Katherine Heigl: ‘I absolutely owe anyone an apology I unwittingly offended’

Kitty litter spokeswoman Katherine Heigl would like to explain why she shouldn’t have said all of the terrible things she’s said. Heigl appeared on Howard Stern’s show on Wednesday – perhaps to shill kitty litter? – and she and Stern ended up getting into EVERYTHING. It would involve about a million links, so perhaps it’s best to glance through our Heigl archives from the past, say, seven years. Or more. She’s been a pill for the better part of a decade and there are dozens of instances of her unpleasant attitude, diva behavior and general sourness. And what’s funny is that Howard Stern basically asked her about all of it. On criticizing Knocked Up after it made her a star: “That was dumb. I liked the movie a lot. I just didn’t like me. She was kind of like, she was so judgmental and kind of uptight and controlling and all these things and I really went with it while we were doing it, and a lot of it, Judd allows everyone to be very free and improvise and whatever and afterwards, I was like, ‘Why is that where I went with this? What an a–hole she is!’ It was, again, one of those situations, it was a huge opportunity for me. I was being interviewed for Vanity Fair. Like, I was on the cover of Vanity Fair, it was a huge big deal for me. And the journalist…just said, ‘You know a lot of women felt it was a little sexist’ so then I felt obligated to answer that and so I tried in my very sort of ungracious way to answer why I felt that it maybe was a little.” She admits she didn’t even call Judd Apatow to apologize: “I probably should’ve [called them]. But what I did was very, I did it publicly instead and kind of tried to say, look, this was not what I meant and this was an incredible experience for me and they were incredibly good to me on this movie, so I did not mean to s–t on them at all. I’ve thought about like, writing a note. I feel embarrassed. I don’t want it to feel insincere on any level.” Why she announced that she was withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration in 2008: “I didn’t feel good about my performance. There was a part of me that thought, because I had won the year before, that I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material and I just didn’t have that that season… I went in [to speak to Shonda Rhimes] ’cause I was really embarrassed. So I went in to Shonda and said, ‘I’m so sorry. That wasn’t cool. I should not have said that’…I shouldn’t have said anything publicly but at the time, I didn’t think anybody would notice. I didn’t know that journalists would see who submitted and who didn’t. I just quietly didn’t submit and then it became a story and then I felt I was obligated to make my statement and ‘shut up, Katie.’” She owes apologies to a lot of people: “I absolutely owe anyone an apology I unwittingly offended or disrespected. I get it. It was an immature dumbass moment.” She started going to therapy: “I started going because of the scrutiny – and I was not handling it well. I was feeling completely like the biggest piece of s— on the bottom of your shoe. I was really struggling with it and how to not take it all really personally.” She found herself acting timidly on sets: “I was like, ‘This is nonsense. Stop it. Get some help and own your voice.’ “ [From E! News and People] Just my opinion: she’s still full of sh-t. You can hear the bullsh-t and lies and inadvertent truths dripping off these quotes. “…That I needed juicy, dramatic, emotional material and I just didn’t have that that season…” Meaning she still feels like she was fundamentally justified for throwing the writers under the bus. Meaning she still feels like her material was sub-par and it was her duty to say so publicly. And then: “I’ve thought about like, writing a note. I feel embarrassed. I don’t want it to feel insincere on any level.” Why would it be “insincere,” Heigl? Because you would just be apologizing with an eye-roll? In Touch: Is Angelina Jolie pissed because Brad Pitt & Marion get along?

For months/years, there’s been a steady stream of split rumors about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Sometimes we talk about the rumors, but for the most part, we ignore them. I actually feel a little bit sorry for the tabloids because “Brangelina Split!” just doesn’t have the same kind of urgency that it once did. Sure, if you want to gossip about how By the Sea was a total failure and their relationship might be strained because of it, let’s do that. But we don’t have to pretend that Angelina and Brad still get crazy jealous about costars or whatever. Anyway, as we discussed a few weeks ago, Brad Pitt & Marion Cotillard are working together on the World War II-era espionage film Five Seconds of Silence. According to In Touch, Brad and Marion are getting along really well. So well that Angelina is so, so jelly. Things are going a little too well on the set of Brad Pitt’s upcoming flick ‘Five Seconds of Silence’ – and Angelina Jolie is not happy about it! “Brad it really bonding with his co-star Marion Cotillard,” a source tells In Touch. “They’re flirting and sharing jokes between takes.” That’s troubling for Angelina, with a source claiming: “Brad has become Marion’s one-man fan club. He comes home raving about how classy and talented she is and how much he loves her French accent. Angelina can’t stand it!” Even though there’s no romance between Brad and Marion, recently Angelina became so furious, she walked out. “She went to see Jack O’Connell in a play 140 miles from their home in London. She knew it would get under Brad’s skin.” It worked, and now the pair – who were already having marital issues – are more at odds than ever. “They have both been pushed to the brink. It’s heartbreaking.” [From In Touch Weekly, print edition] It wouldn’t be a Brangelina story if someone wasn’t “walking out” or “storming out” or “running away crying,” usually Brad. I imagine Brad did cry when Angelina “walked out”… to attend the play starring her friend. Personally, I would believe the Jack and Angelina hookup stories before I would believe Brad and Marion are happening. Marion – while beautiful and talented – is sort of a nutburger. Kate Moss covers Vogue UK for the 37th time: enough already or fine?

It’s difficult to even describe, as an outsider to British culture and celebrity, what Kate Moss means to Great Britain. Like, she’s one of the most iconic British people in the world right now. She’s arguably the most famous British model of all time. She’s been well-known, beloved and gossiped about for more than two decades. There has barely been a month in 20 years when Kate isn’t somewhere, doing something or covering some magazine or walking some runway or part of some scandal or being discussed in some way. And throughout it all, she barely ever speaks in public. Finding a quote from Kate Moss is like finding the Holy Grail. So, she covers the May issue of Vogue UK. Guess how many times she’s covered British Vogue? 37 TIMES. Seriously. That’s practically twice a year for 20 years. Kate got the cover this time to… like, pay homage to fifty years of the Rolling Stones. That’s what the Union Jack-flag photo is all about, it’s an homage to the famous photos of Mick Jagger draped in a Union Jack. Still, why not put Mick Jagger on the cover? No, they had to use Moss. Again. For the 37th time. Meanwhile, did you hear that Kate is leaving her long-time modeling agency? She was discovered by Sarah Doukas of Storm Models when she was 14 and she’s been with Storm ever since. Kate is 42. So… nearly 30 years. And she’s done. Kate Moss has left Storm Models, the agency to which she has been signed since she was first discovered by its founder Sarah Doukas in JFK airport aged 14, the company confirmed to us this morning. “After a successful 28 year relationship, Kate is moving her business in house, and we will continue to maintain an active involvement in our on-going deals for her,” read a statement from the agency, which is responsible for the fashion careers of hundreds of major fashion models including Cindy Crawford, Jourdan Dunn, Liu Wen, Behati Prinsloo and, until recently, Cara Delevingne. The agency does, however, still have one Moss on its books in the form of Kate’s little sister, Lottie. Moss – who has established herself as a shrewd businesswoman in recent years with many collaborations and additional ventures to her modelling – will, moving forward, manage the majority of her modelling commitments herself, collaborating with the agency on an ad-hoc basis. The move, however, is said to be amicable. [From Vogue UK] If this was anyone else, I might think that the model was pissed that she wasn’t getting consistent work in her 40s. But this is Kate Moss and she still works all the time. I’ve heard that she still has plenty of offers for advertising and magazine work and she can pick and choose what she does. We’re sure you’re not at all shocked to learn that Jenelle Evans has stirred up some new drama, but you might be surprised that for once, the target of her outrage isn’t her mother, or her baby daddy Nathan Griffith, but rather, two of her more stable Teen Mom 2 co-stars. It all started last month, when Jenelle launched her own website in order to connect with fans. Shortly thereafter, Chelsea Houska launched a site of her own, and because Jenelle clearly thinks that starting a website in 2016 is some sort of novel concept, she got super pissed at Chelsea for stealing her idea. “Monkey see monkey do…unreal” Jenelle wrote, in a tweet that’s since been deleted. “So over this show.” Kailyn Lowry quickly jumped to her friend’s defense, tweeting at Jenelle: “They say imitation is the best form of flattery…It’s also flattering when someone thinks you’re copying them. Sorry babe, but no.” Jenelle has yet to respond publicly, but insiders say it may be because she’s planning a lawsuit. Yes, according to Radar Online, it’s not just the website that’s outraged Jenelle.  Sources say she also believes that Houska contacted her publicity team in hopes of beating Jenelle to the punch on a skincare line and a number of other business ventures. “Chelsea had contacted one of Jenelle’s publicist’s clients and it made Jenelle mad,” says the source. “She voiced her opinion, and then she was attacked by Chelsea’s fans and fans of the show. “Jenelle’s working on a skincare line, has a new website, working on Potty Trainers and all of these other partnership things. Chelsea comes out with a website and reached out to Jenelle’s skincare person – Jenelle’s annoyed by the copying.” A different source says Jenelle is the victim in all this, as Kailyn and Chelsea have basically teamed up against her: “There is a lot of hate going on. Jenelle doesn’t speak to Kailyn anymore. She doesn’t speak to Chelsea anymore. They leave her out of everything,” the insider claims. “There is a lot jealousy. They see Jenelle is in the spotlight and that she is working on branding herself a lot.” Wow. Sounds like some serious drama. Frankly, we’re surprised Jenelle has time for all her Twitter feuds these days.

Sofia Vergara won’t complain about diversity: ‘I’ve been treated like a queen’

Some people are tired of Sofia Vergara. I’m not. I got a little bit tired of her a few years back, but I fell back in love with her during the drama last year with her ex, Nick Loeb, a drama which has no end in sight. Sofia covers the new issue of The Edit, and she talks about a lot of the same stuff: accepting who you are, her giant rack, her hair, her red carpet styling and more. But she has thoughts about other stuff too, like diversity in entertainment and playing a stereotype. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights: Stereotypes are not always bad: “I’m not afraid of them, and they don’t have to be bad, either. I mean, Gloria is an amazing character: a really good woman with this hilarious accent, so why criticize her for being a stereotype? Plus, all the Latinas I know are loud, they dress sexy and are really involved with their families: that’s Gloria!” She’s not Zen about aging: “Watching myself age on screen is awful! There is nothing more disturbing than watching an episode of Modern Family from the first season, then one from seven years later. It just makes me want to kill myself, but what can I do? I’ll be sad when the wolf whistles stop. I’m already sad that men have started calling me ‘Señora’. I get really pissed off: ‘What? It’s Señorita!’” How she’s changed in her 40s: “Back in my mum’s era, 40 was considered old, but now I don’t think it is. You have to accept that you can look beautiful, but in a different way. Nowadays I don’t do miniskirts and low-cut tops: it’s one or the other. I don’t do shorts or pink anymore, and I’ve softened my eye makeup. In Colombia, once women hit 40, they automatically cut their hair short. I used to think I would do that too, but when it came to it I thought, ‘Why should I f***ing cut my hair? It makes you look older!’” Motherhood: “I became a mother very young – at 20 – so I feel like I’ve been a mother my whole life, but I love that. Now that I’m 43 and my son is 23, it’s funny to see some of my girlfriends raising young kids. In the US, women postpone motherhood, but in Latin America most of my friends have kids my son’s age. I wouldn’t mind another child: my husband is younger than me and he wants kids so we’re trying to figure out what we’re going to do. The idea of doing it all again doesn’t scare me but, hey, it’s not like it’s going to happen naturally, is it?” Complaints about diversity: “I’m really not one to complain. I mean, seriously, how dare I! Here I am on prime-time television with this stupid accent, I can’t trash anyone. It would be so ungrateful of me because, trust me, I’ve been treated like a queen. Of course [the opportunities] can’t compare to an American or Caucasian woman’s, but things are changing. The problem is not the networks or directors: it’s that there aren’t enough writers creating things for Latinos. Once we have more Latinos writing, that’s when things may really start to change…” Her breasts: “My body has changed with age. People will often say that I wear the same thing on the red carpet, but I know my body: it’s very voluptuous and I’ve got the boobs of a stripper. They’re a 32DDD and because they’re real, they’re everywhere, so I need my dresses to have structure – and under armor. There is so much going on under my dresses that I bleed at the end of award ceremonies. In ten years I think it would be good to have a reduction. I don’t think it’s even going to be an option not to [have surgery], because I’m going to start having back pains. I wouldn’t make them too small – just enough that I don’t end up looking like an old stripper.” How she feels about being objectified: “I’ve never understood why women get so offended. I just don’t believe in all that drama, which is why I’ve made a whole joke out of it. I am secure enough not to take it all that seriously, and I like to laugh at myself.” [From The Edit] I wouldn’t hold it against her if she did complain about diversity, because she seriously toiled away, looking for a break for more than a decade. Once she had a hit, she leveraged that into her own empire through her own hard work. As for the other stuff… here are my Hot Takes: you don’t have to cut your hair when you hit 40, but I disagree that a short haircut makes everyone look older. I don’t think it’s bad idea to say breast reduction might be in the future for Sofia: it might happen. Also, if your dresses make you bleed, you should choose different dresses!
