’t help but notice something a little, er, bigger about her chest, automatically assuming the country-turned-pop singer went under the knife. Well, sorry to burst your bubbles (or silicon dreams), but a source tells E! News she did not get a boob job and any rumors surrounding that idea are totally false. In fact, another source tells us Taylor has “always liked her breasts.” The insider explained that she “likes the fact she can go bra-less and have them still be perky.” [From E! News] Er, they’re perky because they’re man-made! I mean, props to Taylor for getting implants the correct size for her frame, but let’s be honest: they are implants. Absolutely. But I think it’s absolutely hilarious that Taylor is so controlling and obsessive that it bothers her to know that we’re sitting out here, talking about her boob job. That’s why this E! News story happened – because Taylor reads the comments. She reads the tweets. She reads the Tiddlesbanging coverage. Hey, girl! I think your boob job looks really nice now. Forgive me for missing this story when it came out yesterday but in my defense these Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner stories start to run together after a while. It’s like the same story every few days with some minor tweaks. I guess we have to give them credit for sticking to message, which they’re hammering home. On the Fourth of July Ben Affleck and his maybe not-so-estranged wife, Jennifer Garner, were seen out together at a Fourth of July Parade with three of their children. You can see those photos here at the Daily Mail. The kids are dressed in red, white and blue but Ben is wearing a black t-shirt like he can’t be bothered and Jen is in a white sleeveless shirt with a black jacket over it. How hard is it to find something blue or red to wear on the Fourth of July? Maybe nothing is fitting Ben right. Just like last week, this week there’s another story in People about how these two are “making it work”. Instead of Jen being “adamant” about divorcing though, it now sounds like she’s given in and that she’s not going to push it. It’s been just over one year since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced their plans to split and during that time the two have maintained a close relationship – and still haven’t filed divorce papers. So what’s really going on? They’re still figuring things out,” a Garner friend tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “Ben still doesn’t want the divorce and he might actually get his way.” While the former couple have downplayed reconciliation rumors over the past year, they have continued living together, going on weekend outings with their kids and even vacationing as a family. This spring, Garner and their three children, Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4, moved to London for several weeks with Affleck, sharing a rented house and sightseeing in Europe while the actor filmed Justice League. “She had the best time in Europe with Ben and the kids,” says her friend. “She seemed much happier when she returned to L.A. Jen went from being very adamant that a divorce would happen to instead avoiding any divorce talk.” [From People] People’s cover features the story of kidnapping survivor Jaycee Dugard, I remember that so well and am glad she’s doing well, and Ben and Jen got an inset to the upper right. This is not the first time they’ve had a sidebar on the cover since their split – they were on the Kelly Ripa cover in May. Of course Ben and Jen got two People covers last summer, in July and August, when they split. Isn’t that what this is all about? Informing us of their daily mood changes so that we’ll keep covering them? It works, and people are interested. It’s kind of fascinating to watch, especially since Ben looks so emotionally checked out in paparazzi photos (to be fair maybe he just hates the paparazzi) with his family but still insists on keeping his marriage. It’s like he doesn’t want to be with Jen but doesn’t want to let her go, either. For what it’s worth she seems ok with it, if only because she wants her family together. For those of you who believe in ring watch – neither Ben nor Jen is wearing their wedding rings. I think Jen first took hers off last August, because she told the press all about it. Variety critic writes about Renee Zellweger’s face & now everybody’s mad

Last week, the second full-length trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby dropped. I didn’t cover it because A) I didn’t think people would care and B) I found the second trailer even more depressing than the first trailer. While I am excited to see Renee Zellweger return to a celebrated and beloved role, as I see more of the plot, my excitement dies a little bit. I just think baby-daddy hijinks for a woman in her mid-to-late 40s is a bit much, honestly. Out of all the plot lines, they chose that? I understand that they’re basing it off Helen Fielding’s columns, but maybe they shouldn’t have waited so many years to make this one? Here’s the second trailer: So, yes, I have some complaints. At the heart of those complaints is just plain old disappointment though: the first Bridget Jones movie is as close to perfect as possible. It is arguably one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time. Renee was so good in it that she got an Oscar nom! But 15 years later, we’re getting this mess. And when one critic – Variety’s Owen Gleiberman – expressed his disappointment, he got into a world of trouble. Gleiberman wrote a piece called “Renee Zellweger: If She No Longer Looks Like Herself, Has She Become a Different Actress?” You can read the piece here. It’s supposed to be a “think-piece” about how Zellweger has changed her face so drastically that she’s no longer believable as Bridget Jones, and this guy is personally offended by that. He goes on at length about the pressures of society, and how Zellweger used to be pretty in a normal, believable, girl-next-door sort of way but now she doesn’t look like herself because of her very noticeable plastic surgery and he just goes on and on about it. So, obviously, Owen Gleiberman got slammed all over the place for being sexist and ageist. If we’re saying that this dude never would have written a long-winded, body-policing think-piece about how Russell Crowe is no longer believable as a leading man because of how HE looks and how HE is ageing, I can see that point, and I agree with it. That is sexist and ageist if we’re just going to go on and on about only the actresses. But… I also think that Gleiberman had a (albeit minor) point? If actors and actresses want to drastically change their looks through plastic surgery, so be it. Live and let live, and your body, your choice. But of course people are going to comment. And some of us even made similar comments when we first saw the set photos of Renee-as-Bridget, that “she doesn’t even look like Bridget” and “why does she look so different?” Of course none of us wrote long-winded hot-take think-pieces for Variety analyzing all of the many ways in which her face disappoints us personally. Duchess Kate is spending more of Charles’ money on high-end clothes this year

2016 has brought us a “new and improved” Duchess of Cambridge, or so her PR would have us believe. Five years into her role as duchess, Kate is supposed to be feeling more comfortable in her royal role. We’re also supposed to believe that she’s successfully transitioned from her mass-market High Street looks to more expensive and sophisticated designer clothes. Personally, I don’t see much of a difference in her style in the past few years other than the price tags. Which I suspect is the point of this piece at the Daily Mail. While Prince Harry is shopping the bargain bins at Waitrose, Kate is spending her father-in-law’s money on undercooked cinnamon bun hats and doily dresses. She was once hailed ‘Queen of the High Street’ for championing mid-range clothes within reach of the average woman’s budget. But the Duchess of Cambridge has been re-crowned the ‘Designer Duchess’ after replacing her trusted Zara dresses and Topshop bargains with haute couture. Once a reluctant style icon, Kate –who famously wore a £50 blue Zara dress the day after her wedding – is now almost exclusively choosing high-end gowns, coats and shoes. And the 34-year-old’s new tastes do not come cheap. Much of her working wardrobe is paid for by the Prince of Wales, who funds William, Kate and Harry’s official activities. Royal accounts published last week show Charles’s ‘other expenditure’, which includes money spent on Kate and his sons, rose 9.5 per cent in a year to £3.2 million – although aides refused to specify how much of that went on Kate’s wardrobe. The transition has come with the help of an in-house tailor and her personal dresser, 29-year-old Natasha Archer, also based in Kensington Palace. The most expensive item Kate has been seen in this year was a £7,000 pale blue Catherine Walker coat dress, which she wore to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral last month. While her clothes are now of a better quality, she is increasingly ‘recycling’ outfits she has worn before, including a £2,000 cream-coloured Alexander McQueen coat dress seen at Trooping the Colour in June. And she has finally ditched her trusty £145 LK Bennett court shoes in favour of pumps by Milan-based Gianvito Rossi, costing about £450. ‘Kate is wearing pricier pieces for semi-formal engagements,’ says Susan Kelley, editor of the website What Kate Wore. ‘We’ve seen her in three Dolce & Gabbana lace dresses in the past year which cost more than £6,000 in total. Now, almost all of her special occasion dresses are upscale, luxury labels.’ [From The Daily Mail] I understand that her wardrobe is supposed to be seen as a “years-long transition,” rather than an overnight change from middle-class girlfriend to high-end duchess. But what strikes me about Kate’s wardrobe is that you really can’t tell which pieces are high-end and which pieces are mass market, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Some women – the Diane Krugers and Cate Blanchetts of the world – can make inexpensive clothes look rich. Some women – like Kate – make high-end pieces look mass-market. One of the biggest issues with Kate’s clothes is how much she’s spending on personalized tailoring, most of which is unneeded. Or worse yet, the tailoring actually screws up the look. And you have to look no further than her absolutely awful bespoke piece at the Battle of Somme centenary event last Friday to see that this is Kate’s (expensive) vision for how she’s supposed to look. Embed from Getty Images On Thursday evening, Prince Harry, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at Thiepval memorial to the Missing in France to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Somme during World War I. Tributes were also held in London, with the Queen, Prince Philip and David Cameron all attending a service at Westminster Abbey. The younger royals got sent to France though, which is how it should be. I’ve come to expect Harry at these kind of somber military events, but the Cambridges usually don’t pull this kind of duty. I think Kate looks nice here. She wore this Missoni coat which probably retails for something like $2900, although she’s likely had it significantly altered. But I like that it’s memorial-appropriate but it’s not just solid-black. She managed to stand out but not be disrespectful. And hey, at least she wasn’t wearing hot pink. She gets bonus points from me for wearing her hair back, wearing a fascinator that didn’t look like an undercooked cinnamon bun, and for keeping her accessories very simple. She might not look like Barbie Duchess, but she looked respectful of the event. What else? Prince William made a speech and as I was skimming the text, I was like “whoa, politics!” Take a gander: “One hundred years ago tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. the British army attacked German lines across these fields. To the young men eager to fight it was known as the ‘Big Push.’ The joint British and French offensive intended to put unbearable pressure on the German army and hasten an end to the war. Most of those who went over the top that day were wartime volunteers. Some as young as 16. Some had already seen action. For others the Somme was their first experience of battle. By the end of the 1st of July the British Army had sustained almost 60,00 casualties, of whom nearly one third had died. We lost the flower of a generation. And in the years to come it sometimes seemed that with them a sense of vital optimism had disappeared forever from British life. It was, in many ways, the saddest day in the long story of our nation. “Tonight we think of them as they nerved themselves for what lay ahead. We acknowledge the failures of European governments, including our own, to prevent the catastrophe of World War. We offer our humblest respects to each man who fought in the Battle of the Somme from every corner of the British Isles and from across the Commonwealth. We honor those whose names are recorded on this memorial. More than 72,000 who have no know grave. And to those who lie buried in Commonwealth war cemeteries. And tonight we stand here with a promise to those men. We will remember you. The gift you gave your country is treasured by every one of us this day. Props to William for acknowledging the lack of leadership that caused so many young men to die in that dreadful battle. And if people want to believe he’s just making a reference to the lack of leadership 100 years ago, so be it. But maybe he’s talking about a lack of leadership today. Bregrexit!
