Tayor Swift stole the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Right, ‘fess up – who tuned in last night to watch a bunch of half-naked ladies march up and down a stage to music for a few hours? The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has always been a concept that’s been lost on me – I mean, I guess what is there to know other than “people like looking at women in lingerie”, but really? It’s 2014. It just seems a bit outdated. Either way, the show must go on – and go on it did, with Taylor Swift providing some great music for the VS Angels to strut their lace-clad stuff to… and she was damn good. Just check out her performances below! LOL at all the winking and kiss-blowing going on, and how it elicits wild cheers from the audience every single time. I feel like there’s a joke I’m not in on here. Anyway, I think ‘Style’ is probably the best song on 1989 and I love it so much. In the interest of fairness, Ariana Grande was there, too, and while the broadcast missed out on the best moment of the night – Ariana getting whacked in the face by one of the Angel’s wings – she still did okay, I guess? Meryl Streep is preaching truth again

Meryl Streep is absolutely wonderful, isn’t she? She’s always killing it both as an actor and an awesome human being, so I always listen to what she has to say (seriously – when I went to a press conference for August, Osage Country last year I nearly cried with joy just looking at her in front of me). This time around, she’s talking about youth and how our culture is so obsessed with being young. “I would say our culture is pretty youth-obsessed,” the Oscar winner, 65, told PEOPLE at the Disney movie musical’s premiere Monday night. “Especially people that pass 40.” Streep says when she turned the big 4-0, her acting prospects looked pretty bleak. “When I was 40, I was offered three witch [roles]. I was not offered any female adventurers or love interests or heroes or demons,” she recalls. “I was offered witches because I was ‘old’ at 40.” “Things have changed since then, I think,” she says. “That was 25 years ago. Now there’s so much more interesting stuff available. But still … ” she trails off. I can totally see/hear her saying all this. She does this thing when she’s talking where it’s like her brain has so many thoughts that she goes off into another world, trying to figure out how to put what she wants to say perfectly. Sorry, I stan for Meryl. What do you think? Are we too obsessed with youth? Is it getting better? Are you terrified of getting old? Follow us on Twitter | Facebook

Cuba Gooding Jr. will play OJ Simpson in a TV miniseries

How the mighty have fallen, I suppose? Or not. Cuba Gooding Jr. – once a super bankable movie star – is following in the footsteps a lot of his fellow film actors and making the move to TV, where all the money seems to be (and quite a lot of great roles, too). What’s Cuba’s new role? Well, he’ll be playing OJ Simpson. From US Weekly: Casting closed! Ryan Murphy, the creator and producer behind American Horror Story and Glee, has cast Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. as O.J. Simpson in his upcoming 10 episode miniseries American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Sarah Paulson has also been cast as prosecutor Marcia Clark. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson marks the first installment of Murphy’s upcoming FX anthology series that dramatizes true crime stories and chronicles the former football star’s infamous 1995 murder trial following the death of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson. According to a press release, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson “is a look at the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers that explores the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and maneuvering on both sides of the court, and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense willingness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.” Ugh, wait, so this is a Ryan Murphy affair? Why, God, why? He’s THE WORST. I guess you can at least say his work is varied? I mean, you don’t get much more of a stark difference than Glee, American Horror Story and now OJ Simpson’s life. I don’t particularly think that OJ Simpson deserves any more attention in this life, but I do think his story was a fascinating study in how fame and money can buy you a “get out of jail free” ticket, so to speak. Then again, he’s in prison now for robbery, so the law does eventually catch up with you (hopefully). Follow us on Twitter | Facebook
