Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ??? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 13, 2016 at 5:06pm PDT Big Bang Theory‘s Kaley Cuoco told Ellen last month that she thought 2016 was going to be a “much better year” and it seems that romantically, it’s shaping up that way. The animal-loving actress has been spending quite a bit of time with equestrian Karl Cook. Kaley, 30, and Karl, 25, were spotted taking in a tennis match together a few weeks ago in California and she has posted photos with him on Instagram, like the one she posted two weeks ago, congratulating Karl on winning a competition. The caption read, “Sooo how many wins does that make??? Amazing GP win @hitshorseshows #thermal, mr KC ?? so proud of you! (And entire team !) ?.” Couple selfies? Emojis? Horses? This could be love. Karl not only is a skilled equestrian, he also comes from good stock, as my Mom would say. His father, Scott Cook, founded the tax software firm Intuit, which created QuickBooks and TurboTax, and is valued at $2 billion. Not too shabby. And he’s a cutie to boot. Good on you, Kaley. Kaley posted a cute #tbt photo on her Instagram yesterday canoodling on the beach with Karl with the caption “We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick.” #tbt We absolutely mastered the ways of the #selfiestick ??☀️? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 31, 2016 at 12:24pm PDT Kaley also posted a picture with Karl on the shooting range where, instead of a kiss, Karl put his tongue on her forehead. For me, this is so much yes – but I love to shoot guns and adore men with that offbeat sense of humor. ? A photo posted by @normancook on Mar 25, 2016 at 5:14pm PDT I know Kaley may be a little… impetuous in love (by the way, does anyone know whatever happened with Paul Blackthorne?), but I think she and Karl make a cute couple. I’m also glad she didn’t end up with Sam Hunt, because that means I might still have a crack at him! Oh, and Kaley, if you’re reading this, no relationship-significant tattoos, okay? Instagram photos can be deleted, tattoos cannot. Embed from Getty Images Embed from Getty Images Photo credit: Getty Images, WENN.com, Instagram/Kaley Cuoco

Are the Cambridges allegedly considering a permanent move to London?

When I wrote about Ingrid Seward’s Mail-on-Sunday takedown of the Cambridges last week, I began to develop a theory about Prince William’s EAAA job. Sources have insisted that William barely even shows up to his part-time air-ambulance-pilot job, and when he does show up, he seems pretty bored. This is not a surprise – as soon as William began training for the job, I wondered if he would even make it a year in the position, and that was before we knew that he was really stretching the boundaries of what it means to work “part-time.” Anyway, I theorized that after William’s terrible month of sh-tty press, he would soon be announcing his retirement from the EAAA, and that he would be on to a new scheme to avoid royal work. Well, here’s something that adds to my theory – apparently, Will and Kate are looking to send George to a pre-prep school… in London! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have put Prince George’s name down for his father’s old pre-prep school, Wetherby, I hear. It could be the clearest sign yet that the couple plan to relocate from Anmer Hall in Norfolk and take up permanent residence at Kensington Palace, which is half a mile from the all-boys’ school. There had been speculation that George, right, who currently attends a Montessori nursery, would go to Beeston Hall in Cromer. That would have allowed Kate, 34, to remain at secluded Anmer Hall, the home she retreated to when she abandoned the 115-year-old tradition of a female Royal presenting the Irish Guards with shamrocks on St Patrick’s Day. Although she relishes raising George, two, and his sister Charlotte in the privacy and tranquility of the countryside, it now seems that the Duchess may feel duty-bound to return to London and become full-time working Royal. It would also explain why Kate undertook a taxpayer-funded £4.5 million refurbishment of Kensington Palace in 2014. If George takes up his place, he will start at Wetherby next year. The move will put Kate and William in the capital at a time when the Queen, by then 91, will be reducing her workload. William and his brother Harry attended Wetherby, which charges £6,500 a term, before they left for Eton feeder Ludgrove prep. Wetherby pupils wear a distinctive red tie, grey cap and scarlet-trimmed blazer – I’m sure George will look adorable. [From The Daily Mail] Is this a signal that someone – either the Queen or Charles – has put their foot down about this increasingly farcical Gentleman Country Farmer/Norfolk Scheme? Or is this much to do about nothing? It’s possible William and Kate are still focused on doing the bare minimum from Norfolk, but they want to make it look like they’re considering moving to London. I guess I have problems believing that Will and Kate would relocate from Norfolk to London without months of more drama and tantrums. Speaking of, did you guys read the epic takedown of Kate in the Daily Mail on Friday? It was the best of British shade – they acted like they were complimenting her when really they were picking apart everything she has done as a duchess. They even call her the Duchess of Do-Little!! Yikes. The Mail points out that Kate “has become even more regal than her Royal in-laws” by half-mocking the fake-poshness of her accent, the changes she’s made to the way she walks and has her photograph taken, how she sits and how she’s all but abandoned High Street for customized pieces at an “astronomical cost.” What’s weird is that I disagree with a large part of this famed “transformation” Kate has made to make herself more regal. She spends a lot of her father-in-law’s money, for sure, but it wasn’t so long ago that we were getting regular Marilyn Moments, sausage curls, jeggings-as-formalwear, etc. While I know that’s not the point – the point was to roll our eyes at Kate’s nouveau riche ways – I found myself rolling my eyes at the Daily Mail’s overblown way of trying to take her down. Renee Zellweger thinks her plastic surgery stories were just on ‘social media’

On Friday, Renee Zellweger appeared on the Today Show to do some advanced promotion for Bridget Jones’ Baby, which isn’t out until September, although the first trailer dropped last week. The trailer was met with mixed reaction… some were iffy about the introduction of Patrick Dempsey’s character, some were iffy about the plot, which features a paternity drama, and some were like, “I’ll see anything with Colin Firth, so this is for me.” Renee addressed the paternity drama stuff quickly, and as it turns out, they shot several different endings so even she doesn’t know who fathered Bridget’s baby. At the end of the interview, Renee gets asked an uncomfortable question though. See… that kind of pisses me off AND I feel somewhat sorry for her. This isn’t a schadenfreude thing where I’m happy to see Renee get slammed by the media, but it’s difficult to feel genuinely sorry for her when she’s still playing this stupid-as-hell games about her very obvious plastic surgery. Renee came out a few years ago with an entirely new face, and everyone and their brother could see that she had gotten some very, very noticeable eye work and more. So when Today asked her, “I remember a couple of years ago people were talking about, ‘Oh, she changed her appearance.’ Does it bother you, does it get to you or is it just par for the course?” “It’s not really part of my life. It’s part of the job, that I don’t really experience except when I step into this arena. In my home I’m not aware of it. I don’t do any kind of social media, so I don’t see it. I like to have – I guess you would call them real experiences.” [Via People] Girl, please. It wasn’t some social media snafu. Every media outlet – gossip and mainstream – ran those photos in 2014 and said something about how different she looked. If she doesn’t want to admit that she had work done, so be it, and I’m sorry that she’s in this uncomfortable position of not feeling like she can be honest about her work. But I hate these stupid games, especially in response to silly backdoor questions. The Today Show didn’t want to be “mean” and ask “So why did you feel the need to come back into the limelight with a new face?” So they ask her “how did it feel when everyone was like ‘She has a new face’?” And Renee’s answer is basically, “What? Who? Where? I’m too busy having ‘real experiences’ to care.” Photos courtesy of WENN, Fame/Flynet.

Kim Kardashian’s diet excludes sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers & white rice

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about on Friday in LA. This feels like the first time we’ve seen her in months without a long, butt-covering jacket or coat. That’s probably because she’s now lost so much of the pregnancy weight that she’s not afraid of photographers getting a few butt shots. While I respect her choice to not give the paps butt shots when she’s uncomfortable with her body, she’s got to know that she’s just driving up the price, right? Anyway, as Kim told us last week, she’s lost 42 pounds of the 70-pound weight loss goal she set for herself post-pregnancy. I think she looks good, as-is. Meaning, she looks comfortable at this weight and this is pretty much how she looked when she got pregnant with Saint West. But she still wants to lose more weight, and her nutritionist spoke to Glamour about Kim’s diet: Kim’s nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins Nutritionals, chatted up Redbook and spilled. Kim, who’s losing about two pounds a week, is sticking to 1,800 calories a day—just right for a breastfeeding mama—says Heimowitz, and she chooses those calories carefully: Every meal includes protein, which she pairs with high-fiber foods (we love barley!) and healthy fats (olive oil, avocados). What she’s not eating: “Sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour, white rice.” One thing she’s not giving up? Cheese—just a little bit. Heimowitz told Redbook that Kim’s daily diet breaks down to: “four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat.” (“Added” fat doesn’t include the fat that’s already in the protein and cheese.) “The secret is [to] pick high-fiber carbohydrates that slow the release of sugar into the bloodstream,” Heimowitz told the mag. “[So] instead of white rice you have a little brown rice. Instead of a white potato you could have a yam. And [when you want] dessert, you can make one with Splenda instead of sugar.” [From Glamour] Atkins diets are always high in protein, as I think everyone knows by now, so it’s not a surprise that Kim includes protein in every meal. I feel like this cheese-specific diet was tailored for her though, which one would expect if one has an on-call nutritionist. Personally, I would rather give up cheese (gladly) for a baked potato every now and then. Besides that, I don’t really believe Kim has given up sugar, sweets, cakes, crackers, white flour and white rice. I think that’s what her nutritionist has told her to give up and Kim sneaks some cracked or a cupcake every so often. Like at a baby shower she hosted for Chrissy Teigen? Apparently, the baby shower food involved McDonalds and nachos. ❤️ A photo posted by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on Mar 26, 2016 at 5:53pm PDT Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.

Jeremy Irons: ‘Abortion harms a woman – it’s a tremendous mental attack’

I went into Jeremy Irons’ Guardian interview only having read one quote, the quote about abortion. I thought I would just read the piece and pull the abortion-quote-block for context. But I can’t. Because this interview is BONKERS. While I definitely think Jeremy Irons is eccentric in a vastly terrible way – think of his comments on incest and gay marriage several years ago, or his thoughts on sexual harassment – I also sort of have to give him credit for putting it all out there. Most celebrities/actors would have some sense of self-awareness that their thoughts are terrible and should never be spoken out loud, especially to the Guardian. Irons does not have that sense of self-awareness, so at least we can openly discuss his on-the-record comments. You can read his full Guardian interview here. Some highlights: On his six homes & a castle: “I have developed a life which seems to need a relatively high income.” Marriage & Christianity: “Our society is based on a Christian structure. If you take those religious tenets away, then anything goes and it will become terrible – and you usually get into trouble. Adultery might be very nice, but finally it f–ks us up. And it f–ks up the structure of society. We don’t steal – well, some people do – because it makes life intolerable for everybody. Yes, you can be in love and raise a family wonderfully by not being married, but actually marriage does give us a strength, because it’s quite hard to get out of, and so it makes us fight more to keep it together. If divorce becomes dead easy – which it sort of has – then we don’t have that backup. Because, for everybody, relationships are hard.” Abortion harms women: “Take abortion. I believe women should be allowed to make the decision, but I also think the church is right to say it’s a sin. Because sin is actions that harm us. Lying harms us. Abortion harms a woman – it’s a tremendous mental attack, and physical, sometimes. But we seem to get that muddled. In a way, thank God the Catholic church does say we won’t allow it, because otherwise nobody’s saying that it’s a sin.” On Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn: “I think he might be the death knell. I love his idealism, but he’s not what I would call a politician. I think the Labour party is no longer fit for purpose. What we very, very, very strongly need is a not a party that represents the labour movement, but everyone who doesn’t like that we are governed, in effect, by global economics. We have to find an intelligent alternative to the Conservative ethos.” He doesn’t believe in interventionism. “It’s like genetic engineering. Everything is held in balance, whether good or not, by diverse internal forces. Syria deals with the opposition with great cruelty, but there are cruel people, as one sees from Isis, and you’re not going to remove that part of nature from those fanatics at that stage of their civilising development. Yet everybody – especially the Americans – seems to think the only way of life is theirs. Democracy? What the f–k does that mean? Freedom? What the f–k does that mean?” The US election: “[It signals] maybe the end of democracy. If democracy has become a gameshow where you vote for the one who makes you laugh most, or whatever, then we’re not worthy to have the vote”. [From The Guardian] There’s a lot to unpack and I’m not going to go beat by beat with Jeremy Irons. Let me just say that while I appreciate that he identifies as pro-choice, I do not appreciate that he uses the language of anti-choice advocates. If a woman feels psychological or even physical pain because of her abortion, the decision is still HER CHOICE. If a woman wants to say abortion is a sin, that is her choice too. But no man or woman gets to decide for all women what is and is not a “sin.” And let me tell you, the psychological and physical pain would be even more profound if the state forced women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term. Prince William attends Welsh rugby game, his third royal-work event of the year

See Prince William belt out the Welsh national anthem at rugby match https://t.co/lEfc1LTSCg pic.twitter.com/hKTKgpwFhn — People Magazine (@people) February 27, 2016 Last night, Prince William completed his third royal-work event of 2016. Yes, we’re at the end of February and William has completed all of three events. Plus, he’s done maybe 12 shifts at the EAAA, about 100 hours or 12 days of work. So… yeah, no one knows what he does with all of his free time. But here we are, at a point where the British press falls over themselves to talk about William being hard at work… by attending a rugby game. William is vice royal patron of the Welsh Rugby Union and patron of the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, which is how he gets to go to a rugby game and count it as work. William apparently sang the Welsh national anthem, watched the fame and then attended a reception for injured players and their families. Kate was not there – last year, there was talk of Kate fighting against being a “rugby widow” and trying to learn more about the game to support her husband. I guess she’s given that up. Or, you know, she was just home with the kids or whatever. William went on the record saying many words about rugby, but it’s all in one ear and out the other for me. He also managed to slip in some words about his children, saying: “No broken bones yet, but they’re trying. Running around, pushing things, jumping. Please tell me it gets easier… Charlotte is very easy, very sweet, but all the fathers say, ‘Just you wait, when you get to 9, 10, 11, they go crazy.’ I’m looking forward to it, there will be some drama.” [From People] To be fair, how did you expect Will and Kate to organize a pap stroll with George and Charlotte in tow just to make this month’s work-shy kerfuffle blow over? That kind of effective baby-shilling takes time, so William just had to go with mentioning his daughter by name in public. I’m surprised he didn’t “accidentally” refer to his daughter as “Charlotte Elizabeth DIANA.” Speaking of Diana, if you noticed a significant uptick in Diana-mentions at the tailend of the week, it was because the geniuses in Will and Kate’s press office decided to “confirm” that Will and Kate will be visiting the Taj Mahal during their April trip to India. If this doesn’t sound like news, it’s because it’s not. We already knew/suspected/theorized that they would be going to the Taj Mahal, because it’s their first state visit to India and of course they’ll visit the Taj Mahal. But it was “confirmed” by Will and Kate’s press office on Friday, and so the British papers dutifully trotted out the old photos of Diana sitting alone in front of the Taj Mahal, looking forlorn and lonely. I guess the point of the press office pushing the story is that people are supposed to say “at least Diana’s son ended up in a happy marriage.” But… did he? Prince William travels to Wales; meets injured former rugby players & sings national anthem. https://t.co/KmzD0HUvyl pic.twitter.com/ZFIX8YlHw5 — Duchess News Files (@Duchess_Files) February 26, 2016 Embed from Getty Images Photos courtesy of Getty, Twitter.

Caitlyn Jenner: I’ve gotten more flack for being Republican than being trans

When I watched Caitlyn Jenner’s 20/20 special last April, I came away genuinely moved. Caitlyn was still going by Bruce then, although she identified as a woman and was still in the middle of transitioning physically. While Caitlyn’s interview was interesting and even moving, the news of her transition was mostly fait accompli at that point. In fact, I was more surprised – and I said so at the time – that Caitlyn still identified as a Republican. And she still does! In the first season of her show, there were many record-scratch moments where Caitlyn was trying to hang out with her girlfriends and she would start spouting some GOP talking points and her girls were like, “Cait, you’re ignorant as hell.” Caitlyn’s consistent perspective seems to be that if someone wants to transition, then they should just be white and rich like her. Even after all that Cait went through, she was still being judgy about gay marriage as late as last fall!!! So, yeah, her politics are still more shocking to me at this point that her transition. And Caitlyn said as much during a speaking engagement at the University of Pennsylvania. Caitlyn Jenner appeared in front of a sold out house of students Wednesday night and U. Penn students didn’t hold back in asking important questions. In response to one student who asked Caitlyn why she doesn’t belong to a more liberal political party, the 66-year-old E! star replied (via a local Philadelphia blog), “I have gotten more flack for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.” Vanity Fair writer Buzz Bissinger, who was the one interviewing Cait last night, supported Caitlyn’s Republicanism adding, “Just because you change gender doesn’t mean you change your core beliefs.” Bissinger, who wrote Cait’s famous Vanity Fair article last year, later brought up the media headlines suggesting Cait transitioned for publicity or profit. “I don’t need the money. So I don’t understand that claim,” Jenner answered. “No one transitions for financial gain. No way…You don’t do it unless you know deep down in your soul that it’s the right thing to do. If I can’t be honest with myself about what I’m doing, I’m no good for anything.” Another student asked Caitlyn about her status as an LGBT role model. “I’m not a role model!” Jenner replied. “I’m so new to this community I don’t expect to be one.” Caitlyn also reflected on the fact she never told her father she was transgender before he died over a decade ago. Cait said she imagines her dad telling her today, “You know what, you’re doing a good job. You’re making a difference.” [From E! News] “I have gotten more flack for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans.” That’s because your political affiliation is a choice. Being transgender is not a choice. You can chose to open your mind, acknowledge your privilege and try to open yourself to the transgender community. Or you can just be a rich, white Republican woman complaining about how those messy trans people are living on government handouts. Photos courtesy of Fame/Flynet.
