Pamela Anderson is cured of Hep-C: ’16 years ago it was a death sentence’

Pamela Anderson announced on her Instagram on that she’s cured of Hepatitis C. Anderson, 48, told the press in 2002 that she developed the chronic disease after sharing a tattoo needle with her ex-husband, Tommy Lee. Apparently there’s a new antiviral regimen that’s much more effective than previous treatments and can cure about 80 to 95% of cases. Anderson has been on it, and she said back in August that she “could be cured within a month.” It may have taken a little longer than she expected, but she’s cured now and she made the announcement with a strategically covered nude photo and this news. (I’m not posting the picture as that affects our ads. You can see it on People Magazine.)

Damn that’s a lot of hashtags, but I’m happy for her that’s incredible. Anderson also told People this summer that she’s been feeling so much better since she started this treatment.

“I’m very fortunate that I’ve had Hep C for about 16 years,” says Anderson. “Sixteen years ago that was [presented to me] as a death sentence. I think it really worked on my self esteem. Even though I may have looked confident on the outside, I think it really was a dark cloud that lingered over me.”

“I don’t have any liver damage and I don’t have any side effects,” she says. “I’m living my life the way I want to but it could have eventually have caused me some problems and so it was a real blessing that I was able to get the medicine. I’m half way there.”

“I’m really excited,” says the author of the new coffee table book Raw. “I feel good. I feel so blessed.”

 

“I’ve always been an advocate of trying to remove stigma from hepatitis C from aids,” she says. “I think subconsciously [the disease] just works on you.”

Today, she feels better than ever. “I actually just look in the mirror everyday and I feel like I’m looking younger and younger and I feel like I’m getting those 20 years back.”

Sarah Palin appeared on ‘Today’ and her crazy word salad was epic

As we covered yesterday, Sarah Palin jump-started some kind of insane and stupid fight with PETA because she posted some Facebook photos of her son Trig standing on their dog, Jill Hadassah. The controversy wasn’t limited to PETA, by the way. People commented on Palin’s Facebook page, and all of the internet, basically saying that parents should teach their children that it’s not okay to stand on animals. PETA did make a statement, basically saying the same thing. Which led to a magnificent word salad Facebook post from Palin, attacking PETA. This is the dumbest controversy, and Sarah Palin is milking it for everything. I guess she wanted some attention? In any case, Palin scored an invite to spew her brand of crazy on the Today Show this morning. Here’s the video:

Sarah Palin’s still got a bone to pick with PETA. The Fox News contributor lashed out at the animal rights group yet again Tuesday on Today, beginning by reiterating “there was no harm at all” done to dog Jill Hadassah when 6-year-old Trig stood on the pup’s back.

The labrador retriever is “a strong, trained dog,” said Palin, noting that the service canine “really, really love(s)” her Trig, who has Down syndrome. She explained Monday in a statement to NBC News that Jill “was born and trained [by the Puppy Jake Foundation] to help those with challenges most of us will never understand”—like those faced by her special needs son.

The former governor of Alaska pointed out once again that Ellen DeGeneres, PETA’s Woman of the Year in 2009, posted a similar picture of a young child standing on a dog. “The outcry there was ‘oohs’ and ‘has’ and [that’s] sweet,” Palin said. She also took issue with New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, PETA’s Man of the Year for 2014. “He had just—doggone it!—he killed a groundhog when he dropped it last year on Groundhog Day!”

“It’s absolutely hypocritical that [PETA’s] double standards apply to, I don’t know, perhaps a constitutional conservative,” Palin added.

When asked whether mentioning that President Barack Obama admitted to having eaten dog as a child was a “cheap shot,” Palin replied emphatically, “Heck no…President Obama, too many of the far left radicals who are part of the PETA, they look at him as, I don’t know, their messiah! I think he as a child, probably the same age as Trig, did much worse than just use the dog as a stepping stool.”

Palin, who said said she agrees with “what I hope is the true meaning of [PETA’s] mission—respecting God’s creation and critters,” was asked whether she’d consider “smok(ing) the peace pipe” with the organization. This got a laugh out of the mom of five, who said she didn’t think most PETA members “would put up with what I believe in,” including practices like hunting and eating meat.

“But, I believe there would be mutual respect and support if we can both agree that, yeah, God’s creation here is really precious, very sacred and we should do all we can to conserve,” she said.

She had to drag Bill de Blasio into it, and every other liberal dog-stander, groundhog killer and animal-eater. This whole thing makes no sense, but maybe I’m the crazy one because I’m looking for logic in an Sarah Palin interview. She’s just trying to get some attention.

Brangelina: ‘It’s a wonderful feeling to be married. The children are so happy’

Ha, we’re getting more details about The Brangelina Wedding from Hello and People Magazine. People led me to believe that Angelina’s wedding gown was made by Luigi Massi, the “master tailor” of Versace. But Donatella Versace wants everyone to know that SHE designed the gown, Massi just made it, I guess. Donatella gave Us Weekly a look at her sketches for the gown (you can see the sketch here) and Donatella tells Us Weekly: “Angelina has it all. Beauty, class and brains. I wish the best for her and her wonderful family.” Oh, and she says that Angelina also wore white silk satin pumps by Versace too. Do you want more details? I enjoyed this:

Angelina Jolie walked down the aisle on Saturday, Aug. 23, to the tune of her husband Brad Pitt humming the “Wedding March.” The couple shared the details behind their super-secret wedding in the latest issue of the UK’s Hello! magazine, including any potential honeymoon plans and how their six kids were actively involved in planning the ceremony.

“We wanted it to be intimate and it was,” the newlyweds told the mag of their ceremony, which was held in a chapel on their Southern French estate, Chateau Miraval. “It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter. It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family.”

Indeed, the Jolie-Pitt kids — Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 8, and 6-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — each had a say on his/her involvement in the nondenominational ceremony. “They picked their clothes and their duties,” Brangelina told Hello! “They all took it very seriously. Knox practiced carrying coins and acorns on his little pillow before he got the ring.” (Later, Hello! learned that one of the kids dropped a ring.)

As Us Weekly confirmed last Thursday, Aug. 28, Jolie, 39, walked down the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Daughters Zahara and Vivienne “threw petals gathered from the garden,” their spokesperson told Us, while second oldest daughter Shiloh and youngest son Knox were ring bearers.

According to the mag, when the A-listers kissed at the altar, Shiloh had to stifle herself with the ring cushion to stop laughing out loud.

“They are our best friends and the people closest to us in our lives,” the couple told Hello!

The bride even wanted her kids to make a mark on her custom-designed gown by Atelier Versace — literally. “I wanted the kids to be a part of everything including the dress, because that’s our family,” Jolie told Hello! of her white silk-satin gown embroidered with drawings from her six kids. “That represents the way we live out life together.” Hilariously, one illustration on Jolie’s veil read “Buttock Fatock.”

Even after the ceremony, the newlyweds enjoyed a cake baked by Pax. To celebrate the joyous occasion, the family ate a home-cooked provincial-style meal on the grounds of their estate. Pitt’s parents, William and Jane, as well as his brother Doug and sister Julie, were all present to toast the couple.

As for any potential honeymoon plans? “We are making a film [By the Sea] about an unhappily married couple. It’s not lost on us what a strange honeymoon it is!” Brangelina joked of their film, currently being shot in Malta. As exclusively reported by Us, the two share some “crazy sex scenes” in the movie.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to be married,” the couple concluded. “The children are so happy.”

I love the details – Pax baked a cake! Knox practiced his ringbearer duties but Shiloh did not! I get the feeling that Shiloh was the ring-dropper too. That kid is such a handful – I bet Angelina sees a lot of herself in Shiloh. Hello also noted the fact that Brad did something special to remember Angelina’s mom – Brad had a stone engraved “with a tribute to Bertrand at the spot where they said ‘I do’ in the chapel at Chateau Miraval.” Aw.

Well, well. I wondered last week if Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were going to sell/give away their wedding photos to People Magazine and Hello, and wouldn’t you know? It happened. I don’t know if People/Hello paid for this exclusive, but I suspect they did. Or at the very least, the magazines made a substantial contribution to one of the Jolie-Pitt foundations or charities. When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie went about planning their big day, they didn’t have to look far to find the perfect wedding planners: their six children.

The intimate Aug. 23 ceremony – attended by just 20 friends and family members – was held in the chapel of Château Miraval, the family’s estate in the French village of Correns. The wedding – including exclusive photos of the ceremony, Jolie’s unique dress (decorated with her children’s artwork!) and the entire family’s celebration – is featured in this week’s issue of PEOPLE, in conjunction with Hello! magazine internationally.

Each child had a key role to play: Eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked their mom down the aisle; flower girls Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, tossed petals gathered from the garden; and Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, served as ring bearers. The kids also helped write their parents’ vows. And Pax baked the cake!

“It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter,” Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, tell PEOPLE. “It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family.”

Even Jolie’s dress was an expression of her kids’ creativity: Luigi Massi, the master tailor at Atelier Versace, sewed dozens of designs from her children’s drawings into the dress and veil.

“Luigi is like family to me and I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this dress,” says Jolie. “He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together.”

Pitt wore a suit from his closet – with a tie borrowed from one of his sons because Pitt forgot to pack his. Zahara’s dress was designed by family friend Adama Kebe. Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, and Knox wore black suits (Shiloh’s included shorts and a top hat), and Vivienne wore a white dress from her closet. Jeweler Robert Procop, who designed Jolie’s engagement ring, created the couple’s wedding bands.

I’m not disappointed with the kids at all, but THIS DRESS is a nightmare. I’m not even talking about the kids’ drawings on the back, although the execution of that is… not very good. But the silhouette, the design, the style of the dress just doesn’t suit her. Angelina is good in streamlined clothes and I really don’t get the bust of this dress at all. Ugh! Oh well. It wasn’t my wedding. Everything else is fine, I guess. I’m just grumbling about the dress. (And Shiloh wore WEDDING SHORTS! Montenegro Style!)

Um, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married this weekend. They went for the weekend when everyone was concentrating on the Emmys and VMAs. THEY ARE MARRIED. THEY GOT MARRIED IN FRANCE.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were married Saturday in Chateau Miraval, France, says a spokesman for the couple.

Jolie and Pitt wed Saturday in a small chapel in a private ceremony attended by family and friends. In advance of the nondenominational civil ceremony, Pitt and Jolie also obtained a marriage license from a local California judge. The judge also conducted the ceremony in France.

The couple’s children took part in the wedding. Jolie walked the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox and Pax. Zahara and Vivienne threw petals. Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers, the spokesman says.

Ricky Gervais is PETA’s Person of the Year

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, otherwise known as PETA, apparently has a “Person of the Year” award that they give out and for 2013, they’ve decided to bestow the honour upon Ricky Gervais. Is he a vegetarian? Not that that’s a stipulation of the prize, but one would think… In any case, he’s been given the award because he’s spoken out against animal cruelty a lot… on Twitter. Apparently his comments about animals have been retweeted over 92,000 times this year, which makes him a pretty key player in the Twitter activism game. I jest.

“Ricky Gervais makes sure that animals have their say, tweet, growl or roar on Twitter,” said PETA Managing Director Ingrid E Newkirk.

“He finds humor in most things, but cruelty to animals isn’t one of them. As he says himself, ‘Animals are not here for us to do as we please with. We are not their superiors, we are their equals. We are their family. Be kind to them’.”

Fair enough. I’m all for treating animals kindly. I love my dog and if anyone ever hurt him, I would hurt them, so I get the sentiment. I do think PETA is kinda awful, but I suppose they mean well, so since it’s Christmas, I’ll just wish a hearty congratulations to all.

Katy Perry‘s video for ‘Roar’ is certainly a thing to behold, in whatever sense you wanna take that – it even got shit from PETA, so you know it’s something! Well, now we get a chance to go behind the scenes and see how the magic happened. Don’t you feel lucky?

As she explains it, “We are figuring out how to live in the jungle and survive. It’s kind of like Survivor and it’s a little bit like Lost and it’s a lot of fun. Looks like! Technically this vid was released earlier this month, but I didn’t know about it because I’m behind the times, apparently, so maybe you won’t have seen it either. If you have, so what, just go with it.
