Duchess Kate in a Catherine Walker coatdress at St. Paul’s: cute or cloying?

Here are some photos of the Duchess of Cambridge and other royals today at St. Paul’s Cathedral. They attended a service of thanksgiving for Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday, which is funny because today is actually the Duke of Edinburgh’s 95th birthday. But today is the start of a three-day celebration for the Queen, her birthday and her historic reign. In addition to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, this church service was also attended by the York princesses, Prince Harry, the Prince of Wales, the Countess of Wessex, the Duke of York, the Princess Royal, the Duchess of Cornwall, Zara Phillips, Tony Blair, David Cameron and John Major. You can see the Daily Mail’s photos here. While the Queen wore a bright yellow, Kate decided on a more muted palate. She chose this light blue Catherine Walker coatdress, because Kate is obsessed with coatdresses. The white, lacy lattice-work down the front is not my cup of tea, but I think the look is appropriate for a morning church service. The thing that bugs me most of all is that I believe with all my heart that Kate had the hem raised so she could show off more leg, and whomever did it made a hash of it – look at how uneven that looks! Kate’s hat is by Jane Taylor, and Kate paired the ensemble with a pair of much-beloved nude heels. I have to say… the York princesses looked fantastic this morning. The Duke of York, not so much. Charlotte Rampling on her #OscarsSoWhite drama: ‘I’m anything but racist’

In the heat of this year’s Oscars race, the #OscarsSoWhite controversy blew up. For the second year in a row, there were no major nominations for minority actors. The controversy got so bad that the Academy is still undergoing renovations to the voter rolls and trying to bring in some fresh blood and hopefully more diverse membership. The controversy also got so bad that various (white) actors had to answer questions about the all-white party known as the Oscars. One of those actors? Charlotte Rampling. Rampling was asked point-blank about the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and she said: “It is racist to whites. One can never really know, but perhaps the black actors did not deserve to make the final list,” added Rampling. Asked if the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should introduce quotas, a proposal which no current advocate of increased diversity has mooted, she responded: “Why classify people? These days everyone is more or less accepted … People will always say: ‘Him, he’s less handsome’; ‘Him, he’s too black’; ‘He is too white’ … someone will always be saying ‘You are too’ [this or that] … But do we have to take from this that there should be lots of minorities everywhere?” [From previous story] Within hours, Rampling’s publicist made her issue an apology in which Rampling claimed that her comments had been “misinterpreted” and that she of course believes that “in an ideal world every performance will be given equal opportunities for consideration.” While her clarification left me cold (it was basically “sorry you read the words I actually spoke”), Rampling really didn’t suffer because of it. She didn’t have to answer any other questions about race and her belief that minorities were being racist to white people. Well now, months later, Rampling is talking about it again. Charlotte Rampling has defended her controversial Oscars race row comments insisting her words were simply misunderstood. “I probably think it was misinterpreted at the time. I thought, ‘Oh my god, what have I said’. It was in no way what people thought,” says the 70-year-old, who was nominated for best actress at the 2016 Academy Awards for her performance in British drama 45 Hours. “After I just didn’t listen to anything so I don’t know who said what about it. I can’t really say too much now. I could have easily had a dialogue but I wasn’t going to do that after what I said. I’m anything but racist.” [From Express] “I could have easily had a dialogue but I wasn’t going to do that after what I said. I’m anything but racist.” I have literally no idea what she’s trying to say there. Is she saying that of course she isn’t racist and she could have totally had a dialogue about what she said but she knew everyone would just say that she’s racist and she’s totally not racist, you guys. We know she’s not racist because she says so! And it’s like she wants bonus points because she COULD have had a dialogue about race but she didn’t. I would have been fascinated to hear that dialogue. Johnny Depp’s ex-assistant claims Amber Heard is lying about the 2014 texts

One of the most frustrating things about the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp situation is not just the bro-culture of Johnny’s fans, but the blatantly misogynistic tone of some/much of the reporting. The way Amber’s story has been second-guessed and third-guessed and fourth-guessed by TMZ and other outlets has gotten ridiculous at this point. So, let’s talk about some of TMZ’s reporting. Yesterday, we covered Entertainment Tonight’s exclusive about the alleged text messages sent between Amber and Johnny’s then-assistant, a man named Stephen Deuters. In the text messages (reportedly from 2014) that ET published, Deuters and Amber were texting about an incident that happened the night before, where Depp kicked Amber in a drunken rage. Deuters told Amber that Johnny didn’t even remember doing it and that Johnny is “a little lost boy.” So what does TMZ have to report about those text messages? Johnny Depp’s assistant, Stephen Deuters, tells TMZ, the texts that were posted in which he allegedly apologized to Amber Heard for Johnny’s violent behavior are heavily doctored … and he never said Johnny attacked her. Deuters says he knows of no acts of abuse toward Amber at the hands of Johnny and has never made such a claim to anyone. He adds, Johnny has never been violent toward anyone he knows. Deuters says the texts themselves are suspicious because they don’t even show a date. Bottom line … he says he will testify under oath he never had a conversation about alleged violence with Amber. [From TMZ] First of all, it’s not like Amber doesn’t also have photos, witnesses and a video. Why are people acting like IF Deuters is telling the truth, then Amber’s story should be thrown out? Second of all, telling TMZ you will testify under oath about having no knowledge of abuse is different than actually testifying under oath and being cross-examined by a series of lawyers. Do you know what I mean? Lindsay Lohan can run to TMZ and tell them any story she wants (and she has, hundreds of times), but when it comes time to actually give testimony under oath, it’s a totally different story. Especially when Amber has made it pretty clear that she’s been holding on to two years’ worth of receipts which her lawyers will use to incriminate the dudes being sent out to muddy the waters on Amber’s claims. As for those receipts, TMZ is still playing fast and loose with whether Amber has filed police reports and whether filing a police report is the make-or-break evidence in whether Johnny abused Amber for years. Many abuse victims never file police reports and it doesn’t make the abuse any less real, that’s all I’ll say. Anyway, TMZ also says that Amber has had a “change of heart” about filing a police report because she “doesn’t want to bury him” and she doesn’t want to see Depp arrested. But “sources connected with Johnny scoff at Amber’s sympathy,” and claim that Amber has just done all of this so that Alice Through the Looking Glass would bomb at the box office. Seriously? And no one is going to second-guess THAT claim? Photos courtesy of WENN.

Miranda Simms Calls Leah Messer Out: I’m So Good To Your Girls!

Leah Messer's cousin recorded an interaction between one of her twin daughters and their stepmom, Miranda Simms. Naturally, it disturbed the Teen Mom 2 star. In the recording Ali, 6, complained that “Miranda always gets mad at me cause my backpack is too heavy." Ali was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, which leads to weakness and muscle mass. “I give her my backpack when it’s too heavy" Ali continued. "She [Miranda] says, ‘Ali, I have to hold the baby.'” Miranda and Leah's ex-husband have a daughter, Remington, whom they welcomed back in November. Leah was furious after watching the video. “I can’t watch it without getting angry or wanting to cry… I don’t know what to do,” she told her sister, Victoria. "There’s nothing wrong with you going down there and saying, ‘I’m tired of my kids hurting,'" Leah told Victoria "Ali has a condition, she can’t help it that she can’t carry the damn backpack. So the lazy b***h needs to pick the backpack up and carry it for her period. "There is no reason that kid should feel that way.” Leah told her sister that Ali says she's "upset" and "hurt" by the way Miranda treats her. “What do I do?” she asked helplessly. “I want to save them. I want to make them feel better, I want to rescue them and I can’t. There’s nothing I can do and they’re my kids.” It is Corey’s fault just as much as it is Miranda’s,” she added. “I would have never, ever thought he would allow this to ever happen to our kids.” In the video below, Leah deals with Miranda's reaction after she told Corey about the video. Miranda was upset that she was portrayed in such a poor light, and texted Leah that she didn't appreciate what happened. Watch the video, and let us know if you agree with Leah or not.

Sir Mix-a-Lot defends Blake Lively’s right to be proud of her ‘Oakland booty’

L.A. face with an Oakland booty A photo posted by Blake Lively (@blakelively) on May 17, 2016 at 5:04pm PDT It’s been two days since Blake Lively posted this ^^ Instagram about her “L.A. face with an Oakland booty.” And for what it’s worth, she hasn’t taken down the Instagram post. Perhaps because she didn’t and doesn’t seen anything wrong with a Becky quoting a Sir Mix-a-Lot song. The “LA face with an Oakland booty” is a lyric from Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back,” a song that has an amazing shelf-life, right? Well, someone FINALLY asked Sir Mix-a-Lot what he thought about Blake quoting his song and claiming that she too has an “Oakland booty.” He likes Blake Lively’s butt and he cannot lie. Hip hop star Sir Mix-a-Lot defended the actress a day after she was lampooned on social media for using a lyric from his seminal hit “Baby Got Back” to caption a photo of her derriere in a form-fitting gown. “I don’t think she’d wear that dress if she thought that booty is horrible — and to me, it ain’t horrible,” he told the Daily News on Thursday. Despite his approval, a slew of fans blasted Lively for captioning the Instagram photo “L.A. face with an Oakland booty” — with some accusing the Caucasian starlet of turning the black female body into a punchline. But Mix-a-Lot doesn’t understand the backlash. “I don’t get it at all,” he said. “She’s saying she’s proud of her butt. I’m glad she embraced the look, because that’s what I wanted (with the song).” Mix-a-Lot says he wrote “Baby Got Back” in 1992 to celebrate women in a time where magazines and TV shows were churning out unrealistic beauty standards. He wanted curvaceous ladies to embrace their bodies, and he says his booty-loving anthem applies to women of all colors and ethnicities. Therefore, the rapper says, it’s important for naysayers to figure out what exactly Lively’s intention was with the caption before they immediately assume she was dissing black culture. “All I would say to the critics is let’s better understand the context of what she said,” Mix-a-Lot contended. “If what she’s saying is ‘I have this butt that Mix-a-Lot was talking about in ‘Baby Got Back,’ that’s a good thing. She’s saying I’ve embraced this ideal of beautiful. However, if what she’s saying is ‘I cannot believe I got this fat, this is horrible,’ then I agree with the critics,” he added. But the 52-year-old artist doesn’t believe that’s the case, and he’s glad the 28-year-old Lively hasn’t removed the controversial photo amid the wave of backlash. “I’m glad she didn’t pull it down, he said. “I don’t think she should.” [From The NYDN] I understand what he’s saying about Blake perhaps making a statement of embracing her curves and how it’s all body positive and la de da, but there IS a racial element to it, right? We’re not just imagining that. For a white woman to publicly proclaim that she has an “Oakland booty” is questionable at best. But anyway, what is Sir Mix-a-Lot going to say? Of course he likes her booty. Photos courtesy of Instagram, WENN.

Bethenny Frankel’s Botox doctor explains how he achieved her new look

Earlier this week, Bethenny Frankel admitted to getting Botox to reshape her jaw. It was refreshing to hear a celebrity own up to injectables, as so many try to fib and attribute their altered faces to skin care, diet or weight loss. (Looking at you, Olivia Munn.) Bethenny explained that her dermatologist told her that her jaw was too “tense” due to habitually grinding her teeth. She said “About three years ago, my dermatologist said to me, why don’t we try injecting your jaw because it’s so tense.” The result is that her face looks more filled out, her cheeks are less prominent and she does look “better.” Radar Online was able to get Bethenny’s dermatologist to speak about her procedures on the record, and he explained it as an aesthetic decision to bring her jaw more in proportion to the rest of her face. Botox doc — Manhattan dermatologist Dr. Howard Sobel — is exclusively telling all to RadarOnline.com about his client’s injections. “Botox can be injected in the Masseter muscle, right above the jawline. This is often done to correct the discomfort and tensions of TMJ, specifically what I did for Bethenny.” Dr. Sobel, the founder of DDF Skincare, explains to Radar. The professional admits the 45-year-old mom’s face has changed shape. “Bethenny’s jawline was very prominent and not in proportion to her cheeks,” he says, adding that he injected small amounts of Botox over a period of months to atrophy the muscle. “By shrinking the Masseter muscle down slowly, her cheeks became more prominent than the squareness of her jaw, resulting in a softer, more feminine look.” Dr. Sobel would not comment on any other services the outspoken star may have received. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Susan Evans— who has never treated the star— recently told Radar that she believes she has gotten cheek implants or fillers, in addition to a chin implant and eye lift. [From Radar Online] It doesn’t seem like Dr. Sobel really read Bethenny’s interview or he would have said something about her bruxism, but the end result is the same and she probably did get some relief from her tense muscles. It doesn’t sound like it was the reason he originally presented to her as she claimed, but whatever. I love how Radar adds another surgeon who speculates that Bethenny probably had a bunch of other things done too. In related news, Bethenny skewered Sonja Morgan on the last episode of Real Housewives of NY. Apparently Sonja has a prosecco brand called “Tipsy Girl” which enraged Bethenny for potentially capitalizing on the success of her alcohol and lifestyle brand, “Skinny Girl.” Bethenny had Sonja in tears as she said “When a brand rides on the coattails of another brand and kind of uses a similar name, they call it a cheater brand.” She then dismissed it by adding “You can’t affect my business at all. It doesn’t matter,” but told Sonja she wanted nothing to do with her at all. Bethenny has since penned a blog calling Sonja “sad,” bragging about her business ventures and claiming she welcomes competition. It doesn’t sound like it. These Real Housewives should go into business helping women decide what kind of Botox, fillers and plastic surgery to get. I just googled that, and plastic surgery advice coaches are a real thing. Obviously Bethenny couldn’t do this because you have to be good with people, but there’s definitely a call for it. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images
