Star: Evan Spiegel wants Miranda Kerr to sign a Draconian prenup

This might be the feel-good story of the week. Not all golddiggers are equal! For every Jerry Hall – who managed to get her billionaire down the aisle in less than seven months – there is a Miranda Kerr, who toiling away for something like 10 months… and still no ring! I personally think this is Miranda’s second Golddigger Fail – she was trying to land James Packer back in the day, but it fell apart. And now Mariah Carey has landed Packer, and Miranda is trying to play it like she’ll just wait out her young billionaire boyfriend for however long it takes. Star Magazine says that Evan Spiegel is thinking marriage. But he’s also thinking “ironclad prenup.” After months of marriage talk, Miranda Kerr was expecting a ring from her boyfriend, Evan Spiegel, but the world’s youngest billionaire, 25, gave her an early draft of an ironclad prenup to read over instead. “Evan’s lawyers are advising that Miranda walk away with nothing if they get divorced,” dishes a source, noting that the Snapchat CEO is worth a staggering $2 billion compared with the model’s $38 million fortune. “Miranda started laughing when she heard what Evan was proposing. Then she realized that he was dead-serious. I can only imagine the look on her face!” And no matter how persuasive Miranda might be, her future fiancé isn’t budging. Explains the source: “The way Evan sees it, if they’re really going to spend the rest of their lives together, she’ll always be taken care of.” [From Star Magazine, print edition] Hey, at least she’s got him on the hook! He wants to marry her, he just wants to make sure that she doesn’t get her hands on all of that Snapchat money in a few years. Personally, I think that if Evan is making such a big deal about the prenup, she just needs to give in a little bit. I’m not saying she should sign something Draconian, but she needs to play up the idea of wanting to have his babies and doesn’t he want his children taken care of no matter what? Of course, maybe that wouldn’t work on a 25-year-old bro like Evan Spiegel. Which is why I do kind of wonder if this whole relationship hasn’t been a waste of Miranda’s time, if her ultimate goal was “marrying a billionaire and getting that cash money.” Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet.

Taylor Swift in a YSL jumpsuit at the iHeartRadio Awards: try-hard or cute?

I could post 50 photos of Taylor Swift’s pose-harding at the iHeartRadio Awards last night and each photo would make me laugh. It’s not that her outfit or her styling looked ridiculous, it’s just that she was taking the posing SO seriously. She was posing her ass off on this carpet and it was amazing. She really wanted the photographers to get her Saint Laurent Fall 2016 jumpsuit from every angle, especially the butt shots. As for the Saint Laurent jumpsuit … while Taylor has a great figure, I feel like this is sort of unflattering on her. I would have loved to see her in something else from Saint Laurent, like one of the more menswear-inspired looks. Taylor was joined at the awards show by her BFF Selena Gomez and her (Taylor’s) boyfriend Calvin Harris, also known as Adam Wiles. While Calvin and Tay didn’t walk the carpet together, they did sit together and Taylor did thank him during one of her many trips up to the stage to collect her awards, saying: “For the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and when the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that.” Taylor took home awards for Best Tour, Best Female Artist and Album of the Year. Calvin took home the award for Dance Artist of the Year. Taylor also said something about how this was her last awards show for a while. Sure. She’s probably going to spend the spring and summer planning her wedding!!! Tom Hiddleston came to Vegas for the ACM Awards: would you hit it?

I’m pretty sure the Dragonflies knew/suspected this: Tom Hiddleston made an appearance at last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards. He’s still shilling for I Saw the Light, so he went to pay homage to country music and Hank Williams and all of that. I think Tom looked really nice – his hair didn’t look shellacked, and it almost looks like he spent the day doing dirty things in a Las Vegas hotel room (the ACM Awards were held in Vegas). In other Hiddles news, his full Daily Beast interview was released over the weekend – you can read the full piece here. He has a lot to say about music in general, how much he loves Radiohead and Nirvana and Amy Winehouse and more. I’m including some other photos of some of the “hot guys” at the ACM Awards. Mostly because… you guys, I’m developing a thing for Luke Bryan. I used to think he was a boring country douche-bro, but as time goes on… I think I like him. Sort of. At the very least, I find him attractive. Those sexy beanpoles get me every damn time. Luke was the co-host of the ACM Awards along with Dierks Bentley. The reviews of their performance were… mixed. Here’s Scotty McCreery. I’m not into him, but some of you might be. And here’s Sam Hunt, one of the few highlights from this year’s Grammys. He needs different hair and some lessons on how to pose on the carpet, but otherwise… he looks good. Final guy: Dierks Bentley, the other co-host. My mom thinks he’s good-looking. I’m not feeling it. Emma Watson needs a better explanation for her Lancome skin-whitening ads

Several years back, Emma Watson got a lucrative beauty contract with Lancome. She became one of their “faces,” and she appeared in print ads for many different Lancome products. Her contract is done at this point, and I have no idea if Lancome simply didn’t renew it or if Emma just didn’t want to be in their advertising anymore. But this week, people started discussing a print ad from 2013. The print ad (seen above) features Emma as the “face” of a skin-whitening Lancome product being sold in Asia. As you can imagine, the reaction was really, really bad. People have been itching to write off Emma as just another non-intersectional white feminist, and this gave them a perfect opportunity. Beauty companies have long sold “skin lightening” products in countries with large (or nearly exclusive) populations of non-white women. Lancome is not the first nor will they be the last. Colorism, racism and the white-dominated hierarchy of beauty standards all come into play when we talk about skin lightening. We’ve talked about it before too, with Freida Pinto talking openly about her disgust for Indian society’s obsession with getting lighter skin. Anyway, the conversation centered around Emma and how she’s basically Peak White Feminism because she has profited from selling this bulls—t. So Emma’s publicist came out and this was literally the only statement made. “I cannot comment on my client’s previous contractual arrangements with Lancôme. However, my client no longer participates in advertising beauty products, which do not always reflect the diverse beauty of all women.” [Via People] If it sounds like Emma’s people are sort of throwing Lancome under the bus, that’s because I think they are. I also think there’s a very real possibility that Emma’s images were used by Lancome for skin-whitening products without her explicit or implicit endorsement. Oh, and a Lancome representative told People: “Blanc Expert was created by Lancôme 20 years ago. It helps brighten, even skin tone, and provides a healthy looking complexion. This kind of product, proposed by every brand, is an essential part of Asian women’s beauty routines.” [Via People] That pisses me off more than Emma’s rep’s statement. Skin-lightening products are not now and never have been an “essential” part of Asian women’s beauty routines and f—k you very much for saying so, Lancome. As for Emma and white feminism… I find Emma less harmful than someone like Lena Dunham, honestly. I think Emma is trying and she’s attempting to educate herself beyond the narrow feminist beliefs she held just a few years ago. Does she deserve some backlash? Sure. Does she owe her fans a better explanation of why her image ended up on skin-whitening ads? Yes. But Lancome is the villain here, make no mistake. Photos courtesy of Lancome, WENN.

Wendi Deng, 47, is apparently getting ‘serious’ with Pres. Vladimir Putin

When Rupert Murdoch married Wendi Deng in 1999, it was controversial. Murdoch was then a spry 68-year-old and Wendi was 31. At the time, it was his third marriage and her second. Deng has always been accused of trading in lovers and husbands for more money and power, and many side-eyed the fact that Deng had been the “homewrecker” two times in a row, breaking up her first husband’s marriage and then being the “other woman” in Murdoch’s second marriage. When the Deng-Murdoch marriage fell apart back in 2014, there were once again widespread rumors that Deng had already moved on to another more powerful lover, this time the very married Tony Blair. I don’t know what happened between Deng and Blair, but if it was ever something, it’s probably over now. Because Wendi Deng is reportedly dating… Vladimir Putin. How’s this for a new couple alert? The rumor circulating around the corridors of power — from Washington, D.C., to Europe and Asia — is that Vladimir Putin and Wendi Deng, Rupert Murdoch’s ex-wife, are dating. Reports of the pair have been floating around for years, ever since their respective divorces in 2014 and 2013. One insider close to the powerful leader tells Us Weekly the relationship is “serious.” The controversial Russian president, 63, was previously married to Lyudmila Putina for 30 years, with whom he shares daughters Maria, 30, and Yekaterina, 29. The Kremlin confirmed their divorce in April 2014. The politician rarely discusses his children, but during an annual news conference in December 2015, he boasted about his daughters to thousands of reporters, before shutting down more personal questions. “They studied only at Russian universities. I am proud of them. They continue to study and work. My daughters speak three European languages fluently. One of them can even speak one or two Oriental languages. They are making their first steps and are successful,” he told the crowd during the rare moment, before stating: “I never discuss questions related to my family. They are not involved in business or politics. They are not pushing for this.” Following Lyudmila and Putin’s split, the president was rumored to be dating Russian gymnast Alina Kabaeva. Putin was often featured in European gossip sites after Kabaeva stepped out in early 2015 looking “fuller,” igniting pregnancy rumors. Swiss newspaper Bild then reported that Putin had missed appearances because he had traveled to Switzerland to be by Kabaeva’s side, where she allegedly gave birth to their child at a Swiss hospital in March 2015. The Kremlin has repeatedly denied the rumors. Deng has yet to be spotted looking romantic with the Russian leader, but was seen boarding her pal Roman Abramovich’s yacht in St. Bart’s on Monday, March 28. Abramovich also happens to be friends with Putin. (According to the Daily Mail, the billionaire Chelsea Football Club owner reportedly gifted the president with a $35 million yacht in January.) [From Us Weekly] There’s no shadiness like Russian shadiness, my God. Putin received a “gift” of a $35 million yacht from Roman Abramovich? Yikes. And I still believe that Putin was dealing with that gymnast, Alina Kabaeva. In fact, that’s why the news surprised me so much – I was sure that if we ever heard anything else about Putin’s personal life, it was going to be that he married his young gymnast. As for the Deng-Putin power couple… I suspect they’ve both met their match. And it will either be perfect or it will be an utter disaster, nothing in between. I also suspect the timing of this confirmation is more about Wendi trying to stick it to her ex, Rupert Murdoch, for marrying Jerry Hall so quickly. Photos courtesy of WENN.

A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 13, 2016 at 5:06pm PDT Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco told Ellen last month that she thought 2016 was going to be a “much better year” and it seems that romantically, it’s shaping up that way. The animal-loving actress has been spending quite a bit of time with equestrian Karl Cook. Kaley, 30, and Karl, 25, were spotted taking in a tennis match together a few weeks ago in California and she has posted photos with him on Instagram, like the one she posted two weeks ago, congratulating Karl on winning a competition. The caption read, “Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ?? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ?.” Couple selfies? Emojis? Horses? This could be love. Karl not only is a skilled equestrian, he also comes from good stock, as my Mom would say. His father, Scott Cook, founded the tax software firm Intuit, which created QuickBooks and TurboTax, and is valued at $2 billion. Not too shabby. And he’s a cutie to boot. Good on you, Kaley. Kaley posted a cute #tbt photo on her Instagram yesterday canoodling on the beach with Karl with the caption “We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick.” #tbt We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick ??☀️? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 31, 2016 at 12:24pm PDT Kaley also posted a picture with Karl on the shooting range where, instead of a kiss, Karl put his tongue on her forehead. For me, this is so much yes – but I love to shoot guns and adore men with that offbeat sense of humor. ? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 25, 2016 at 5:14pm PDT I know Kaley may be a little… impetuous in love (by the way, does anyone know whatever happened with Paul Blackthorne?), but I think she and Karl make a cute couple. I’m also glad she didn’t end up with Sam Hunt, because that means I might still have a crack at him! Oh, and Kaley, if you’re reading this, no relationship-significant tattoos, okay? Bernie Sanders calls George Clooney’s ritzy Clinton fundraisers ‘obscene’

George Clooney spoke about his support for Hillary Clinton several months ago, when he was promoting Hail Caesar. Clooney has always been a big Hollywood Democrat, and he supported John Kerry and Barack Obama in past presidential election cycles. Clooney has made no secret of his support for Clinton this time around, but he also hasn’t said anything negative about Bernie Sanders. The only person Clooney has criticized is Donald Trump. Anyway, George and Amal Clooney are cohosting two major California fundraisers for Clinton’s campaign and the DNC. The fundraiser tickets cost $33,400, and the Clooneys have co-hosts like Jeffrey Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg and more. This usually happens, by the way – the Hollywood Democrats and Silicon Valley Democrats will throw several big (and big-money) fundraisers in LA and San Francisco every presidential election cycle. But Hillary Clinton’s competition, Bernie Sanders, doesn’t like it. He thinks the Clooneys represent “big money people.” “It is obscene that Secretary Clinton keeps going to big-money people to fund her campaign,” Bernie Sanders said in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday. Clinton is asking donors for $353,400 for two seats at the head table with herself, Clooney and his wife, Amal, at the April 15 event in San Francisco. The next night, the Clooneys will host a $33,400 per person fundraiser for Clinton at the couple’s Los Angeles home. “I have a lot of respect for George Clooney. He’s a great actor. I like him,” Sanders said. “But this is the problem with American politics … Big money is dominating our political system. And [my supporters and I] are trying to move as far away from that as we can.” Sanders, whose campaign has been largely funded by small donations, says his events usually cost “$15 or $50” to get into. “So it’s not a criticism of Clooney,” he said. “It’s a criticism of a corrupt campaign finance system, where big money interests — and it’s not Clooney, it’s the people coming to this event — have undue influence on the political process.” Throughout the Democratic primary, the self-described democratic socialist has attacked Clinton’s ties to Wall Street. He did so again Sunday. “It’s not only this Clooney event,” Sanders said. “It is the fact she has now raised well over $15 million from Wall Street for her super-PAC, and millions more from the fossil fuel industry, and from the drug companies.” Clinton’s Clooney swing comes less than two months before the crucial Democratic primary on June 7 in California, where 475 delegates are at stake. [From Yahoo] CB and I were debating this between ourselves – she’s a Bernie fan, and she agrees with what he’s saying. Meanwhile I voted for Clinton in the Virginia primary, and I did so because I honestly think Clinton is a better Democratic candidate for office. I understand Sanders’ point about getting the “big money” out of politics, and I agree with it as a moral and ethical stance. But in practice, I find it difficult to understand why Clinton (or any Democratic candidate) should be held to a different standard than the GOP candidates. Plus, I just have a fundamental disagreement with calling George Clooney a “big money” donor who will use his fundraising skills to push some agenda with Hillary Clinton. If you want to talk about the hedge fund people pushing candidates for tax cuts for billionaires, sure, let’s talk about that. But what’s on Clooney’s political agenda that isn’t already on Clinton’s agenda? Photos courtesy of WENN.
